I cannot resist the temptation to say "This:" I agree with the above statement completely. I hate unlockable costume so much that I would be willing to pay real money to have those unlocked at character creation. I'll go one better, just for emphasis. I'd pay real money for the ability to make the badges which unlock these costumes global, so that I only have to unlock them once.

That would be an interesting experiment. Especially if grinding them was on a per character basis versus a global purchased unlock. As long as the requirements weren't insane like "Defeat 1,000 Giant Monsters in Peregrine" I could see that being something to try.

Not for this booster since it's already made and plans are set for it but I bet something like you describe would still be profitable.

Honestly, I'm surprised you did a all cape/aura booster after how the party pack worked out.

So, the point is, get back to boosters like the science, or the magic boosters, maybe do another round since you've covered all the origins.

That is all.
Sorry, can't say I agree. At all.

The more I think about it, the more this one is becoming my favorite booster they've done. Fifteen costume pieces -- 5 capes and 10 auras (auras with multiple options) -- makes me a happy camper. I use capes often. I use auras often. If you don't, then your wallet should be excited you don't have to buy this one.

In fact, I'd much rather have more targeted boosters like this, which I can either take or leave, than have hodge-podge boosters which end up maybe having one or two things I like, but are otherwise filled with stuff I'll never use -- like the science booster, which was pretty useless to me except for the super tailor. None of the previous boosters besides Magic have looked as interesting to me as this -- 10 auras I can use from level 1.

I'm not disappointed, not one bit.

I agree totally. I bought most of the boosters due to one or two things that fit with concepts I had at the time for certain characters...

This booster I will buy specifically for what it targets...

Dragon-King First level 50 -- Fire/Nrg Blaster
(and to many alts to mention)
Protector

Ditto here. This is by far my favorite booster.

Far more important than capes.

Yes, I know about Flies and Combat auras, but even with them, we need to add more. Many more. Our auras are lacking.
I think the one thing they could have done to push this entirely into the "worth it for $10" unquestionably is also include a new face mask for each origin. You know, those "eye details" that are included only on full masks?

Like auras, these are wanting. (or maybe I'm just wanting?) AND this time, instead of restricting said details to full masks only, they could be available in "masks with hair" and standard set ups.

Quick suggestions (and think of these ALL as Zorro and masquerade style eye masks that stand off from the character models face):
  • Nature - a ring of leaves, arranged in a cat eye mask
  • Science - a slightly asymmetric atomic mask, with a more simplified and iconic take on the Bohr atom model
  • Tech - masquerade mask made of the silhouettes of two gears (maybe a third up and away for asymmetry?)
  • Magic - an ornate eye mask, scalloped similarly to the cape in this set
  • Mutant - an eye mask shaped like a slimy splat or ink splotch

EDIT: Just to be clear, I personally was sold hands down before the video was through on this one. The masquerade masks above are suggestions to help round out the pack for those on the fence about the value in this pack.

It's actually the same price as the super boosters - 9.99. I think that's where a lot of frustration is coming from. It should have been the same price as the Party Pack. Actually the Party Pack should have been 5.99 and the Origins pack 7.99 and Super Boosters 9.99 if I were to do the marketing.

I'm totally buying it but I personally feel it shouldn't be the same price as a Super Booster. There should be a price point difference between normal and super, IMO.
For some reason I was thinking the super boosters were around $12.99.

In that case I agree that non-super boosters should be less than "super" boosters, which inclue things like extra powers and one or more complete costume sets. This is a great pack and I will be buying it, but it just has less content. Price should reflect that.

We really have no clue what the money these boosters go towards. I caught the post Jay made about BAB leaving before it was deleted. He mentioned staying over and working extra for love of the game. That there were times they were just inspired, and wanted to do it.

It is possible that these boosters are the result of that inspiration, and the method by which the company can justify paying them for going the extra mile. Perhaps in the form of a bonus or what ever.

I don't know this for a fact, and it is an optimistic outlook, but it is one worth considering.

I will buy this one. I would like to see a bit more in it, but I am fine with what is there for the price.

Well, now that they know folks are willing to dish out a whole buck per emote, I wouldn't be surprised if the more "complete" boosters go up in price.

With that said, I will be buying this pack - because unlike the so-called "party" pack, there is a metric ton of stuff in this one that I will piece out all over the place.

I often buy boosters to get my hands on ONE piece of it, such as I bought Mutant because I wanted the Mutant wings. I will use almost everything in this one.... omg the leaf one has little cutouts in it.... awesome... so since I'll be using almost all of it I have no problem paying for it.

I would prefer that original-style boosters such as the original four origins packs continue to be made as well, however.

Wait: firefly is not in there. Does this mean we're still not going to be able to put it on female characters, after this is released?
Firefly and Snow auras have been confirmed to be in I19 for free.

The biggest problem with this thread is the title. The entitlement kind of falls out of it from there.

"Normal" boosters? This IS a normal booster. Seeing as how there has never been any set manner in which boosters are released or the contents of them, what is normal? It isn't a Super Booster, it shouldn't include a power.

From the Origins Discussion thread...

Sept 04, i2 - Capes and brooches
May 05, i4 - Costume pieces (unspecified)
$ Oct 05, i6/CoV - many costume pieces if you bought CoV
June 06, i7 - New costume parts and revamped pieces (unspecified)
$ Sept 06 - GvE items released in an item pack
Nov 06 i8 - chest emblems, new pieces and revamped pieces
July 07, i10 - costume tweaks, female bunny tail, earned Vanguard pieces
Nov 07, i11 - weapon customization, new hairstyles
$ Feb 08, Wedding Pack
May 08, i12 - unlockable roman costumes, Rularu/Talsorian/Roman weapons
$ Sept 08 - Cyborg Pack
Oct 08, i13 - day job costume options
$ March 09 - Valkyrie/Mac Pack
April 09, i14 - waist capes for female widows, Valkyrie DB options
$ April 09 - Magic Pack
June 09, i15 - Vines and Ulterior costume overlays, new cc emotes, new faces
$ July 09 - Superscience
Sept 09, i16 - power customization
$ Nov 09 - Martial Arts
April 10, i17 - animated tails, reflective parts
$ June 10 - Mutant Pack
Aug 10, i18 - combat-only auras
$ Aug 10, Going Rogue - clockwork, sport, PPD sets
$ Aug 10, GR complete - alpha & omega
$ Sept 10 - Party Pack
$ Nov 10 - Origins Pack
Nov 10, i19 - firefly & snow aura at least

The fact is that we HAVE been getting tweaks and additions trickling into the game for free the entire time the game has been out. However, it's never been a giant flood, and in very few cases have they been whole sets. The wiki didn't list when/which issue Jester, Stealth or ExProto came out, and Vanguard and Roman pieces are free but unlockable. Regardless, the dev team has very rarely put out full sets of anything.

Frankly, putting this list together made me MORE willing to shell out my $10 for the Origins pack. Seeing all the work they've put in, remembering playing at i0, and seeing how they've picked up steam to add more to the game in a more timely manner over the last 2 years just makes me want to support them all the more.

Please confine discussion about the Origins pack to the official thread. It doesn't help us read your feedback if it's spread out all over the forums.

Thanks,
