F11, the cave

Erez'Zul watched the chaos ensue, his eyes flickering from one attack to another, the Nictus attacked, hoping to shield and escape with Tomb, the priest tried to reason with her, he was shot by something, twice even....Lucard helped him, the hooded girl attacked, grenades were fired from another woman, one he hadnt seen before....

The attacks continued, each growing more violent and powerful, the earth shook, Erez'Zul had to float a few inches from the ground to avoid that one.
A smile started to grow on his face, he was trying to surpress a laugh while everyone around him struggled with the Nictus.

He landed softly on the ground, dark lightning continuing to swirl around him, he walked slowly to the shield surrounding the Nictus and the young Tomb.
Random bits of energy attacked him, hitting him as hard as they would, he stumbled from left to right as the Negative energy hit him, having little effect but to shove him from side to side like being pushed hard by two people standing next to him.

The energy was only fuelling his own power, feeding a hunger he usually starved, though he never was much one to get his own hands dirty.
"Heres a move that runs in the family..."
Bringing his arms back he cupped his hands together, bringing them forwards as close to the shield as he could, almost touching the energy shield in front of him.
"Power......"
He pulled his arms back, massive amounts of energy being drained from the room around him, pulling into his hands and through his body, regenerating his own body and giving him more power.
"SIIIIIIIINK!!"

A tower of dark energy erupted upwards, around Erez'Zul. He would use the Nictus' own energy to destroy him, then....Tomb would go with him.

Screecher and the two demons reached the mines, stopping suddenly as Hugo exited, they stared at him run away until Destroyer burst out of the mine a few seconds later.
He was going to keep following Hugo but when he noticed Screecher to his left he stopped instantly. They looked at each other for a moment, words unseen were exchanged between the pair.

They looked in the direction Erez'Zul had gone to, wishing they could follow, but they knew what to do, they needed to leave the island.
They all ran in the same direction, avoiding any of the dark tendrils sprouting from the island now, eventually they would reach the water and start swimming from the island, far enough for their teleportation to work so they could return home.

Priest's attack had affected the villain with minimal damage, it seemed. It's hovering cloud of Nictus energies responded with a series of blasts that collided with the Priest but would disintegrate with minimal effect under the holy man's strength of will. He felt the ground crack but maintained his posture. He watched as the man suspected to be Erez'Zul tried to siphon the villain's shield energy. He noted the hooded girl was also on the offensive, trying to break the shield.

"Oi, twerp!" came a voice from the direction of the one called Patsy. She taunted the little girl before opening fire with her grenade launcher. Priest was quick to do his job as her guardian and fired a repelling laser beam from his eyes which pushed the two grenades out of the air and into the nearby cavern walls. He was shocked by the resulting explosion which swallowed two huge six-feet wide chunks of rock, threatening the natural support structure of the cave.

Priest fired another concussive blast with his laser beam eyes towards the rocket-girl. "Hold your fire 'Patsy' or I will be pressed to use greater force" he warned her, before turning his attention to the Nictus villain and the girl stood next to him . "I don't know your name, Tomb, but I do know that you are a very precious little girl. Incredibly smart and uniquely, very world-aware. Yours is a curious and tentative case, because you have so much potential to do great good in this world. So much potential. Please, do not choose the dark side; it's a painful and meaningless existence. Come with me instead. Unlike him, I would do anything and everything to ensure your happiness, safety and comfortability. I am a father. You've seen here the benefits of my trust. I would die a million times to protect you. Nothing personal, it just how I was made. It's who I am. My offer still stands. All you have to do is walk away from that man and take my hand."

As he preached on, reaching out to the girl's heart, Priest had failed to see the grenade shot towards the submarine. He wouldn't be able to deflect it off-course.

Tomb shrieks in fear as the void grenade explodes close to her, the purplish shell expands over, it remains for a full minute before fading as it does so Tomb returns. Her eyes have withered, becoming two sunken orbs of a coal black substance, tears of blood flow down her cheeks, she screams something in some nightmare language, before collapsing forwards to lay face down in the dirt, dead.

There was an irate rumble from Nightwalker, who had been forced onto one knee under the onslaught. Tomb's death, however, seemed not to phase him.
The reason was perhaps made clear when he extended a hand to her, and a pale ghostly flame seemed to rise from her body, drifting over to cling weakly to his fist.
"And perhaps this proves just how weak you ultimately are, human," he growled at the Priest. "I have seen preachers like yourself before. I have defied Gods and Demons, in my time. It is preachers and idiot zealots who do not understand the greater picture who will drag others down screaming with them...while those who act and those who follow them are the ones who will live to see their respective rewards bear fruit. And now, if you'll excuse me, I have work that needs doing."

With the ghostly essence of the late Tomb in hand, Nightwalker began to fade, the teleportation beginning to kick in now that there was only one mass attempting to move through the various fields disrupting the island. The Nictus essences around Nightwalkers defences lashed out all the more visciously, paying particular attention to those who got nearer the shields.

Lucard watched Tomb fall, his face a mix of rage and relief. Her death meant his people were safe at last, but now her attrocities would go unpunished. He watched the Nictus take Tomb's essence, and let out a howl, imbueing his pistols with dark energy and firing at the Nictus as it tried to flee the battle field. He began to run foward, blasting the Nictus energies away from him as he tried to ressurect Tomb with the same powers he had used on the Priest, still firing to keep the Nictus at bay, focusing his essence summoning powers purely on Tomb's soul.

Erez'Zul watched as the Nictus pulled out the childs essence from her dead body, his angry overruled any reason he had left within him.
A large flaming sword erupted from his hand, he flew at the shield, striking it again and again, dark tentacles bursting from the floor, wrapping itself around the bubble trying to attack the Nictus inside.

The tentacles blocked some of the attacks but the ones that got through hit Erez'Zul hard, as this point however, it didnt matter, he wouldnt stop until he got through, feeling a greater anger than he had for centurys.

One of the nicti essences moved in front of Lucard, blasting back at him when he opened fire, steadily weakening as it was absorbed instead of Tomb's essence. The other moved in front of Erez'Zul, chunks of energy burning away as it took the brunt of the flaming strikes. The orbiting shards melded back into the shield, their energy absorbed to reinforce it.

"You would not be the first," Nightwalker replied calmly. "We have weathered assaults by fanatics and the misguided before. Our destiny will not be denied us, not by the likes of you. And I wish you the best of luck in escaping what was unleashed here. You may need it," he added as he began to fade out, with a curt nod at the submarine and, more importantly, the devastating grenade that was headed straight for it.

After seeing Tomb die, the hooded girl stopped her attack. Her shield dropped as she straightened herself up and stood there watching, ignoring the pain caused by the energies around. The bright blue flames over her body extinguished, but the glow of her eyes was still visible through her goggles. “It’s all over, she’s dead” she spoke in a soft, calm tone. The girl extended her hand towards Nightwalker, walking to his shield. As she moved forwards, the ground beneath her feet disappeared into dust, leaving shallow footsteps as she floated above them, her power now focused on its most devastating side. A small invisible aura surrounded the girl whole, whatever would come in contact with it had its molecules forcibly separated, energy disrupted, elements pushed aside. She moved closer, her hand reaching at the Nictus shield, to go through it, to reach Nightwalker and rip him apart.

It was too little too late. With a final shudder in the air itself, Nightwalker vanished, leaving only the cold taint of Nictus energy behind him.
The shield and surrounding energy exploded violently, with the same level of ferocity that was often called a 'Quasar' by the Warshades of Paragon.
The Nictus essences persisted, at least until they were focussed on and destroyed, lashing out at anyone nearby.

The Nictus Scientist and the essence of the girl Tomb were gone.

Patsy staggered to her feet, being somewhat unfortunate enough to crash onto dry land rather than the much-preferred water just a metre or two away. It hurt. A lot. The impact had sent her dizzy once more so she didn't quite catch the horrifying sight of Tomb's demise nor the Nictus' retrieval of her soul, though she sure as hell heard the scream and that was enough to make her just a little uneasy.

By the time she was back on her feet, her sight had cleared up again, but not after the Nictus had finally made his escape.

"Okay!" Patsy barked, her head still spinning. "I... heard screamin'. Girly screamin'. Girly -pain- screamin'. Did that mean I got the little..."

The immortal paused once her sight cleared up some more, enough to see the dead body ahead that quickly caused her face to drop and pale a little, considering she had counted on the blast simply erasing her from the face of the earth rather than the horror before her.

"...git? Um... right!" she said, glancing down to look at the remaining clip attached to her launcher. "Nasty little buggers, aren't you?"

Patsy then ripped the clip from from the launcher and tossed it to one side, opting to leave them for the approaching Godslayer to devour. It quickly became clear that the grenades were a brutal and catastrophically dangerous weapon no sentient being should ever be allowed to wield. Again.

Vyachslav rejoiced as both the individual impulse on his scanner as well as the broadcasts of Tomb's mind vanished. Visual confirmation coming only from the 'eyes' of the underwater mechanoids, he had no idea the Nightwalker had taken her essence with him. As far as he could tell, and technically it was even true, Tomb was dead.

Regrettably, his intelligence regarding this world made it somewhat doubtful she'd stay that way. Just about everybody here seemed to have a revolving door relationship with death. Sadly, he couldn't do anything about that...

Overhead, Vyachslav passed in intermittently powered glide, a beat of his burning-orange wings giving further thrust every now and then as he sailed through the storm, leaving a trail of vapors resulting from ash and dust coming apart in the energy fields of his wing skins.

Though he couldn't see them through the dense, dark clouds, the presences below weren't lost upon him. Another order went to the ship, and its jammers shut down. They would no longer attempt to waylay those who tried to jump off the island this way. The Insidium ore still might've had other ideas, of course...

Submarine Docks, Eastern Caves (F11)

Priest's inexpressive facial muscles displayed no emotion, but his eyes betrayed the pain. As the Nictus faded away with Tomb's spirit, he lost the strength to stand and fell defeated to his knees. He felt responsible. He had failed to spot the third projectile. He had failed to protect his charge. He had failed to help the little girl, he had failed to save Tomb. The lifeless body laid dead not too far from him. A horrifically devastated corpse of young girl, now stripped of all her hopes and dreams. The injustice of it all, the unfairness of life, the cruel and murderous nature of man, all came crashing down on him like the burden of Atlas.

And it angered him.

His eyes glowed flaming red with bright hot energy. He rose to his feet and slowly trailed his gaze upon Patsy. This was the rocket-girl he had shown kindness to, the one he had foolishly helped down through the elevator. Now she would face his wrath. "You two" he thought out, communicating with Tyran's guards through the amulet. "Take the girl's body and board the Helicarrier with everyone else. It's already airborne and departing. Don't worry about me. I'll be right along." Priest ended the broadcast and gave Patsy his full attention. One step followed another as he moved towards her, vengeance burning in his eyes.

The two Nighthunter Mercs did as they were told and left with Tomb's body. When they reached the shores, they looked skywards and flew after the chopper, rocket-boots propelling them forth. They boarded the aircraft and saw that everyone else was already waiting inside. Without much ado, the whole machine vanished.

The girl lowered her hand and stood properly on the ground. There was nothing more she could do on the island. She gave a look towards the submarine that now had a gaping hole in it caused by the void grenade, then moved her gaze towards the others still in the cave. Eventually she looked at Pious and decided to watch his actions in silence.

Patsy shook her head in an effort to clear it up a little more, only to find that when she had finished and her sight cleared up some more... there was a particularly wrathful-looking holy man heading her way.

"Wonderful," the immortal sighed, crossing her arms again and rolling her eyes. "What are you gonna do now, like? Lecture me into a coma about Truth, Justice and the American Way of slowly screwing itself over?"

Priest was burning inside as he came face to face with Patsy. She was right. What could he do, without a case to build. He sighed, deflated and depowered.

"No" he sighed, "I'll just leave you here to your own fate."

Without further consideration, he walked out of the caves and just kept on walking.

He had loved that little girl like his own, and now she was gone. A piece of his heart had gone with her and he suddenly felt so lonely and so sad.

Rogue Isles, Sometime later
Somewhere deep beneath St Martial...

The light was dim, next to non-existant. The most prominent glow was that from the monitors and arrays of complex, pressure sealed glassware, a haunting neon green that tinted everything with a slightly sickly edge.

"So it seems our current predicemant is a curious parrallel, hmm? Myself and my kind are stuck in forms by necessity, that by rights we should be able to shuck. And you are trapped without a form to call your own. I feel we have room to provide each other a valuable service. I provide you with a new body...and you aid me in my research, to find a way to exist without a 'host'. When the Nictus are no longer bound like parasites to other beings...then we shall be free, free to explore our true potential."

Nightwalker leaned back, steepling his fingers as he regarded the crystal sat on his desk. It was the only other source of light in the room, a pale blue glow, identical to that of an essence without a body.
And maybe, if you listening closely, you might be able to make out words from inside...
"You and I, Miss Tomb, have a lot of work to do."

The small hooded girl floated up into the air, heading out of the cave and back to the hell the island has become now. She has failed at retrieving Tomb, now she was lost forever. Although the girl wasn’t so sure of it, not many people actually stay dead in the world anymore, not when it comes down to people with powers getting involved. She rose higher up into the air, taking one last look at the devastated island before turning up towards the sky and accelerating. Soon enough she was out of the reach of the island and headed back home.

Patsy looked on, watching the Priest with a curious raised brow for a few minutes before reaching for her earpiece. Which had gone AWOL at some point.

"Ah, flamin' hell!" the immortal groaned before storming out of the cave herself, where she was quickly greeted by two approaching speedboats, one of them carrying the familiar face of Wilf Hilmarsson in the passenger seat.

"Miss Crusher." the Icelandic mage called over as both vessels drew closer to the cave. "I trust from your... relaxed posture that there is no more to be done here?"

"Nah." Patsy sighed. "The brat's a proper dodo now, and I'm not too sure she's gonna be springin' back any time soon. And another thing, Wilf?"

"Yes?"

"I'm pretty sure I told you and Carly to get your backsides as far away as you can. There's a mini end of the universe eatin' up the place, you know."

"I felt it necessary to ensure that you fulfilled your end of the contract, that's all."

"Pfft!" the immortal mocked. "I find yer lack of faith disturbing. Anyways, room for one more?"

"Of course."

Patsy tossed the ammo-less grenade launcher and the remaining AA rocket onto the deck hopping aboard Wilf's vessel and took one last look at what was left of the cave. Just as the driver was about to swing the boat around, she gently place a hand on his shoulder, a polite gesture of asking him to wait a little while.

"Oi, Jesse James and Sparky!" she called over to Lucard and Erez'Zul respectively. "Need a lift back to Rhode Island, like?"

Erez'Zul watched the spot where the Nictus had dissappeared, his hatred still burning strong. He was getting sick of people believing they were untouchable, that they were stronger than they really were, invincible.

He turned around, watching the Priest walk away, the young hooded girl vanish and the other lady walk off, she offered them a lift back, he simply shook his head. She might be an enemy, or an ally, at this point he was beyond caring.
He glanced between the two ferals then back at Lucard, staring for a moment he spoke softly.
"Im done...I believe I have gained as much from the Court as I can, who knows, maybe you'll see me again...maybe not, but im done. Im sick of playing it safe, leaving it so late that this....that this can happen. Im going to take action against the Nighthunters, personally...Goodbye Lucard, try not to get eaten..."

His palm began to glow blue, a swirling light emanating from the palm of his hand. He looked at it for a moment, wondering what it was that had stopped his teleportation up until this point.
He raised his hand, a portal exploding from the very air, fire swimming around the edges. He stepped through, leaving the cave and entering his own fortress, the closest thing to a home he had.
He walked through the empty halls of his home, the sound of his footsteps making a loud echo with each step. As he reached the throne room he saw the triplets waiting for him, Reaper, Destroyer and Screecher, all kneeling down as he approached.
He rested a hand on Destroyers head for a moment as he walked past them, climbing the stairs and sitting on the throne at the top.

He looked down at the bottom of the stairs, an image flashing through his mind, a memory of only a few hours ago, before he went to the island, WHY he went to the island.

Erez'Zul's eyes flashed at the mention of his real name.
"This battle, this fight between us, at this moment in time...is meaningless, there is more at stake than you care to admit. It is because of this....that i ask a favour....."
Hours earlier...

"It is because of this....that I ask a favour...."
Erez'Zul simply stared at him, his face expressionless, that is until he started to laugh, he continued to laugh for nearly a minute before having to force himself to stop, the man in the chair stayed perfectly still as he laughed, waiting for him to stop.

"You....wish to ask a favour of me? you're my prisoner!"
Erez'Zul had spoken with such incredulity that he wasnt properly prepared for the retort.
"A prisoner in your throne"
Erez'Zul stopped smirking now, the humor lost on him.
"I defeated you Adam, you're MY prisoner now, whatever tricks you have wont stop me...look at you, you're already wasting away, you dont have enough energy left to stop me."
Adam Moore, more commonly known as Storm to the world, a Judicator among the Nighthunters, arched forward, his face coming out of the shadow, and though it was his face, it didnt look like it.

His face was old and wrinkled, to heal the wound that Erez'Zul had caused him, he was having to feed off of his own life force, usually he replenished this by meditating for a few hours a day however since coming here, he was denied any form of meditation to regain his strength.
Adam smiled again.
"Then im no threat to you...so why dont you shut up and listen."
Erez'Zul glared at him, crossing his arms he stayed silent, ready to listen to him.

"Good...Tomb, a child genius whos life has been full of pain, of suffering, she was shown the darkness of the world all at once....and it destroyed her. Somehow...she lost it, whatever made her hate, whatever made her WANT to hate...it vanished, and she became Sarah, a little girl who only wanted to be with her adoptive sister, Jenny."

Erez'Zul stepped forward, he had heard the story before, how Adam got his powers.
"I became close to Jenny...too close, when I received my abilities, she knew too much, and so...I silenced her....she could have lived happily ever after with Sarah, a real family for a girl who was never given the chance to grow up on her own....and i took that all away from her.."
A tear started to fall down Adams face as he spoke.
Erez'Zul interupted, walking up the stairs, closer to Adam.

"And then Sarah went mad and tried to help Jenny and watched over her forever and ever....ive heard the story before....Tomb...ive heard that name before, recently..."
Adam nodded slowly.
"Yes...but Jenny survived, she lay in a coma, Sarah went through so much...but then Jenny woke up, she got better, Sarah was released into her care and they could live happily forever more"

Erez'Zul looked on a little confused.
"And...?"
Adam scoffed lightly, he could feel himself getting weaker, his attempt at intimidation against Erez'Zul had used up a lot of what little energy he had left.
"And...now someone else is around, calling themselves Tomb, a little girl, blonde hair..."
Erez'Zul smiled widely.
"Of course, now i remember, the vampire virus the Countess talked about...so of course the favor is..."
Adam completed his sentence.
"To save her"

Erez'Zul laughed loudly again, for a moment it almost seemed like his was happy, but Adam could tell there was no humor in his laughter.
"But of course! Save the girl, the most important thing in the world, make up for past mistakes, for your own crimes, as always"
Erez'Zul quickly slammed his hands on either side of the thrones arm rests, leaning in closer to Adam, his eyes giving away his anger.
"Your trapped. Here. With me! you cant talk yourself out of this, you cant bargain with me, you wont survive this...stop ignoring me"

Adam honestly looked surprised by his words.
"Dominic..."
Erez'Zul quickly stepped back, pointing his finger at Adam, inches away from his face.
"DONT! You have no right to call me that, you had your chance thousands of years ago and you wasted it, and again, AGAIN! you ignore anything i do to save some girl, as if she was more important, as if she was all that mattered in the world to you!"

Adam sighed.
"This is about Alexia again...Dominic, i never abandoned you, i loved you...i would never, i COULD never abandon you, but shes my daughter..."
Erez'Zul burst with rage, flecks of dark energy flying from his body.
"AND I AM YOUR SON!! Does that mean NOTHING to you!? I was there for you, i became a Guardian to please you, i tried to lead them like you would, i ascended through the ranks, becoming one of the most revered protectors this world had ever seen, but. it. was. never. ENOUGH!"

Erez'Zul smacked Adam hard across the face, bouncing his head back against the throne making him fly forwards, falling down the stairs he hit the bottom with a thud.
He managed to raise his head slightly, his vision blurring as he saw Erez'Zul take one step down the stairs.
"Why would I ever help you..."
Adam was falling unconcious fast, just managing to give out some last words before he drifted asleep.
"Because...i...couldnt...save her...can...you..."
Erez'Zul stared at him, watching his motionless body for a few minutes before screaming out through the throne room.

"TO ME!" Three flashes of light erupted into the room, one green, one blue and the last red, changing into three identical beings except for their clothes. They were the Triplets.
"Tomb....find her, no matter where you have to look, contacts, technology, books, spells, raising the dead, i dont care! FIND HER!!"
The three beings vanished the same way they had come, in three different colored, bright lights.
Erez'Zul sat down on his throne, 2 large demons entering the room, picking up Adams body to take him back to his cage.
Erez'Zul hated Adam at this moment, more than he had before, he knew exactly how to get to him, what made him tick. Adam knew the one force that drove Erez'Zul to such lengths was his need to out do his father, to be better in every respect.
Joining the court, becoming a templar, something Adam couldnt do, taking down the Nighthunters, something Adam once again failed at. He would become more powerful than him no matter the cost, a plan was already in motion to destroy the Nighthunters, but the girl....Tomb. If he could save her where his father could not....the plan could wait, some things were just more important.

Lucard sighed, he would have to talk to the priest about Tomb's body, it was too dangerous to be left in the hands of te heroes, even if it was lifeless. He shook his head to Patsy, lifted off the ground and began to fly back towards his homeland, he needed time to think before he reported the events to the council in person.

With her offer refused, the two speedboats swung round and took their leave, destination: Independence Port, Paragon City.

****
Later that night...

"And in breaking news, reports are coming in that the families of the St. John's School victims have received sudden donation totalling close to four million dollars between them. As of this time, the unseen donor of twelve paper bags, each containing equal amounts of $333,000 has yet to be identified."

The TV then flicked off, upon the command of Patsy's remote once she was satisfied with the news of the evening. Ensuring that the towel that covered up her modesty was well and truly secure, she then found herself a seat at the end of her bed and turned her attention to the small pile of money beside herself: the remaining four-K big ones that remained after splitting her payment for a job well done out into twelve separate piles, one for each of the school victims, and rounding each amount down to the nearest thousand.

By then she had already worked out how to spend it, or at least part of it. A couple of hundred would go toward replacing the clothes that had been torn to shreds on the job for definite, while about half of the total amount should be more than enough to reimburse the Rusty Rivet's proprietor for that little incident with Wilf a couple of days ago.

As for the rest of it, she wasn't sure. A part of her mind was telling her to go nuts and treat herself. Another begged her to question the morality of spending blood money on anything other than the bare necessities, considering the very job she had been paid to do. A job that she wasn't too keen on doing in the first place either, but when she thought about it... Tomb had taken the lives of twelve children and ruined those of their families, all for the purposes of fulfilling one ultimate goal: genocide of the Vampire race. Yet at the same time, she was just a kid.

She pondered, for a moment, the holy man's promises. Would the American justice system have reformed her into a good little girl? No way, she thought. She'd have just falsified her rehabilitation and, upon release, continued her reign of terror and destruction anew. Would the vampire's "eternal" imprisonment have kept her locked away? Patsy doubted it. No prison could hold a single being forever, she decided. There was only one way to knock the problem on the head, and the immortal succeeded in doing exactly that without fail. Mostly.

By then, the self-debate was starting to give her a headache. Her mind was far too much of a mess already to properly consider the day she had been through, so she pushed it to the back of her mind while she counted off the amounts she needed for her clothes and and Rivet repairs into neat piles of ten-dollar bills and dumped the remainder to one side. She then pushed herself onto her feet and, after double-checking her towel again, collected her smartphone from the bedside table and proceeded to dial a number all the way in Florida. And waited for the answer.

"Hello? Aye, it's me. You wouldn't happen to be free tomorrow, would yer? Nah, nothin' urgent. Just had me worst day in a couple of decades, is all. Honestly? I'm feelin' a lot less human than I want to be."

Sam: "My mind is a swirling miasma of scintillating thoughts and turgid ideas."
Max: "Me too."

Štátna Zbrojovka v Borgalských Vrchoch
Several Hours Later..

Soft, yellow-white light flickered into the office as the doors opened before him, slate-gray metal sliding aside and into the walls with the same near-silence as always. By the time they'd come fully open, the warm illumination of the now-active overhead lights had chased the darkness from the room, back through the large window panes that formed the wall behind his bulky, semicircular desk, the twinkles of the stars outside upon the firmament a welcome and soothing sight.

He disliked meetings. He didn't hate them. But he disliked them, yes. What did they even need him for in those gargantuan conference rooms? They knew how to do their jobs. Perhaps if he relocated the meetings here? It was a thought. After all, despite the gray-on-gray decor of the metal plating that composed floor, walls, and ceiling, he felt much more at ease here. Probably because the place was more defensible. He smirked. Once infantry, always infantry.

With an eased sigh, he gradually rounded the extensive desk, the four fingers of his orange-skinned hand giving the large chair a pull to come about so he could sit. Another sigh left his nostrils as the firm leather responded, supporting his weight.

Then he looked upon the transparent display of the holoscreen. A message, hm? Odd. He hadn't expected any more for today. A thought commanded it displayed. The screen obeyed.

Thank you again for letting me borrow Halmss' Human Memorial Museum. It proved very helpful in my undertaking. Unfortunately, I managed to reduce the land warfare exhibit by two of the Lion exosuits. I promise to make any reparations you see fit. All other exhibits have been returned to their proper places, and the museum has been again anchored in the channel of Kago Park.

Since you will no doubt wish to know now, the operation was a success. Marginal, but a success nonetheless. This Earth was much, much more chaotic and divided than I had previously thought, and I have to admit in many ways frightens me. If you would like, I have attached some of my collected data for you to review. You might find it interesting.

Once again, thank you for lending me the museum.

- Vyachslav

He regarded the display for some time. A human world in chaos, hm? There was something new. Well, he supposed it couldn't hurt to take a look at the data. It took but a command after all, and...

...

...

. . .

Well. He definitely hadn't expected that. Vyachslav had always carried a habit of understatement, but this was a tad much even for the young sun eater. If these humans didn't watch it...he shuddered to think of the consequences.

"Oxana." he spoke with a firm and commanding tone, "Inform the fleet they are to make ready to get under way. We are leaving within the hour. Prepare the oblivion gate. We will be going far."

The intercom he'd addressed crackled a curt confirmation. There was no need for more. As he stood again and turned to look out the windows into the star-filled darkness, he knew his orders were on their way. It wouldn't take long. And then...well, he supposed he'd just have to take a look at this...'Earth'...himself.

From the window he watched it all come alive, light upon light crashing into the darkness, shadow upon shadow chased from the black-gray plating of hull after hull as the fleet made ready to depart...
