That's what I get for listening to Turg.. He told me his 75 month badge was still awarded early, so I was only looking for announcements within the last 3 months. I was pretty sure it was longer than that. I also only searched the News and Announcement section. It didn't occur to me to search the Tech forum for some reason. Maybe I figured I'd only get the 1000 other threads with people that were having the Veteran Issues to begin with. lol
Thanks for finding it. Curse you Turg! lol j.k |
Here's my announcement post about the 75th month badge if you want to see an actual timeline on it.

Your listening to me wasn't very good, MB. I still got it earlier...

So silly... don't make me get the fish out. haha
Besides.. it wouldn't really be your fault that I limited the timeframe of my search.. and the thread ended up in a different section than I thought anyway.
This has actually got me to wondering...
Just how many accounts are there that will receive the newest vet award on the 28th?
In other words, how many of us have played since launch, and never let our accounts lapse?

I'm not quite one of them. I get mine on the first, which is the anniversary of the date that I created my account. However, I have to pay on the 28th, which I find strange.

Remember:
"one month" is not always the same as "30 days".
A monthly payment from the 10th will let you play until the 10th of next month, regardless how many days go by...
but if a retail package (or time card) gives you 30 days, and you use it in a month with 31 days, you'll only be playable until the 9th of the next month.
Whatever this Vet Award is we can be pretty safe to assume it'll be one of two things:
1) So relatively trivial that people will whine that it's not "worth" being a high level Vet Award. 2) So relatively cool that people will whine that it's not fair that only the "old timers" get to have it. The chances that it'll be something that's both fairly cool and well accepted for being cool is sitting on a razor's edge. |
If you ever had free time added to your account for referring people, it will offset the date. For example, I created my account on the 13th, but my billing date is now the 8th because of various 14/15 day free time I've been awarded over the years. Adding retail packages may also change the day of the month depending on how it's worded.

Edit: Come to think of it, there might even be a more simple culprit here, the month of February. I suspect that any account that normally expires on the 29th, 30th or 31st of the month would be reset to the 28th every normal February, and the 29th on a Leap Year February.

Mine's expected on the 28th.

Yo.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
Even though I was in the head start, I didn't get my hands on a Live Code until a few days after CoH went Live, and so, I was usually a few days late on getting the most recent Vet badge.
But now, my account lists the 28th as the reward day for all past and future Vet Rewards. Yay for re-writing history!

Okay so that's roughly 6 or 7 of us who raised their hands as expecting 78-month badges by the end of the month...
There's got to be more than that! Anyone think that a mod might have access to and be willing to share such a statistic?
It would be interesting to know just how many die hard, true faithfuls have been around since day one, continuously (or roughly day one).

Whereas I am a Paragon Studios fangirl, and really not that big a fan of Cryptic at all (okay, I hate them).
I'm not sure you meant it this way, but your statement sort of implies that those of us that haven't been around since day 1 can't be "true faithfuls".

I'm not so much interested in whether people started the 'day of launch' or maybe a week or even more after that, due to whatever circumstances may have arisen.
It seems that the 'start date' as become increasingly irrelevant as the devs have made some alterations to the reward system in any event.
Really, what I was wondering was more like this:
How many people who started playing/paying either at launch, or some short time thereafter, have remained paid subscribers on an essentially continuous basis (allowing for things like unintentional lapses of a few days) up to the present day ?
It was certainly NOT my intention to point fingers or to derrogate in any way anyone who has not done so. And of course, soemone who just signed up yesterday could be a 'true faithful' in some sense of the term.
I hope that clarifies, without offending.

Started day of regular launch. My badge is due Nov 1st.

LOL,
I get all of the Vet Awards... Even though I only played for 2 months right after the games release...
Granted their was not enough content back then (I remember when people could finally wear a CAPE!, it was Big Thing!)

There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. ~Author Unknown
I have spent $720, and all they gave me was this stupid hat!
Thanks.
