Elizabeth and her guards slowly advanced further. The vampiress was visible tired by the incantation. It cost a lot of energy to harness so many N'Garai as this. Vladimir had noticed but didn't show it to the other men. Instead he pushed them foreward and kicked them around.
The ceiling became a bit higher and less cramped. Then her blood-red eyes saw another huge shape. Without a word she signalled the wraith to subdue... Without the N'Garai's help a second golem would be a big fight indeed. Vladimir signalled the Knights and they grabbed their swords a bit more firm in anticipation of what would come next.
The Wraith flew straight to Vyachslav, fully intending to fly through it and attack from the front. Being the distraction for a full attack of the ground forces from behind.

A solid wall of flame lept up in front of the undead constructs.
"Now, y'know, don'tcha think thats just a little rude, chaps?" a voice called out, as Leon stepped around the bulk of the giant dragon-thing, Lawrence at his shoulder with glowing eyes, making it clear who had summoned the barrier.
"In case you hadn't noticed, Lizzy dear, we've got slighty bigger problems than kicking the snot out of each other right now, viz a viz the river of lava," Leon continued with a thin smile. "So, if you could lay off the gadding around for a bit then maybe no one will have to spend a few months in a coffin...if that's even an option for them," he added, with a slightly warmer glance to Emerald.

The light of the fire-barrier lit up the room with its eery shimmer. A blinding effect at least. Recognising Leon and now seeing that the creature she was attacking was not really the same as the golem she had just destroyed, Elizabeth raised her hand. Her guard instantly stopped in its tracks and the Wraith returned to fly circles in the top of the room.
"DeFeurard...", she said with a emotionless tone. Then saw the others... "...and offspring I see." She looked around the room. "Before we start with introductions... What in the Dark Lords name are you doing here?"

The figure gave Damsel a cheery wave and spoke in a young voice “Hey, nice to meet you. Please don’t hurt me?”
|
"Stay right where you are and maybe I won't" said Damsel, clutching her amulet and preparing to broadcast to her friends. "Insidium Plant team to all Nighthunters. I've found something down here beneath the abandoned plant. A set of blast doors leading in all directions and some sort of central column. I'm going in to investigate. Over." Damsel released her amulet, hovered to the energised column, peered into the fist-sized hole then proceeded to reach into it.
"What's your name and story kid? Why you here?"
Sector D5
Within the Mine
Vyachslav didn't much react to the appearance of the Countess Bathory, the DeFeurards kind enough to deter her before he had to take action. Outwardly, he didn't even appear to taken note of the vampire and her entourage, moving unhurriedly on and down the shaft that held the elevator Destroyer had taken. He didn't bother to turn, entering the passage down headfirst like some great serpent, hands and feet applying pressure to the walls to support a gradual descent, his claws giving him more than sufficient traction.
At the bottom, it didn't take long before the sickening snaps of buckling metal echoed from the elevator, crackles and pops that resembled those of a soda can as it was inexorably crushed echoing into the fluid-filled chamber. Ripples spread from the mangled elevator doors as the wire mesh 'cabin' beyond grew smaller, flatter, a huge black hand squishing the lift from above, shearing the bent doors from where they still clung with the gut-wrenching retch of screaming metal.
The rest of Vyachslav followed soon after, hands and feet gradually removing their applied force from the walls of the shaft they'd pushed against. He emerged from the elevator in the same manner in which he'd entered, proceeding into the flooded chamber headfirst, neck followed by hands, body, feet, and finally his long, whiplike tail, the seventh appendage snaking through the doorway behind like some ill-willed viper looking for prey.
If there was nothing of interest here anymore, he'd simply head on to the doors of the decontamination chamber and try to buckle them in and out of his way, much like Destroyer had done with the elevator doors, but of course with a different goal in mind.
If there was however, what was it? Were the limbless vampires in the red fluid still 'alive', so to speak? Maybe even still sentient and coherent enough to speak? Or had the 'un' been taken out of these undead and they were just so much lifeless flesh?
Moreover, was there anything of interest ahead to be found? Active spells perhaps? Odd paths of energy? The voracious consumer responsible for the EM surges deep inside Mount Inconvenient...?

E4 Below.
West door:
The door snaps open as ErezZul approaches it, to close with another snap behind him. There is a short corridor, a corridor that moves pushing him towards the next doors, which open and snap shut behind him again.
The room is large and square, from the door way across to the other side of the room is a metal grilled floor, about two people wide and fenced in by a pair of safety barriers. The grilled floor is perhaps a few inches above water that floods the rest of the room, its perhaps ten foot deep. The room is illuminated from below, lights set into the floor and shinning up through the water, causing a rippling effect.
A voice speaks.
The ultimate source of life, without it we are just dust
South door:
The door snaps open as Screecher approaches it, to close with another snap behind him. There is a short corridor, a corridor that moves pushing him towards the next doors, which open and snap shut behind him again.
This room is mostly dark, though far, far larger than the other rooms, bars and small platforms are laid out seemingly at random around the room, the floor crackles with electricity, visibly arcing and sparking as it crawls and leaps across the ground, the floor is perhaps twenty foot below the little platform on which Screecher finds itself.
Endless, eternal, always above us
Central room:
As Damsel places her fist in the hole there would be a brief burst of energy and the limb would go out of phase with the rest of the world. This would pretty much sever anything placed into the hole, cutting it on the atomic level which would mean it would take a second or so for the blood to start pumping out and nerves to start screaming at the loss.

The elevator speeds downwards, opening out on to a warehouse floor. A couple of hundred glowing red, liquid filled glass spheres line the walls, as do the components for making low yield explosives, designed for spreading liquid or gas over a wide area.
Opposite from the elevator a man is busy loading several of the glass spheres into a duffle bag.

They take a few departing shots as they move away, but nothing too serious as they head over the road and down into the long grass on the other side. One does leave a claymore mine behind just to dissuade any pursuers.
Theyd left heavy weaponry behind, a couple of single use anti-aircraft rockets, and a snub barreled grenade launcher with a half dozen rounds. Why they had left the grenade launcher behind might have something to do with it being in a box labeled Experimental Void Grenandes.
D5 Viral Lab Status:
There are three floors below the flooded one, currently there are unusual energy signatures from the bottom floor. Two floors down, there is nothing, not even a trace of energy, not even enough that it could power an electric light.
The vampires have gone feral, they patrol the water with minds little more self aware than a hungry piranha, though they ignore Vyachslav for the most part only moving away if he enters the water as they look for more natural prey.

contains seamen, it also contains a loading bay full of money, food, weapons and some sorts of chemicals. The seamen and seawomen are armed, and apparently aware of the heroes outside. Some are in defensive positions, while others continue to make the submarine ready.

The amulet on the Priest started to glow and Damsel's broadcast reached him. "Roger that Damsel, please be careful" he replied.
Above, the tunnel entrance
Shadows shifted, as if a thick layer of ink was attached to the floor, sublty making every shadow darker, every nook and cranny seem deeper and somehow more threatening. An abyssal silence trailed it, as the silent entity entered the tunnel, still cautious enough to stay well out of range of the essences further within.
The Nigthwalker waited patiently until they moved on. Time was a luxury he, unlike others, had plenty of. Such things could not be rushed, for rushing led to mistakes. And his plans held no room for error.

The pain registers hard as Damsel looses her hand. Her facial muscles contorts with rage and anger. She bites down the instinct to scream and grunts instead, shaking violently with excruciating pain.
"FU*K!" she yells. "SH*T!"
"FU*KSH*T!"
"God! What the fuc* is in there?"
She fell silent for a while, having sufficiently expressed herself. She turned to the short woman and gave her a dangerous stare. "Fuc* you looking at?"
She paced around the room now, clutching her bleeding arm and musing quietly. Eventually, the bleeding stopped but she would need her arm back to reintegrate. When she finally stopped pacing, she sparked off some extremely high voltage electricity in her one working hand. "Better get your a*se into one of these doors girly. I'm hurt, I'm one-armed and I'm pissed off as sh*t! Right now, I'm about to blow a fuse and storm up in this purple rain son'ova bit*h. Sh*t's gonna get real hot, real fast. So unless you wanna be barbequed, I suggest you get the fu*k out."
E4, beneath the Insidium plant
The figure looked up at Damsel and replied in a small, cheery voice “My name’s Nina. I’m here mos-...” she stopped in mid sentence when she noticed Damsel’s hand has gone missing and winced at the loud screams. Before she could say anything, Damsel’s words hit her and she quickly looked around. The girl walked up to the South door, her long brown cape dragging slightly on the floor behind her. She waited a moment as nothing happened, then decided to move towards the East door and quickly entered it as it opened in front of her, mumbling something about a crazy lady as she disappeared down the corridor.
Central Room. Beneath the Old Insidium Plant (E4)
Damsel calmed her nerves and focused all of her emotions into constructive energy. The electric charge buzzed all around her, forming a shield as she began a series of slow, meditative martial gestures. The static field already in the room buzzed alive and became drawn to Damsel's body. With all her physical force, she exploded in a concentrated burst of superhot lightening that enveloped the room in bright white light.
"Damn it" she groaned, gasping out of exhaustion. Her defensive electrical shield sparked momentarily before fizzling out. "Note to self; lightening inside a metal box, bad idea, almost electrocuted myself. This is a bad. I'm having a bad day. I want my hand back."
Just then, she noticed the hand had actually been touched and displaced by the lightening. That's when it hit her. Something had partially phased the column out of reality. Yet it was somehow reachable. She refocused her energy and carried out a series of unique hand gestures which caused the air in the room to ripple. The dirt beneath her feel began to rise then swirl until quite suddenly, they pushed forward in a gust of wind. An electric blast carried forward in the charge. As the gale got more and more powerful, she could see her hand inching through the column.
"Ah!" she exclaimed, with a final push which brought her severed hand out of the phased column. With a victorious cheer she caught it and made quick work of reattaching the limb. With a sigh she abandoned the column and made her way through the Northward door.
Leon nodded to Lawrence, who let the flaming barrier drop.
"Oh, you know, seeing the sights, the sounds...taking care of business," the old vampire replie with a grin, twirling his cane in his right hand. "Let's just say I like to see thing through to the end, hmm? Shall we?" he added, gesturing further down the tunnel. |
She looked up to the Wraith who instantly responded. As if he could read his mistress' mind the ethereal being flew down the shaft first... following Big V. A scout ahead.

"Tyran" said the Priest, staring intently through the submarine. "There are people inside this seacraft. They're heavily armed, guarding money, food and vast chemicals. I think we can assume this is Tomb's exit strategy." Priest turned to face the stripped and fury anthropomorph. "Those men and women already know we're here. We should try talking to them. Get some answers on Tomb's whereabouts".
The amulet on the Priest started to glow and Damsel's broadcast reached him. "Roger that Damsel, please be careful" he replied. |
"Grenade"
A look of glee came from behind the mask as the 'grenade' disc got pulled out. It was short-lived as he handed it over to Tyran with a grumble of disatisfaction.
"They won't give up answers easily. No doubt loyal to her either through desire or brainwashing. But there's other ways to get information."
"How about we go see how talkative they are?"

"Business indeed!", Elizabeth replied. "After you... I would't trust you behind me in the least."
She looked up to the Wraith who instantly responded. As if he could read his mistress' mind the ethereal being flew down the shaft first... following Big V. A scout ahead. "What do you know of what we are facing Leon?" |
"And you think I'd be daft enough to walk ahead?" Calmly, he offered her the arm that wasn't linked with Emeralds. Lawrence moved up tunnel, sidestepping the Wraith with a brief look of distaste as it floated past. Maria kept back, placing herself more behind the group, keeping an ever-wary eye open.
"As for what we are facing, it depends," Leon continued, resuming walking wether Liz came along or not. "If you mean the islands inhabitants then it would seem a resourceful yet minituarised archvillain who follows stereotypical protocol quite well...and the ever persistant or simply stubborn Nighthunters and their...'charismatic' leader," he added, unable to hide a sarcastic little grin. "That strange sensation of pure, unadulterated disdain that passed over not too long ago, however? Haven't the foggiest, dear girl."
Further down the tunnel
The Nightwalker followed, edging up behind the group, inch by inch as they moved on, wary and patient as ever.

West door
Erez'Zul turned as the door shut behind him, he wasnt completely surprised but he had to admit, he wasnt expecting to be sealed off with no way out. He would have thought a maze or something similar would have been more appropriate.
He looked around the room, immediately noticing the water below him and becoming just a bit worried. A mage whose specialty is fire in a room of water, not good.
A voice spoke out from nowhere.
The ultimate source of life, without it we are just dust
He looked around for the source of the noise, once again his eyes resting on the water.
"Water....this could prove problematic."
South door:
Screecher turned as the door slammed shut, placing his hand on it as if it would open it up again.
After a moment or two he turned to look around the room he was now trapped inside, peering over the edge of the platform to look at what was below him he stepped back slightly when he saw the electricity covering the floor
A voice spoke out.
Endless, eternal, always above us
Screecher stood still for a moment, wondering what the voice was talking about.
Shrugging he decided to look up, thinking it was the best place to look for the voice.

Destroyer stared at the man for a minute before seeing the large doors at the end of the warehouse. He started to walk towards it before stopping and seeing the glowing red orbs lining the walls.
He walked towards them, taking one off the wall he stared at it for a moment, remembering the glass containers in the lab, the trapped vampires.
He looked at the man again, thinking back to the trapped vampires again and again, his mind connected the two situations.
Lab scientist, vampires trapped in glass tubes, glowing orbs filled with red liquid, vampires trapped in tubes full of the same red liquid, scientist collecting the orbs,....it was him.
His eyes glowed brighter, the red glow shining across the room.
He threw the orb directly at the man, his throw sending it hurtling directly at the centre of his back.
He set off again towards the large door at the end of the warehouse.
He was going to continue and see what else this place had to offer, then...he was going to bring it all crumbling down around him.

Patsy wasn't exactly taking her time diving into the APC - literally - as a couple of shots struck her in the hip and legs, sending her crashing into the vehicle with a thud and maybe a little clatter. After a minute or two, though, she eventually poked her head out again.
They were gone. Good. The immortal then slinked back into the APC and pressed the button on her earpiece, which had somehow survived the chaos between the jubgle and where she was now.
"Wilf?"
"Now really isn't a good time, Miss Crusher." Wilf answered.
"I think I have a... did you just drop one?" Patsy asked as soon as she heard a strange creaking sound from the mage's end.
****
Meanwhile, over at E1... wait, what!?
"The only thing I've dropped, Patsy," Wilf barked irritably, not taking -too- kindly to the accusations of flatulence "Was the speedboat into a cliff face."
"You mean you tried to bugger off without me..." Patsy sighed.
Wilf pinched the bridge of his nose and too a moment to look out to the side of the boat. The vessel's bow was lodged firmly into the rock, perhaps merged into the cliff face proper. The cockpit and the stern, though, hung high above the sea below. There were only two options to leave the boat for either Carly or Wilf. Climb up the cliff face onto the island - something inadvisable while Carly was still curled up into a gibbering wreck of a ball in the back passenger seat - or down, which was just asking for certain death.
"In case you failed to notice, the jungle just became a towering inferno, and the smoke was being thrown south, so we couldn't have stayed in the lagoon."
****
F5...
Patsy poked her head out of the APC to look at the jungle westward. Towering inferno.
"Alright," Patsy groaned. "I'll let yous off this time. Have you got a backup plan? Or even a backup backup?"
"The Group generally make it a rule never to just leave their own to die, Miss Crusher. We're due for a rescue pickup in about eight hours if we don't re-establish contact with Rhode Island by then. I think what's left of the boat may be in a stable enough position for now."
"Right, Ran into a few goons headed North, so I'm gonna chase after them, see where that gets me."
"Good luck, Miss Crusher."
Patsy released her finger from the earpiece and slumped back into the APC, trying once more to blow that strand of hair out of her face and she fall back. Still no luck.
"Alright, Patsy..." The immortal muttered to herself. "You're achin' like mad all over and covered in mud - pretty much in dire flamin' need of a hot bath either way - but you've got a flippin' job to do and you aren't gonna get it done sittin' here whinin' to yourself, now hop to it you lazy cow!"
...
She didn't budge. Patsy sighed. "I'm gettin' too old for this."
Feeling a little apathetic, Patsy ran her hand around the APC's floor only to feel sometime roll onto her hand. Looking revealed it to be...
"Awwwww FLIP!"
...an AA Rocket, to which Patsy quickly felt relieved when she realised it wasn't going to go kaboom into her face. The immortal looked at it for a moment and pondered as she examined the thing.
"Any more of you guys about, like?" she smirked before rolling the weapon out into the dirt outside the vehicle while she rummaged about, finding and rolling another rocket out in the process. Then she saw the box.
"Experimental, huh?" Patsy muttered as she read the container's label, that alone forcing a sadistic grin on her face as she flung the lid open. "Experimental or not, hun, you're comin' with me"
The immortal slung the launcher within over her shoulder and checked the truck for anything else of use. Nope, nothing. With that, she hopped out the back, picked up her new-found rockets and carried them under her arms as she headed North-West. As soon as she reached the road, though, she stopped herself and looked at her new toys. She gave each one just a little shake, not enough to accidentally set them off, but enough to sloppily emulate the impacts they might endure if she were to start jumping about, as long as she kept a tight hold of them and didn't let them to just swing all over the place.
She'd be fine, she figured, and made the first jump toward the plant without even realising she had managed to avoid a claymore in doing so. She just wanted to catch up with those soldiers.

Priest gave Tyran a suspicious look. "I'm going try asking them" he said, heading towards the sub's hatch. "If that doesn't work then we'll read their minds. But under no circumstances will I allow extreme actions like torture. Please?" he added, using his superstrength to tug at the hatch door.
The lone feral vampire crouched low, watching Cornal and Miranda move through the Zombies, from the top of arusted old building out of sight. The creature looked at the werewolf, a pure hatredrising in its mind until it was red with anger. It sent out an ultra sonic call to its brothers.
The brothers left the burning wreckage of the tanks with great speed, avoiding what gunfire remained from the tank's surviving crewmembers. They ran as fast as they could and soon joined their brother. The three of them howled together and lept towards the werewolf, claws and fangs elongated, ready to kill.
Miranda heard the growl of the feral vampire and shouted to her gang "Watch out!" Miranda saw the vampires leap and moved in front of Conall at speed raised her guns and fired at the vampires. Miranda's gang reacted to her shout and "Big Fist" threw the nearest things he could grab hold of, which was one of the zombies that he had just killed. "Big Fist" threw the zombie as hard as he could at the leaping Feral vampire. "Crazy Ivan" quickly smirked at the situation and blew fire towards the feral vampires. The rest just trained thier guns on the vampires and opened fire.

Vyachslav moved on as planned, proceeding through the decontamination chamber with the accompanying runch and squeal of overstressed metal. As expected for an environmental isolation chamber, the second door locked down and inflated a secondary seal the moment he pushed through the first, but that didn't save it. Neither did the alarm. However, if Tomb or her staff were paying attention, they'd probably be aware now that and exactly where the lab's containment had been breached.
The idea of sending another dose of viral agents into the system entered Vyachslav's mind briefly, but the low probability of finding anything but a security office manned by the requisite inattentive minion prompted him to decide against it. Instead, he proceeded into the corridor that lay past the former decontamination chamber, more than curiously observing the word 'FOOTRY' as he passed. That alone wasn't enough for him to proceed into the room, however. For that, there'd need to be at least one sentient lifeform inside (human or otherwise) of which he could pick up the presence.
Was there? For that matter, was there anyone aside from the scientist Destroyer presently confronted on this floor and/or the three below him...?

"Miranda! They are after me!." He shouted as he tried to be heard over the gunfire.
He then jumped over Miranda and ran towards the charging ferals.
As Conall met one of the ferals halfway, he aimed a powerful punch towards the Feral's face.
The Feral's recoiled from the amount of gunfire laid on them by Miranda's thugs. They moved quickly to get into close qurters, closing the gap between them and the guns so they could use their teeth and claws. The Feral Cornall hit went backwards, it's midair leap causing it to be caught off gaurd. It would not happen again. Claws at the ready, it charged towards Cornall, bringing both sets of claws around to swipe at him.

Lucard floated back the way he had come. He knew it was probably suicide, the Maria girl or Leon would likely kill him outright but he wasnt prepared to take on Tomb and a dragon, and any more of her mechanical gaurds alone. He would have to risk it.
He finally found where Leon and his group had gotten to, and was suprised to see Elizabeth conversing with him. "Well now, this is a sight to see. Good of you to make it Elizabeth my dear."
Lucard floated a little above the ground, his guns holstered for the moment. "I trust dear Leon isnt giving us any trouble today?after all his survival is at stake as much as anyone elses."

"I suppose I could head up to the surface and attempt it, but well the ash in the air makes a Jet pack risky. Teleportation is not an option, and I'm not that good a swimmer."
"I'm pretty screwed to be honest."
"Oh that is so terrible! Deary me!"
I glance down at the cheque sticking out of my pocket. Technically I had found the girl. I should probably contact my client and ask how to proceed now I knew where the kid was. Well, I knew for sure she was on this Island now.
"My employer has given me carte blanche on expenses, so just let me know if there's anything at all I can do."
I reeled off the number from the fake business card. It did actually come through to my office, but to another phone that I kept just for this purpose.
"Take care Miss Tomb, please don't hesitate to telephone if there's anything you think of that I may be of assistance with."
With that, I hung up.
I rooted around in my pants pocket again, hoping to come up with another quarter. My luck was in. I shoved the coin in the slot and hastily dialled the number for my client.
"Hello Miss? Yes.. I've found her. On the Island, yes. No means of escape apparently. Sounds like a volcano has erupted, ash in the air, jet-pack useless. Teleportation not an option. She mentioned heading up to the surface, so yes, underground likely. Yes... yes... okay."
I hung up.
