(Open Season) Isla de la Muerte Inslito ((The big fight thread))
E4, below
The hooded girl frowned and raised her hand, solid walls of bright blue energy appeared for a few brief seconds all over the room, briefly separating everyone in little rooms before disappearing. “Can we not fight here? The island’s probably hell by now, so how about we think of leaving before we die here?” saying that, she stretched her hand out to Patsy, trying to telekinetically pull her fingers apart to let go of her grip on Tomb’s throat.
The second and third were deftly on the move however, and had by now entered what remained of the plant structure proper... the two heading in the general direction of the elevator...
|
The armed T.R.I.N.N.I.T.Y machine emptied its missiles upon the building but Priest left that up to Tyran and Jack Wolfe to deal with. He had to secure the elevator. In the blink of an eye, the holy man was gone, speeding through the plant in a burst of wind. To him, time had slowed to a crawl and every movement left a trail of heat and air where disturbances occurred. He slowed to a jog when he had raced past the two robots and turned to face them, arms outstretched and placed in their paths so as to use their own momentum against them in a knock-down attack commonly referred to as a clothes line.

the tone of the words on the wall as he pulled his claws from the material was unmistakable: time to face the consequences. As far as Vyachslav was concerned, the scientist had earned his fate, or rather would earn it depending on what he did from here on out. Whether that resulted in his life, death, or something else entirely was irrelevant.
Vyachslav thus set himself into motion toward the elevator as well, thankful that bringing the ship had paid off after all. Though he was loathe to call them 'forces' the exos it had sent to the plant would now prove invaluable. It seemed it'd take him a while to get there, after all...

Meanwhile, she thought she saw something in the corner of her eye. Investigating, she turned her head in the direction of the swamp-green mechanoid.

And then came new orders.
Locate Tomb.
The command set it into motion, and it rose, proceeding on a course that would take it outside the perimeter formed by the gang members, where it intended to turn and begin a patrol of roughly the same shape...

The Human Memorial Museum traveled southward without pause, scanners and sensors observing and cataloging as it went, its controlling intelligence sifting through a myriad of different signals and storing them for later use. One such processed path was that of the helicarrier upon the cliff, the aircraft recategorized from potentially hostile to presently neutral entity. Still, it kept observing, at the ready just in case. It knew humans were untrustworthy. Indeed, chances were it knew better than just about anyone else currently around...

Conall snarled at the ghouls and gave them a menacing growl.
"We aint got time for you undead, as your fate has already been sealed by whatever that has been unleashed on this island. I think whoever your master is, he dont give a rats tail about you lot."
Then he looked at Miranda.
"You heard the boss, time to head back to the sub." He said and shivered at the thought of entering that cramped tincan again.

Erez'Zul nodded to Screecher, picking up Tombs bag, or rather boat, they both walked towards the elevator, getting inside, ready to leave.
"The girls right...its time we left, the elevators leaving in exactly 10 seconds and it will take time for it to come back down, either get in where we can continue this as we move, or stay behind and possibly die.....7 seconds..."
Screecher reached out towards the button to make the elevator go, his finger hovering over it, ready to move as soon as they could.

Destroyer was following Hugo every step of the way, wading through the red liquid as he did, if anything in there wanted to try and bite him they would most likely break their teeth on his near impenetrable skin.
He hoped that after releasing them they might let him pass without a fight, especially considering he wasnt human and probably wouldnt be on their menu.

Knowing she would soon be on the receiving end of opposition, Patsy swung the grenade launcher into her free hand, a wild guess hopefully bringing her aim straight at the oncoming Damsel.
|
Damsel didn't stop to see the weapons aimed at her but increased her footspeed to 500 mph. Time seemed to slow to a crawl, making her next series of movements appear like teleportation to the untrained eye. Whether the fields erected by the short girl loosened the madwoman's grip on Tomb, or not, Damsel wrapped her arms around the little girl and disappeared into the back of the elevator, looking skywards through the open emergency hatch to see her husband.

...the only result of Pious' stopping was a duplication thereof by the machines. They didn't spread their arms of course, instead only staring blankly at the Pries through unmoving optics. It seemed they were confused, waiting for what he would do next...
|
The momentary confusion proved invaluable as Priest back-flipped into the open elevator shaft, allowing himself to fall through onto the box just as his wife entered and looked up at him, giving him the signal. With superb strength, the Priest tugged at the elevator cables and flew straight up through the steel and concrete ceiling of the elevator shaft. With the box airborne and dangling from the cables held tightly within his grip, Priest flew Eastward, away from the all-consuming tentacles and toward the Island shores. Pistol, Tyran and the army of thugs were still on the battlefield, providing cover fire and trying their best to distract the others from spotting the escaping elevator box. Interestingly, it's doors were still half open, even as the Priest flew closer to the ground.
At this point, those inside the lift would notice Damsel and the kidnapped little girl was nowhere to be seen. The extraction manoeuvre was working.

"Why you LITTLE!!"
Now the immortal was furious. And looking right at the lift as it flew beyond its designed boundaries and away from the plant. Though she rushed into what remained of the shaft and took aim at the escaping box with one of her rockets, she soon found herself showered with debris before she could even get a clear shot, forcing her to retreat back inside.
"Idiots..." she hissed. "Flamin' dipsticks the lot of yous!"

Lucard shrugged to himself. "if the girl isnt down there then this is a waste of my time, im heading to the plant" he said in a tone that said dont try and stop me. Without waiting for a reply he began flying back the way they had come, towards the entrance and out towards the plant.

The lance let out a scream, and became motionless. the Katana it held dropped to the floor and its armour crackled with more and more lightning flashes. After a few seconds, the machine selfdestructed, the explosion strong enough to make the earth move.
Elsewhere (cant remember where Blade and his group are)
Blade had heard Pious's message and gave a worried look to his wife as she set off to help. He wanted to go with her, but the tentecles sprouting from the ground proved Pious to be correct, it was time to leave. He grabbed Buzzclaw and Maria in an arm each, and ran as fast as he could for the extraction point.

The ferals reached the Plant just as the explosion went off. They smelled Tomb in the air and began to follow the scent, tracking the girl with dark murder in their hearts.
Miranda shouted "Boys give me some covering fire!"
She started to back off to the sub and fired off a few last shots at the zombies. She climbed onto the sub and opened the hatch.
"Come on boys time to leave.... NOW!" Miranda shouted and fired a few more shots at the zombies.
Miranda waited until her boys had got in and climbed down the ladder herself and into the Sub.
I have had my eyes opened... and without the people I love I would of never of gained my wings...
Conall was not far behind Miranda as she went into the sub. He threw the ghouls a last glance and climbed into the sub. He gave them the werewolf bird and then he closed the hatch above him.

"The piggin' hell's goin' on up..." she ranted before looking up. "...THERE!"
The immortal then flung the grenade launcher behind herself, opting to grab one of the rockets instead and point the thing directly up, where she spotted the airbourne lift above.
"This is gonna sound corny as flip, but... say hello to my little friend!"
And then she opened fire, sending the rocket screaming toward the lift.

The girl stood in place for a moment as her mind caught up with the events and quickly looked towards the elevator at the noise as it took off. She clenched her fists in anger and floated into the air before quickly flying into the elevator shaft and up, deflecting bits of debris aside. She raced after Pious and the elevator, aiming to float by its side of the open door with a view inside. “What..?” she asked in confusion as Tomb and Damsel weren't in the elevator, not noticing what Patsy was doing the way down.
Miranda took her seat in the sub and concentrated on her amulet...
"Me and Conall are in the Sub and its prepared but there are still zombies on the dock. Let us know if you still need us to stick around but if the zombies start on the sub we are leaving" Miranda sent through the amulet.
I have had my eyes opened... and without the people I love I would of never of gained my wings...

Erez'Zul was knocking around in the elevator, hitting the walls and Screecher alike, trying to stabilise himself was completely useless, he could barely stand.
As the small girl looked inside the flying elevator he decided to get out.
Jumping outside of it he floated in mid air, Screecher following him a second later. He didnt know what had just happened, was angry at whatever the hell just happened, and upon looking up at Pious, was absaloutely infuriated that he was the one causing such trouble.
He started coughing, placing his hand over his mouth, his eyes watering a little. The volcanic ash was encompassing the island, making it hard to breath and in some areas even see clearly.
He looked down at where the new hole had just been formed, pushing Screecher hard and flying backwards as far as he could as well. Below him he saw the missle aimed right at them, trying to get out of its way.
He looked up at the elevator again, and even though he was absaloutely livid with what Pious had done, instict kicked in.
"GET OUT OF THE WAY!!"

Old Insidium Plant (E4)
With the girl thought to be Tomb up on her shoulder in a fireman's hold, Damsel sped out of the elevator just as it went airborne and raced towards the Northern shore. She knew her husband would head the other way, Eastwards, stalling near the plant and creating as much of a diversion as possible. Rescuing Tomb was on her now; the safety of the prisoner was her sole mission. Soon, the villains on the Island would inevitably give chase. Unseen, she raced towards the outer edge of the North Jungle, making a sport of avoiding both tentacles, flowing lava and falling fireballs.
North Jungle (C3)
Misdirection. Blades of grass kicked up as Damsel increased her footspeed yet again, closer to the speed of sound. In the blink of an eye she was gone.
Landborough Port (A8)
Clear sand erupted upwards into the burning skies as Damsel arrived at Landborough Port. "Destination analysis" she whispered, but didn't stop running.
Eastern Cliff (F11)
She circled round the bend of the Island shores once again and arrived at the Eastern Cliff edge where the helicarrier was settled, avoiding the volcanic clouds.
Hidden Submarine Docks (F11)
Damsel entered deep into the caves there and exited once again. It had all happened within sixty seconds and now she was back at Landborough Port.
Landborough Port (A8)
Damsel believed her misdirection mission was done. She hoped to have successfully blurred or thrown off whatever scent or trails she'd left behind. She then leapt onto Miranda Payne's submarine and knocked on the hatch. "Open up! Open up! It's me Damsel" she yelled down to those inside.
E4
The hooded girl looked down quickly at where the blond man was screaming from. Noticing the projectile she quickly flew away, covering her mouth up with her mask again. Although moved to a safe distance, she kept sight of Pious, ready to chase after the man with all her speed should he attempt to fly away.
Inside the Sub A-8
Miranda heard the knocking on the hatch and cautiously headed to the ladder and pulled one of her pistols. She signalled up to the hatch to her gang and Conall and climbed the ladder. Miranda carefully opened the hatch while pointing her pistol towards the gap and slowly kept tight hold of the hatch as she opened it.
I have had my eyes opened... and without the people I love I would of never of gained my wings...
Time is a funny thing. Some see it as a river. Others deny it exists. Still more think it repeats. But whatever the truth, or perhaps a truth, there is one thing definite about time.
It is relative.
A machine, for instance, has no concept of time. Oh sure, it can count cycles and add, multiply, or divide them ad nauseum, but none of it has any meaning. To a machine, there was no short and there was no long, abstract terms unfitting of something that 'thought' in terms of gigahertz...or more...
Sector E4
When Pious had moved, so had two machines. They hadn't been as fast as the speedster of course, that fact that they'd had no idea that they should hurry contributing more to that than anything else, but reason aside the result had been that they'd arrived at the edge of the elevator shaft just as the Priest had pulled the cabin into the air.
With a half-open door through which they had looked.
One instant. One picture. One click. It had been enough. They had seen.
The girl.
They had processed. They had calculated. They had matched - and the match had been positive.
Tomb.
TARGET FOUND_
The news had jumped off like a coyote on spring-loaded rocket boots that very same instant. What One and Two knew, Three knew. What Three knew, the ship knew. What the ship knew, Vyachslav knew. The rest had proceeded like clockwork from there. An electronic signal had moved mechanical hands. The exos' visuals had been locked in Tomb's profile. Their correlation with the humans' double-Is had identified hers. The search had been over. The chase had begun.
The order to eliminate had been entirely redundant.
Metal fingers had clamped down on the elevator's lower edge in the manner of an industrial vise, but it had been no use. Pious' power had been too great, and the Priest had lifted them along with the cabin without so much as a howdy-do.
But still they had seen.
All three of them had seen, even the one still on the ground, that one instant in time when Damsel and Tomb had left the cabin frozen motionless in their memory banks, sent back to the ship, back to their master before the woman's second foot had left the cabin floor.
Thus they had aimed, but never gotten the chance to fire. The first two had stopped mid-motion in response to a missile alert, releasing their grips the moment they'd managed to plot an acceptable arc down to the ground. Regrettably, it had been too little, too late. The rocket had been fired at too close a range for them to shoot down before it hit, and so it happened that in a strange twist of fate - unless the Priest or someone else did something now - they'd be directly caught in the explosion and smashed to the earth as useless hunks of metal.
The third certainly wouldn't be doing anything to save them. It might've been far enough away to take a shot at the rocket, but unlike One and Two, Three's line of fire didn't intersect the thing's path from head-on. There was nothing it could do.
What it could do was pursue. The mechanoid bolted after Damsel as best it could, but unfortunately its top speed couldn't even hope to match hers. It didn't take long at all for the distance to become too great to track, and with all the fire about, following a thermal trail had become nigh impossible. It still knew where to go thanks to its link with the ship, but the chance that it'd actually matter had reached just about nil...

The Human Memorial Museum churned the waters on a course due south. The ship may not have been able to track Tomb itself, but so long as Vyachslav could direct it, it knew exactly where to go.
Below the waves, just beneath the waterline, a large hatch ground open on each side of the hull. With echoed gurgles, a pair of objects roughly twice the size of the mechanoids that had been encountered at the Insidium plant left their mother vessel with great speed, headed for Tomb's new position...

The Lance focused in on the fast moving werewolves, its front armour taking their brute strength and retaliating with electrical strikes with every touch. THe number of volts coursing through the machine's body was equivalent to lightning, singing flesh and fur alike.
As the punches hit home, the Machine turned to bring its Swords around in a sweeping arc, slashing at the werewolves and Tyran. It launched another volley of missles into the building, leaving its missle pods empty until a resurply could be issued. |
The pack all screamed at almost the same time... being knocked back by the electrical assault. The air has a sickmaking smell of burned furr and flesh. Jack slowly looked up... slightly stunned. He knew his regenerative ability would restore him. But as it was he couldn't touch the blasted thing.
A nod to the knights resulted in a combined blast of dark energy. They shot them wild though. Not watching where Tyran was at all... and not caring either. "Don't damage the hero!", Jack tried to reason. But he was not sure if these zombies even heard him. |
He held his swords out and they changed shape, from the machete shape they were to a more streamlined katana. The blades were now Impervium katanas, slender and sharp. Tyran took flight and struck at the machine, one blade at a time, focusing on the joints where he believed it was vulnerable. In his haste he had failed o notice the strong attack from his allies of the time and...
Tyran was caught off-guard and blasted into the undergrowth.. or at least what remained, shrapnel piercing his body in several places. He lay there, motionless and silent.

Damsel beamed down into the submarine. "Tomb is safe" she muttered, glancing worriedly past the zombies. Despite the misdirection and her sonic speeding, she felt as though she was still being pursued. "I've played my part of the scheme! Now please let me in" she urged.
"This is gonna sound corny as flip, but... say hello to my little friend!" And then she opened fire, sending the rocket screaming toward the lift.

Priest was so focused on getting attention away from the escaping Damsel that he couldn't see or tell what was happening below. He thought he heard someone yelling 'get out of the way' so he turned his attention earthward and noted the utterer was an unknown blonde. He was surprised to also see a hooded girl and a green-veined man. Had they been inside the lift? Damsel had failed to mention there were other passengers on board the Priest Elevator Airline. He had wondered why the thing was so much heavier than calculated. By the time it had become apparent why the man was yelling, it was too late to evade.
Priest looked on with shock horror as a missile collided with the two machines he had seen earlier, causing an explosion that ricochetted with such a massive shockwave it cancelled out the Priest's own energy propellant flight and sent him careening towards the ground, momentarily stunned and disoriented.

The Ferals had been confused by the movements of Damsel and had stayed where they were while she moved. Unfortunately for Tomb's kidnappers, this meant they were still close to the port. They had hurried as fast as they could back towards the sub, both ferals making a lunge at Damsel as she spoke to the partially open hatch.

Lucard hovered down to the priest, his pistols drawn, one aimed at Pious and the other aimed at those around him. "that will do everyone" he said in a calmed tone, shacking only a little with the maddening rage inside him.
"So you seek to betray the Court do you Pious? and your supposed to be the good guys. Tomb is not yours to punish! now tell me where your little wife has taken her!". Lucard's voice raised up, he could smell Tomb's absence, and Damsel's. It was the only logical result that the woman had taken the girl.
"Tell me, truthfully, and i will allow you to go and help the....rather nastily injured cat man in the bushes, just over there". The smell of Tyran's blood wasnt helping Lucard's basic instinct just to kill Pious and Suraya right then and there.
