Witihin the Mine

Emerald looked around, panic clearly gripping her a little but the sight of Vyachslav suffering brought an odd clarinty to her. Continuing to fly with her feet mere inches above the uneven ground below she moved over to the strange draconian creature. Tilting her head to one side she watched him closely for just a moment before holding a hand up towards his head, a green mist starting to materialise and swirl around it.

"Come on, we need to get you healed and then we all need to move. I won't survive lava and I'm sure it'll be uncomfortable at the very least for the rest of you!"

E4

Erez'Zul listened to her talk, normally if someone had attacked one of his own he would have fought back, the fact that she attacked them and seemed to think it was now ok angered him greatly, though for the sake of his ruse he decided to make little of it.

"You may be here to save her from herself but we're here to save her from everything else."
Erez'Zul quickly looked behind him at the hole in the wall, suddenly remembering what happened to Screecher, he jumped through the hole falling to his knees beside Screecher.
Opening Screechers coat he revealed his blue and green armor underneath, a gem in the centre of the chest. Erez'Zul placed his hand over the gem, a blue light emenating from his hand, then from the gem.

Though Screecher was unconcious, his eyes remained open, though they werent glowing green anymore, just a dull shade of grey.
As the blue light faded from the gem, Screechers eyes started to glow a brighter green. He suddenly sat upright, brushing the pieces of his broken glasses from his face, shaking his head lightly he looked at Erez'Zul for a moment, then at the hole in the wall.
Erez'Zul pulled Screecher up, walking slowly with him through the hole and back into the room with Damsel in it.

He glared at Damsel as he entered the room.
"The Nighthunters....you know i had heard good things but right now....bugger it, either go find your own path or YOU can tag along with US, we were here first after all and i dont really trust you enough right now to let you lead the way."

D5 Within the mine: Elevator

Elsewhere Destroyer was still within the elevator, and only now did it occur to him that being inside a metal box during what seemed like an earthquake of some kind probably wasnt the smartest idea in the world.

"Fine whatever" Damsel shrugged, stepping in line to follow the two. Deep within her she felt guilt for what was criminally an unprovoked attack yet her stubborness stopped her apologising. She kept silent now, not wanting to reflect any more badly on her team yet she maintained the venomous persona.

"If you think you know the way, lead on."

In the elevator heading down.

The elevator headed downwards, downwards and even further down, rock shaft turning to re-enforced grey metal. Then the elevator moves down into a wide open area, it glows a blood red, with a series of clear tubes pulsing with a red glowing liquid flowing around the room. Large cylinders made of a dark metal and glass like substance contain people, well parts of people, the figures within missing their arms and legs.

A poster on the wall reads “Now entering Viral Lab Alpha. Please wear protective clothing. Those found without proper clothing will be staked through the heart.”

C5

The road here is for the most part undamaged, the jungle is below with a steep cliff face leading down, to the south the road bends around the mountain, to the south east it might be possible to see a large metal and concrete building complex (E4) through the ash that falls like hot flakes of snow.

F11
Closer inspection of the cave.

Deeper within the cave the shadows and darkness don’t sit naturally, the sound of crashing waves are odd too, as if stilled by a blanket or closed door.

F6->F5

Unaware of their passenger the APC continues to ‘punch it’ crushing the grass and minor obstacles like logs and abandoned couches under its tracks. That is until it hits a land mind, the explosion ripping the left tracks off sending the speeding vehicle into a sharp turn before it stops just short of the road in F5. The sounds of people swearing in Russian can be heard, before the APC door begins to open.

E4

During the fight a filling cabinet had been smashed, revealing a long corridor with a set of metal doors at the end. A small button is next to the doors.

Phone call.

The detectives phone call would be met by a bored sounding woman who speaks in a nasally obnoxious voice.

“One moment please. Redirecting your call.” She says.

The sound of a modem dialing out would occure, before there is a click and a girls voice speaks, she sounds if not upset, then like she has been recently crying, her voice rough and hoarse.

“Hello, this is the Store, Tomb speaking, is your request urgent? Because this is really not a good time.”

Brawling Cactus from a distant planet.

In the elevator heading down

Destroyer walked into the room, slowly looking around at the armless forms.
He took a few steps forward before turning around on the spot, facing the elevator he pushed on the metal doors, pushing harder and harder until they started to bend inwards.
He bent the doors back into the elevator shaft so that anyone trying to use the elevator would crash into them, at the very least it would slow them down.

He turned back to face the room, walking up to the poster and ripping it off the wall, he scrunched it up and placed it in his pocket.
He looked around the room, checking for other doorways or elevators. He walked up to one of the large cylinders holding the bodies, tapping on the glass to see if they were still alive somehow.

E4

Erez'Zuls smalest demon had been staying still, watching he scene from the corner of the room, having seen his master change and take down the larger demon, it had decided not to move for now, trying to remain unnoticed.

He then noticed the corridor leading to a hidden door, screeching loudly he jumped at the entrance to the corridor then ran out of the hole in the wall made by Damsel.
Erez'Zul looked at the demon run away, then back at the corridor.
"There....i think thats a good a place as any to go, though considering a Demon just seemingly ran from it i would be careful..."
He placed a hand on Screechers chest, getting a nod in return to show he was ok to continue. He edged towards to the corridor making sure there was nothing down it before walking towards the door at the end of the corridor.

Damsel followed the two men down through the corridor. The strangeness of the presence of these demons not lost on her.

"Helicarrier to Priest" came the voice in Pious's mind. "We have on board Altair Stevens, Maiden of the Layline, Sentinel and Hellskiller. They're fine but err, the latter is not so good. We're going to head back Stateside and see if we can't get any help. Over and out."

The Port Pier A-8

Miranda pushed the button for the periscope viewer and looked through the scope and looked at the island. "What the heck... What the hell have they done... I hope Pious is fine." Miranda frowned seeing the volcanic eruption and turned to her gang plus the werewolf. "Right peeps... looks like we are going in hot, the mountain it seems is a volcano so no heading for the mountain" The Sub seemed to slow down and stop "Here we go lets give them Hell boys" Miranda said opening the hatch and motioning her thugs to get going "Come on boy, theres fun to be had" Miranda said with a smile before she headed up the ladder and into the battle.

Grass hurts.

It hurts a lot.

It hurt like about three hells in one go. Something Patsy had been making quite the effort trying to ignore while she struggled to pull herself back onto the APC, not that it was easy, though. Getting a pancaked couch into the face wasn't exactly painless either.

But Patsy persevered. In spite of feeling the searing pain of countless blades of grass scraping against her midriff coupled with BRAND NEW! jaw-ache from the discarded and flattened furniture, the immortal pulled through, and in turn pulled herself up onto the APC, planting both feet firmly onto the vehicle's bumper.

The triumph was short-lived, though, as soon as the Carrier run over the land mine. At first she was lucky, the sudden shock of the explosion sending her swinging hip-first into the back of the vehicle with a thud, but her luck didn't last much longer either, as she found out all too well when the APC swung round and flung the poor girl off.

"OOF!"

Patsy rolled for a good bit ahead of the APC before finally stopping. Thankfully face up this time, but feeling another bout of dizziness instantly.

"That does it," Patsy grumbled as she slowly pulled herself upright. "When this is over, I'm askin' for double-pay!"

The immortal crawled toward the now-motionless APC and listened carefully to the ranting within. Russians, she thought to herself, recognising the language. However, as she crept up to the right-hand side of the vehicle and crouched down behind the rear wheel, she silently hoped they knew a decent amount of English as she waited for the door to open.

After all, as recognisable as the language was to Patsy, one's grasp of any foreign tongue can get rusty after a several decades of not having to speak it.

Sam: "My mind is a swirling miasma of scintillating thoughts and turgid ideas."
Max: "Me too."

Tyran sliced through the plants with his swords as the two men followed. He stopped and looked to Priest as his fellows took a defensive stance, expecting trouble.

"Of course Pious. Show me the way and I'll follow you."

Tyran gestured to his comrades to get up and they relaxed.. slightly.

Priest nodded at Tyran and proceeded into the dark caves to investigate. The further he flew the more he noticed that inside this cave, the movement of light and shadow were unnaturally distorted. The sound of crashing waves are odd too, as if noise was snuffed out by a blanket, coming in from behind closed doors.

With peaked intrigue, the Priest propelled himself deep into the hole and quickly hit a wall. "Some kind of clear, protective field in here Tyran" he yelled back, before peering in to study the barrier. "Come take a look at this. The composition of force here repels, quite strongly, like an elasticated build up of tension. The only way we're getting through this is to counteract that pressure. Go in hard and penetrate with force. Hopefully we can break the rubber."

Vyachslav replied with a silent, unmoving look. He wasn't truly disregarding of course, but a lack of mobile facial features made it somewhat difficult to express himself in a visual manner. Normally, and especially among his own species, that wasn't a problem. Here however, things ran into a bit of a wall.

Fortunately, that wall was made of rock, and that rock wasn't harder than his claws. So he wrote again.

THANK YOU

By now, the area was of course nearly pitch-black, what sparse lighting the few still-functioning mine lanterns had once provided snuffed out along with their flow of power, broken by the eruption. The only sources of illumination now were Vyachslav's orange eyes, giving the place an eerie, gloom-filled taint of twilight. Not that he gave much though to that. He didn't depend on light to see, and he was fairly sure none of the four vampires here required it either.

FINE
UNSERIOUS

His 'language' might've left something to be desired, though. Small wonder. No middleman to handle the thought/word barrier for him, after all.

MOVE YES
WHAT GOAL?

After etching those last letters into the rock, Vyachslav set himself into motion down the tunnel and toward the elevator again, mindful of those about him, as he expected them to do the same, judging from Emerald's words...

The Port Pier A-8

Conall smirked to himself and followed behind Miranda and her men up the ladder preparing himself mentally for what would be waiting on shore for them.

"Looks like they have started the fun without us it seems" He muttered to himself as he saw what seemed to be a heavy battle at the port.

Without any further words he changed himself into his werewolf shape and started to make his way towards the battle at the port.

Blade was considering his next move when Pious's communitcation came through. He replied simply with "Island unstable, suggest regrouping, mercenary opposition large and heavily armed. requesting orders."

As he thought it, Buzzclaw and Maria Jones got to their feet, the rumbling of the earthquake had shaken them but they were soon good to go. Buzzclaw drew his bow and prepared for battle. Blade also drew his sword. It was time to take the fight to the mercenaries.

C5, Road to the Mine/Plant

The road here is for the most part undamaged, the jungle is below with a steep cliff face leading down, to the south the road bends around the mountain, to the south east it might be possible to see a large metal and concrete building complex (E4) through the ash that falls like hot flakes of snow.
Jack and Paul saw it first. Their wolf eyes helped to pierce the ash the best. That structure looked like a possible storage. A little to the left was also something... and there was movement. But it was hard to see what kind.

He looked back to the zombies following him. Their damaged leatherlike skin was covered with ash... the only thing very visible was the enchanted glow coming from their eyes. Like blood-red lights in the dark. The rest of the pack didn't seem very happy. Paul was still out of balance missing his arm. The wound was fully closed though. All of them tried to get ridd of the ash from their furr... and the occasional irritated growl was heard.

"I think to the left is subterrenean... let us try the plant first. This way! And watch out for the cliff!", he ordered. No sound was heard but he knew they had understood. (Passing D5)

Elizabeth was thinking about where to search next. This was the first structure she passed... a structure that could hold a lab or a lair. The wind carried the ash their way... She blew some away and shook her hair to get it out. This was not something she liked. And she had to start somewhere. The signs at the entrance showed others where probably already in. So she re-formed her shadow fall and went in. Urging Vladimir to take point with the knights as last to cover their backs.

The Phonecall

A phonebooth somewhere in Cap au Diable

I reached in to my coat pocket, pulling out a few tatty business cards, each of them with an alias I'd used before. I shuffled through them one handed, running the titles through my mind "Dog catcher... nope. Antique dealer... nope. Estate agent.. nope. Ah... Girls4Guns Magazine! That might just work."

I put on my best gay affectation as I spoke in to the receiver.

"Well hello there Miss Tomb! I'm so sorry to disturb you but my client was most insistent that I contact you right away! My name's Tobias McTavish and I work for the magazine Girls4Guns and my boss told me I just had to find you!"

"We were wondering if it would be possible to set up an interview within the next couple of days as my client is most anxious to meet you in person. You see, they spotted you in The Store and just knew you'd be perfect for the job!"

"They just have to have you! Of course, it pays very well, and all your expenses would be met. Would you like me to pop by The Store say, tomorrow so we could discuss things further?"

"If that's inconvenient just suggest a time and a place."

I smiled, hoping that it would carry across in to my voice, waiting for a response.

Erez'Zul walked to the end of the corridor, being careful with each step in case of hidden traps, as he reached the door he had another look around the corridor, then back at Damsel and Screecher.
He pressed the button on the wall, hoping it simply opened the door and didnt activate something else.

D5, In the Mine

The Lance's great bulk would stop anyone passing it without phasing through the machine, but it didnt stop it turning. It scrapped the sides of the mine as it lost sight of Lucard and began to head back the way it had come. Its sensors flashing to detect any obstacle. It's heavy foot falls echoed down the mine as it began to walk again, its topside guns barely scraping the roof of the mine, spining in anticipation for a fight.

Tyran and the others made their way to the cave, slowly making their way in. The two soldiers followed Tyran slipping on some nightvision goggles as he strode in carefully avoiding the natural features of the cave. Eventually his party came to the barrier where the Priest was awaiting. They all stared at it, one of them approaching it and trying his luck with a punch, letting a grumble slip out as let his gun fall on its strap, clenching his hand as it hurt, a lot.

"Hmm, strange. Definitely a barrier but what kind?"

Tyran stroked over it gently, brushing against the surface tension of the field.

"Only one way to find out" said the Priest, backing up just far enough to allow some distance between himself and the barrier. After some meditation, his eyes glowed a bright hot red, burning with extreme fire. Calmly and slowly, Priest performed a sequence of meditative arm gestures which brought his chi energy to it's maximum potential. The air around him began to haze, then sizzle until it combusted into a blinding white-hot glow of energy. "Step back" he called to Tyran, before exploding out an optic blast with his laser beam eyes that seemed to burn on forever.

"There" he said, after the attack was done. "That should weaken it some. Let's pound on it and hope it shatters under pressure."

Tyran sighed slightly, drawing his blades, one of his mercs pulled out a circular device. Tyran shook his head.

"No grenades"

A muffled 'aw' came from behind the faceguard before they brought out a machete each and started slashing at the field, Tyran drew his swords and began rapidly cutting at it, faster than they could keep up with.

Pampering, the chance to be the centre of attention, to wear beautiful dresses and have everyone tell her how pretty she is, every little girls dream. She caught sight of her reflection in a mirror, no that isn’t her dream, that dream belongs to someone else.

“While I would be delighted to appear in your magazine.” She says watching the ghosts carry her words out of the room, the Necrotelicom, a handy marriage of necromancy and technology, part telephone part ghost chain gang.

“Currently my island is besieged by the forces of well they’d call themselves justice, and the turn out for the annual ‘Monster mash ‘. So I’m afraid the only way I’ll be appearing in your magazine is if you’re running a ‘Stars in Prison Stripes’ edition, or as its looking increasingly more likely, in the obituaries section.” She quirks a little smile as she says that.

<Translated from Russian>

<This is ******* crazy!> one of the soldiers says

<Quit your ******** Dimitri, we have been well paid for this.> Another says.

The doors of the APC open, six men sliding out, bruised and battered but otherwise unharmed by the rapid journey and explosive ending. Each are wearing dark Spetsnaz like uniforms, combat helmets and flak jackets, each is armed with an AK-47, which after a brief moment of confusion…

<Aiieeeee it’s Baba Yaga!> One of the soldiers screams out noticing Patsy and her current state.

They train their guns on Patsy.
“You who are you?” the squad leaders asks in rough, broken English.

The field sparks, and bulges, the air shifting as the darkness of the cave billows outwards, with a whumwhumwhum noise, the field breaks, revealing the cave to be much deeper, in fact an entire submarine dock was hidden by the field, machines running on automated programming are in the process of loading things into a medium sized submarine.

The machines are for the most part robotic arms mounted on the docks, though several are flatbed caterpillar tracked ones that drive back and forth delivering and receiving supplies from robotic arms.

The submarine is pink, and has been decorated with the ten thousand yard stare and smile of a ‘My Little Pony’.

A8

The port is in a right old state, the corrugated iron building lie in ruins, and pretty much anything flammable is on fire, the soldiers have either fled or now wander as mindless zombies, dragging their rifles as they look for prey.

Of course prey could very well mean the werewolf and gang members that had just arrived…

C5 And other Jungle areas.

Fire leaps from tree to tree, the jungle is burning as creatures both natural and created panic and run from the flames.

Across the Island.

Thick smoke rises up from the jungles, bringing the smell of burning wood and roasting meat. The wind pushes the smoke southwards.

D5

Is for the most part free, though currently it is filled with thick smoke and sparks whipped up from the jungle flames.

E4

With an almost cheery ding, the doors open to reveal… an elevator, large enough for four people, though it’d be snug if anyone was larger than the average human.

A-8 The Port Pier

Miranda looked around at the mess the docks had become and sighed, She knew she was late but theres not much she could do about that. Her heart sank when she saw the zombies hanging around dragging thier rifles along the ground. Miranda uttered something under her breath before whispering to Conall and her gang to watch out for the zombies. Miranda turned to Conall and asked "What should we do about these zombies I don't think we can help them much so should we put them out of their misery?"
