Patsy's grip tightened on the now-agonised flockadile's jaw as she felt them break apart before she finished up with a swift boot into the thing's mouth, pulling her hands away as she did and sending it somewhat unwillingly airborne for a few seconds at the least. She hoped anyway, seeing as she had still been feeling dizzy something awful since bashing her own head off a nearby rock and achy all over after the whole ordeal she'd just been through.

Amid all that, she still kept as best an eye on the creatures around her, though she noticed their blurred forms were getting a lot smaller very fast and their screeching growing much more quiet with every second.

And then it all went quiet. Great, the immortal thought to herself. Now she could relax for a bit and clear her head. She gave herself a couple of minutes before dragging herself up, using the very rock she bounced off to support her. Looking around with a slightly diminished headache and clearer sight, Patsy confirmed that the abominations had well and truly...

"...buggered off." she muttered to herself.

Then the darkness came and went. Patsy shot a glance upward before reaching for her earpiece again. Hopefully it didn't take -too- much of a beating in the fight just now.

"Wilf?" Patsy uttered into the microphone.

"Yes, Miss Crusher," Wilf answered quickly. "I saw it too, as did Carly. And judging by the panic attack she seems to be having at the moment, she saw something else too."

"Any idea what it was?" the immortal sighed.

"Afraid not. Disregar-"

"WILF! I swear, if you're hidin' something from me about this job, I will come back over there and jam your flippin' face into the speedboat's rotors! Now do you have any flamin' idea what the flamin' flip that flippin' thing was? Be honest this time!"

"...No. We weren't even aware of anything like that until a minute ago."

Patsy sighed again. "Fine. Fine, whatever. Gonna check the area out before I head off again, alright?"

"Very well."

Releasing her finger from the button, Patsy looked down. Wonderful. She was feeling dizzy, aching all over, struggling to stand up straight and to top it all off... she was covered in mud.

"Flamin' hell..." the immortal groaned, pushing herself from the rock to stagger just a little futher North-West. "I swear, there'd better be a river or lake or somethin' somewhere around here."

She stopped for a moment to look up at the sky again through a gap offered by the canopy above.

"And it better not be full of pirahna-bunnies or summat stupid either!"

...G7, headed toward F6

Erez'Zul walked closer to the buildings now, Screecher walking next to him, slightly in front of him in case anyone else attacked them.
The demon that hasnt been shot to death pushed the other one from the roof, landing with a loud thud, a strange purple ooze seeping from its wounds.
The demon on the roof jumped went to where the soldiers were last seen, sniffing around for any clues of survivors.

Erez'Zul raised his hand, attempting to summon more demons, he ground shook slightly but he found he was unable to bring more in.
He looked at his hand for a minute before he felt something else that caught his attention. His eyes widened as a darkness seemed to reach over the island for just a brief moment, whatever it was....he'd never felt anything like it.
The two remaining demons cowered for a moment, obviously affected by whatever had passed over them. Screecher stared at the sky, and though his face remained expresionless as always, never blinking, his eyes glowed a brighter shade of green.
Something troubled him.

D5 Within the mine

Destroyer had reached an end to the passage way, a yellow, metal door of some kind, having never seen an elevator before he was unsure of what to do.
Suddenly he looked around, though he hadnt heard the voices for a while he felt something else, as if for a brief second someone had been stood behind him, and vanished.
He continued to stare down the passage way for a few minutes before turning back to the elevator, wondering what to do.

((Well, okay then.))

Sector D5
Within the Mine

To a human, half a second was indeed not long. To Vyachslav's people however, it was quite a sizable chunk of time. Unfortunately for him, his primary sense didn't work around here. The only clue of the passing presence he picked up was an undulation in the region's local fabric - far too little to clue him in on the nature of whatever it was. Admittedly, he also wasn't too interested in the thing.

The converse may well have been the opposite however, as the nature of both the links Vyachslav maintained with XANV and the ship offshore, as well as several of his senses felt very much arcane. Whether or not this was enough for the presence to take any interest in him was of course uncertain, but if it could pick up on such things, it certainly wouldn't have any trouble taking note.

Either way, for now at least he didn't pay it any mind, merely desiring to proceed down the tunnel more quickly. Since Emerald and the two DeFeurards hadn't shown any reaction to his proximity, he assumed they didn't wish to let anything bother them during their conversation, and as a result thought it best if he didn't impose on them by interrupting with a request to pass.

Instead, he placed his hands on the ground and began walking on all fours, creating plenty of clearance underneath his thin body for him to step over them. With room thus created, he increased his pace again, attempting to move past the vampire trio...

Unknown Location

The visibility of entries and exits into the room didn't have much relevance to XANV. Technically, neither did its appearance. After all, he was a cloud of angstromites. He didn't have any eyes.

He could probably steal some, though.

First thing was first, though. He spread out to explore, to analyze. The black sand he soon knew to be obsidian, and unless something interfered, he'd do the same to the rest of the place. What were the little silver balls? What did the red button do? More importantly, where did its contacts lead...?

Lucard looked very confused as the shadow passed overhead. He shuddered and looked around again. "we are being watched my young friend" Lucard stated, his tone quiet but loud enough for Maria to hear. He muttered something under his breathe and slowly drew his two pistols from their holsters. "Renaciance Italy eh? no wonder you see vampires as monsters like the rest do. I however, come from Roman Italy, and I do not like being watched..." Lucard dived to the side as a hail of bullets exploded from the tress.

Under the sea between the Isles and the City, a few minutes previous

The room was, as usual, in dimmly lit darkness. The screens showed three views this time. One of two brawling vampires, and it was this one that was being considered at the moment.

"Lucard Vas Normak. Vampire and dangerous. Both of the vampires there seem to be hunting Tomb. It would obcourse be a perfect test of our newest programme" said the TRINNITY corp head of scientific research.
"And an excellent opertunity to get rid of some dangerous foes too" added the head of military ops.

"Very well" said the head of TRINNITY in an amused voice "Lets see what the Lance can do. Let the show begin, Gentlemen"

D5

The Lance walked out of the shadows of the trees. It looked like a walking tank, a slightly rounded rectangular body, two arms with large katana blades, two legs obviously mechanical, and two belt fed miniguns attacked to the top of the main body. The Lance was heavily armed in impervium metal and had crackaling electricity running up and down its body. The twin miniguns turned to follow Lucard as he dodge the hail of bullets. Though the machine had no visible means of seeing, it was perfectly able to follow their movements.

Across the inside of the Lancer's head there was only one instruction. "Engage and Destroy Targets"

H3

Blade looked up as the sky darkened, and felt a cold shiver of worry. Something wasnt right here, and from the look on Maria and Johnathan's faces, they new it too.

Blade looked to Suraya and sent a message over the Amulet.
"Pious! Pious can you read me? We just lost the sun for a moment and I have a really bad feeling about this. We are pinned down with no viable means of escape other than to eliminate the opposition with extreme force. We need to regroup as soon as possible, splitting up on this Island was a bad idea. Do you copy?"

When the spells in the room detected a consciousness, they triggered.

Orange runes flickered over the orbs, letters and words written in an alien or forgotten language, flashing faster and faster, the room became warm, then hot, then hellish and finally the air burst into flames as it became super heated plasma.

Across the island.

The earth roars and shudders, if people are looking towards the mountain they will see the top of the mountain… explode!

Moments later hot ashes will begin to fall on every outdoor location, as mount Inconvenient begins to belch flames and molten rock.

F6

The jungle was burning, well not all of it, just the outer edges where a stream of melted rock had flowed down the mountain, occasionally the glowing oranges, fiery reds and cooling blacks of the lava will have veins of purple in it as the Insidium ore melts in the infernal heat. Towards F5 an APC is driving through the whipping ash, driving away from the mountain and the lava.

D5
Within the mine

The noise of the islands pain would be deafening, the mines echoing with the explosion, dust and small rocks falling from the roof of the tunnels. After a few minutes the echoes would stop, but in the sudden silence that follows it would be possible to hear the flowing of molten rock, carried through the walls of the mountain to speak into the mines.

B6

Rocks would fall, rocks and burning chunks of wood and goblets of melted stone as the mountain above the road exploded, looking towards B6 in a matter of minutes you'd see a river of molten rock would start to ooze its way across the road. Detonating several road side IEDs.

F11

A sheer cliff face, is set to the east, the edges are knife sharp, a broken down fence remains there, the wood long rotten away leaving lengths of rusty barbed wire. To the west the jungle thickens, the canopy cutting out light, hot ashes fall on the grass, some of the ashes glow a dull orange.

D5 Within the mine

Destroyer heard the rumbling around him, rocks and dust falling around him, he looked around again and wondered if it had anything to do with what he had felt before.
He decided not to wait any longer, hitting the button for the elevator he quickly stepped inside, going to wherever it wanted to take him.

E4

Erez'Zul could see the mountain in the distance explode.
"Well either she just self destructed or im guessing her base isnt over there....inside the buildings!"
Erez'Zul, Screecher and the two remaining demons ran inside the nearest building, immediately searching for any secret entrances of stairs to any basements.

Erez'Zul stepped inside the building last.
"Find any hidden entrances there may be, if there are any, myself and Screecher shall continue, i want you two to stay here and make sure no-one follows"

Maria looked up and swore, before simply bolting for the mine entrance.
"Whatever crazy plans you've got, count me out," she shouted, before phasing through the rubble like the other two before her.

Inside, Lawrence staggered slightly as they floor and walls shook. Leon looked around, balance seemingly unaffected, although his expression showed the rising concern he had not voiced yet.
They heard rapid footsteps and turned, Maria hurtling towards them like a bat out of hell, especially appropriate given the billowing of her black trench coat.
"This thing is, according to the explosion outside, a now active volcano," she shouted as she drew level with them. "If we're going to make a move, might I heavily suggest it's right freaking now?"

The three paused for a moment, suddenly noticing the giant, dragon-like creature that ambled past and over them, headed deeper down the tunnels.
"...Interesting," Leon said at last, with a wry little smile. "Still, we've got unfinished business. And, while getting snuffed out by lava is a painful and time-consuming pain in the metaphorical neck for us, I think it might be a tad more long lasting for you, m'dear," he added to Emerald. "If you want to stick around, I for one can't stop you...but we had best hurry if that's the case."

Mount Inconvenient (D7)

Side of the mountain was the worst place to have been teleported to at this moment and sadly for Hellskiller, The Sentinel, Altair and Maiden of the Layline, that's precisely where they'd been dumped. Except the darkness that enveloped the island only briefly, there was very little warning before the mountain exploded. The vicious volcano spouted an endless ocean of molten rock and clouds of hot ash, lethal at the current proximity. Petrified and held in place by sheer terror, the four looked skyward as certain death rained down their way.

"Mike! Simon! Mel!" yelled Altair, the first to snap out of the entrapment of fear. "Teleport! Teleport! TELEPORT!"

"Teleporting got us up here" said the Sentinel, taking flight. "I'm not ready to risk doing it again. What if we end up inside the mountain of lava?"

Nervous and under pressure, they continued to argue under the approaching flood of lava. Just then a flash of light zipped past, collecting Altair. Another shot past and collected the Maiden, leaving the two men stranded on the mountain as the stream of molten rock finally engulfed them whole.

Old Insidium Plant (E4)

A flash of golden light deposited the teleporting Damsel high up in the air just above the abandoned plant. Without her flight abilities engaged, she fell fast, going straight through the weakened concrete rooftop and collapsing unconscious inside the plant.

D5, Three km above the mine entrance

About three kilometer above the mines Elizabeth heard the sound of earth rumbling... the airpressure dropped and the and her servants did so too... for about 200 meters before she could stabilize the spell again. Then she saw the cause... The top of the mountain trembled and exploded!

Stones came their way in high speed and one hit the blood countess in the shoulder... dislocating it. She gave a soft scream and Vladimir uttered a shocked "Mistress!?"

"Don't worry about me! Use a dark torrent to repel whatever is still coming... NOW!", she yelled while she used her strenghth to pull her shoulder back in line. She knew her regenerative ability would take care of it... but that didn't take away the bloody pain.

Vladimir his dark spells kept the rest reasonably safe although not in one piece. One of teh zombie minions was scattered with small stones in his back and a knight had heavy burned sides. But these servants where dead already... a small inconvinience like this was not stopping them. Still this was not the place to stay.

There was a high point close to the entrance of the mine that the lava would never be able to get to. "We land there... That looks like an entrance. I want that secured!"

Elizabeth ordered her knights to cut down some trees and have her minions to build a wooden wall with it. Just in case... This would for now keep the entrance to the mines safe.

The earth trembled and the wolves fell that there was something wrong.. seconds before the erruption... "No!, Jack screamed... "Paul, Luke, Jason! Get to high ground.. follow the road but stay...", his voice cut off in the explosion and stone and fire landed around them... Big rocks too.

One of the knights yelled "Fire!", in his rusted dead voice. The wolves looked up and saw the stream coming. "Get the platoon up on those rocks... fast!", Jack ordered. "That is coming our way!"

The zombies formed a protective line for the wolves.. small stones and wood didn't harm them... although some lost some skin... and one even lost a left hand when a big part of melted roch hit it in full. Then the real danger unfolded as the stream of lava activated all the hidden claymores. Explosions followed and the zombies holding back the scrapnel where torn and ripped. Crawling and jumping, in which the wolves used some of the zombies to get on top, the platoon moved from rock to rock...

Then a bit of luck came their way... the rock they where standing on moved down the road on the lava stream closer to their destination and came to a standstill against the trees (C5).

Edge of the South Jungle (F11)

The passing darkness was not noticed within the jungle but the eruption of the volcano shook the very earth. Priest panicked, concerned for his team. "All units report! Landborough Town, Blade, Suraya, report!" he broadcasted, thinking through the amulet. As he did so, he flew back out of the jungle and onto the cliff face to get a better view of the volcanic destruction. "Landborough Port, Cornall, Miranda, report! Insidium Plant, Damsel, Hells, report! Insidium Mines, Altair, Maiden, report! Tyran, I'm at your designated sector but I don't see you anywhere. Are you okay? Is there anybody hearing me?"

Just then something at the side of the cliffs caught Priest's eyes. A huge cave at sea level.

Entering F6...

"Fwu-!?"

Patsy's only words as the sudden quake knocked her off her feet while she jogged through the jungle. Rather than a straight trip and faceplant, Lady Luck, it seemed, chose to spit on the immortal rather than smile upon her, an theory she was starting to agree with as she plummeted to the bottom of the embankment she was approaching at the time.

Face first. Into more mud.

"Miss Crusher?" Wilf grunted through the earpiece. "Patsy, come in!"

The immortal lifted her mud-covered face from the ground and pressed the button on her device. "Tell me you have an idea what just pulled the rug from under me."

"I do. Mount Inconvenient just lived up to its name."

Patsy didn't answer at first, choosing to spend the next minute or so scraping mud off her face while Wilf's latest warning brought back a particularly unpleasant memory.

"Patsy?"

"I hear you, Wilf." she answered, pushing herself back to her feet with a free hand. "Was it natural or forced, do you know?"

"Carly would have probably been able to give you an answer on that one if she wasn't...

"...freakin' out, still, huh?"

"Sadly. That said, though, it does seem well-timed, what with it happening so soon after that sudden bout of darkness."

"Aye, it is, like." Patsy murmured to nobody in particular. "Right, sod Landborough for now, then. Headin' North to check out the mountain."

"Miss Crusher?" Wilf added before Patsy could take a step forward. "Do be careful over there. I'm sure you'd rather avoid a repeat of..."

"Don't have to tell me once!" the immortal finished off, releasing the button and jogging Northward.

****

It didn't take her long before she had to stop herself running straight into a burning tree. Make that a wall of burning trees.

Patsy glanced about for a moment, looking for a suitable vantage point to check out the carnage ahead. Out of luck. The fire - presumably caused by Inconvenient's lava - was spreading fast, by the looks of things. Any attempt to climb or even super-jump to the canopy would have required dragging herself though more flames than she was in the mood for enduring.

"For flip's sake," Patsy muttered. "Indonesia all over again."

Turning her attention to the wall of burning jungle ahead, she adjusted her fingerless gloves and pulled them back to her wrists. If she couldn't get up the trees for a good look...

CRUNCH!!

...she'd need to plough -through- them, starting with a swift boot to one directly ahead. Unfortunately, the tree wobbled only slightly and the worst she did to the trunk was a nice little footprint in the bark, and the kick she dealt served to add to her existing aches more than anything.

CRUNCH!!

Take two. The tree wobbled more this time. A good sign.

CRUNCH!!

Third time was the charm. The tree finally collasped forward and in time, took the next few ahead down with it like dominoes. Enough to open up a decent view of the mess outside. And boy, was it a mess.

"Flamin' hell, Wilf." Patsy announced through the earpiece as she tip-toed along the fallen trunks to get as close to the lava flow as possible. Once she was close enough, she peered at the traces of purple among the molten rock's usual colours "Looks like I've just walked in on it and all. Some... hippie take on it, anyway."

"Can you see anything useful?" Wilf asked. "Any answer as to what caused the recent phenomena or a clue to Tomb's whereabouts?"

Patsy looked about and sighed. "Only thing I'm seein' right now is the jungle behind me, and unless I suddenly feel like usin' the wood to surf this goop for the three seconds I'd last before sinking into eternal pain, it's not the most usef-"

And that was when she saw the APC.

"Hold your horses, Wilf." Patsy added, peering at the speeding vehicle. "Found something better to surf. Back in a bit!"

"Patsy?"

She didn't answer. Instead, she hopped a number of steps back. Just enough, she figured, to build up a running jump to clear the lava stream and get herself perhaps a third of the way toward the APC. And she ran to the very end of the slowly disintegrating tree that sat halfway into the molten rock, her last step crushing the burning wood under her foot as she launched herself into the air, and over the stream.

She ached all over for her efforts, but it got her there. She didn't stop, either, ploughing as much strength as she could into another leap.

Third time's the charm. The APC was close. Painfully close. Patsy pushed herself into the air for the last time, aiming for the carrier's roof.

She made it. The problem was, 'it' was a slight error in her trajectory and a sloppy landing, both serving to send her slipping as soon as she set foot onto the vehicle, causing her to bash her chin off the back of the thing before she could manage to grab onto something.

"You flamin' buggerin' bugger!" The immortal ranted as she clung onto the vehicle as best she could.

Erez'Zul turned quickly as someone broke through the roof, half expecting a chunk of the mountain to have broken through. The last thing he expected was to see Damsel, to see her especially, he had not seen her since the Nighthunters freed the captives in Castle Bathory.

He stared at her for a few moments before snapping himself out of it, he decided to act fast in case she woke up.
He looked towards his demons, waving at them to continue to trying to find another door to lead them underground.
He waved his hand directly in front of him, a water like substance shimmering in front of him in mid air. showing his reflection in it.
He pulled his cloak around him, as he did his form changed, his clothes started to bubble like liquid then reform into something else, a tight black, leather uniform, his cape seemingly dissolving into his back. The blades on his wrists moulded around his wrists into gauntlets, his hair began to lighten into a light blonde look while his face changed entirely until he looked completely different.

"Oh you have to be kidding..."
Erez'Zul looked at his blonde hair in the shimmering pool in front of him, sighing heavily he tied it back with a piece of string into a ponytail.
He spoke a few more times, repeating the word 'testing' until his low, gruff voice sounded more calm, changing the way he sounded.
He took one last look in the mirror then waved his hand back again, collecting the water on his hand.
He walked next to Damsel, flicking the bits of water on his hand into her face.
He spoke to her in a soft, British accent.
"Hello...are you ok? hello?"
He looked up at Screecher, then back at Damsel again.

Screecher raised his hand, a blue circle appearing before it, travelling back across his arm, growing larger until it encompassed him entirely.
As the blue glow faded, Screecher now stood in a full black coat, his costume hidden underneath though his dark green boots could still be seen, his glowing green eyes were now behind a pair of dark sunglasses. The slightly green veins on his face and massive green hair could still be seen however.
Erez'Zul spoke once more, deciding that if she didnt wake up soon he may have to carry her.
"Hello? miss? are you alright?"

Far above in the Skies

The drop hatch opened to receive the two flying rescuers, Commander David Saints-Hunter and Colonel Peter Saints-Hunter aka The Crusader. The two high-ranking soldiers geared in urban camouflage flew up into the military helicarrier, carrying the injured and slightly burnt forms of Altair Stevens and the Maiden. As the women rested and healed, the grotesque half-regenerated and heavily disfigured form of The Sentinel was seen approaching through the clouds. In his arms were the charred skeletal remains of Detective Mike 'Hellskiller' Grayson. He'd been buried under the volcano and unlike the Sentinel, he was powerless to survive the superhot lava. The flying mass of charred bone and exposed muscle landed with a stagger and looked up to face his comrades.

"I'm sorry..." he stammered, his fleshless face an ugly picture of shattered emotions, tear glands bleeding fluidly. He fell to his knees and sobbed silently.

"I failed"

"I failed to save him."

Old Insidium Plant (E4)

As her consciousness returned to her, Damsel's vision cleared up and all she saw was green boots, dark glasses, green veins and green hair. Her fiery survival instincts kicked in and she lashed out with lightening speed, throwing out a sequence of expert martial art blows at both the strangers standing over her. You can learn a lot more about a person through fighting them. If these were good people, they would act defensively and forgive her shocking outburst, if not, she was ready to fight to her last breath. With a lightening-ball clutched within her fist, she aimed a direct punch at the green-haired one.

Kimiko had only just set to work lining up shots against the rabid undead storming the port before she got distracted by other goings on. The brief shadow in the sky that felt.. old.. somehow. The rumbling and exploding. The general feeling of panic. It suddenly didn't feel worth it if it was going to descend into madness quickly. Quickly she lifted the technological device on her wrist to near her mouth.

"It's all getting a little pulp movie here" She remarked calmly "Sign me up for scavenger team" She added with a small smile before turning and moving at a brisk pace, collecting 'shiny' items from downed mercenaries as she headed for the road above the beach and the firing postions there. Time to scavenge and scarper.

Hall of Fates, Corporation Base

"Team Four, your proposed dropoff is hot.. much too hot.." Aquis remarked calmly in response to the volcano's eruption as she focused in on the mystic force that intrigued her, watching the disk that showed the skies above the island and weaving spells to trace what may have caused the effect. She had once been vampiric in nature and had to weave a great many magics to change herself into the woman she was today and the feeling of the old magic intrigued her greatly.

"Join team three" She continued, still instrusting her teams despite her spell weaving "Kimiko, Kawaii Nekobot, is on the scene and working with us on the scavenging now. Three and Four join her, all other teams procede as planned. Attack Plan 2. Looks like we're moving in fast and hard. Move in, take what can be taken with ease whilst others are distracted before stepping back out."

The Corporation teams moved quickly and with ease to areas not currently directly in the volcano's path. Stepping out of arcane portals the teams moved with precision. Nobody had directly offered them enough money, or any money for that matter, to take sides in the fighting so they were going to profit by taking items that could be sold on.

((Corp teams at various points on the island, for short periods of time. They take things before stepping out. This ranges from old tech pieces, to items on downed mercs to samples from interesting plants. I would have been more specific with the wheres and whats but at the rate this thread is currently going I don't think I would have the time to handle this in depth.))

Emerald had been about to continue talking to the father and son pair she was accompanying when she was cut short by the rumbling. Releasing Leon's arm she stretched her wings, taking her feet an inch off of the ground to prevent stumbling. As the sounds grew and the warning came in the form of a woman rushing to join them she looked around their surroundings, the temptation to flee obvious in her eyes she paused for just a moment to see what the vampires were planning to do.

Erez'Zul was taken completely by surprise by the attack, falling down onto the floor he rolled backwards, kneeling down and looking between Damsel and Screecher.
Screecher was pushed back slightly by the attack, his armor gave him some protection, something he always wore as physically, he was the weakest of the Triplets.

Unfortunately when attacked by someone, anyone, Screecher only knew how to do one thing, fight back.
Erez'Zuls eyes widened in fear as he knew what was about to come, just managing to shout out 'NO!' before Screecher opened his mouth.
Unlike before where no sound could be heard as he proteced his master from a hail of gunfire, this time, an incredibly high pitched scream ran through the building, the walls around him cracking slightly as the sound tore through the already unstable structure.

The hooded figure looked up curiously at the exploding mountain. As the whole area began shaking, she pushed herself off the ledge of the roof and took into the air. Floating high above the street, she concentrated and expanded an invisible telekinetic sphere around herself. It wouldn’t outright deflect anything, rather radically slow down any hostile objects, and it would allow her to feel the area in about 2 meter radius around herself, enough to let her react to any sudden attackers and investigate out-of-view places. Once ready, she darted through one of the broken windows of the nearby building, quickly searching the floor she happened to be on for anything interesting before moving onto the next building, slowly making her way north to the edge of the abandoned city while avoiding the falling ashes.

In a run down office building somewhere in Cap au Diable

The small dingy office was dimly lit by a single desk lamp. The pool of light illuminating a large leather topped desk, which was currently strewn with various photographs, papers, newspaper cuttings and other odds and ends.

The frosted glass door was slightly ajar and had the words "Dirk Knightly: Private Detective" printed neatly across it, and the sign beside the door read, "Knightly Affairs Detective Agency".

Behind the desk a man wearing white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, brown slacks and brogues, reclined in a worn leather chair, a frown creasing his brow as he stared at the print-out of an email.

Dear Sir/Madam/Genderless being

My name is Tomb, I’m a very bad super villain, my base is located on La Isla de la Muerte Insólito. I am also the one who killed your <insert lost one here>

Alternatively, my lab of highly lootable custom weapons, expensive gear and super serums, is located on La Isla de la Muerte Insólito.

Tomb
Ps.
Would you like a bigger pen 15?

I glanced at the accompanying letter, it simply said, "Find her". Had a photograph of a cute little blonde girl standing in what looked like a hardware store and the words "The Store" scribbled beneath. The return address was a P.O. Box and there was a phone number. A cheque for a quite considerable amount of money had been paperclipped to the top.

I rubbed my eyes. It was late, but a case is a case. The broad who'd delivered the letter had been a rather good looking brunnette, although a little on the short side for my tastes. She'd claimed she was delivering it for a 'friend', but i had my doubts. I was being paid, so it didn't really matter I guess.

I wondered if anyone had actual proof that this kid, Tomb, was actually on this Island. Had anyone actually spotted her there? I should probably visit one or two of the shady travel agents in the area, ask if any boats or plane's went to this place. Maybe the kid had chartered one.

I vaguely remembered hearing about a kid who ran a place called The Store from one of my 'associates'. Maybe I should pay the place a visit. I rummaged around all the paperwork on my desk, finding nothing useful and knocking a few more papers off on to the already messed up floor. I really needed to think about getting a cleaner.

"First things first," I mused out loud, "Gotta find the number for The Store."

I picked up the old style 1930's phone, an old black Crosley Kettle model, to call for directory assistance, but the thing was dead. "Dammit. Forgot to pay the bill again."

A short while later I left my office and wandered out on to the grim streets of Cap au Diable to find a phone booth. It was raining cats and dogs so I pulled the collar of my leather trenchcoat higher and tilted my fedora a little lower to keep the rain out of my face.

I finally found a booth that hadn't been vandalised and still had it's battered copy of the White Pages hanging from a chain. I thumbed quickly through the pages looking for 'The Store'. It had a witty ad above the phone number. I reached in to my trouser pocket and pulled out a handful of small items. Rooting through the contents, amongst the fluff, I found a quarter. I dropped it in the slot and dialed the number....

Fire in the sky. Not a sight he had witnessed for a long time. The shadowy mass that was Nightwalker coiled to the top of a tree to get a better view, watching calmly for a while.
Interesting. Perhaps it was time to keep closer to the humans and the other unsavouries that were crawling all over the island. Whatever happened, he had to be nearby when they found Tomb. The girl had...potential. And he needed that.

Steadily the cloud became translucent, fading into little more than the ghost of a shadow, the most noticeable point being the two abyssal eyes that still stared from the vague shape of a head, unblinking. Silently but swiftly he moved, pressing slightly closer in towards the mountain and the clusters of essence he could sense ahead...

Old Insidium Plant (E4)

Damsel's fiery instincts had kicked in and she had lashed out in lightening speed, with a sequence of expert martial art blows that seemed to anger the green-haired one. His reaction was equally violent as he bellowed a deafening sonic burst. But it wasn't fast enough as Damsel's highly damaging lightening-ball punch tore through his attack and collided with his face, shattering his glasses and reverberating a powerful shockwave. The punch was thrown with such electrically-charged force that it sent the veined one crashing through the weakened concrete walls and out onto the distant grass.

"Enough" she commanded, holding a finger up at the blonde. "You seem like the most level-headed one of us all. Who are you and why do you want Tomb?"

Screecher flew through the wall, rolling a few times before falling unconcious on the floor.
Erez'Zul simply stared for a second before standing tall, clenching his fist.
"We try to help you and you attack us? why? WHY!?"
Black lightning began to circle around his hand, crackling up and down his arm.
He shot a bolt of lightning over Damsels shoulder, directly at the large demon that was gearing to attack her. The demon squealed in pain before falling down to the ground.

"My names Dominic Black, we've been attacked by soldiers and demons, traps lying around every corner and then you fall through the roof....and then you attack us...quite frankly i think i have more right to ask just what the hell you're doing here than anything else!"

"Call me Damsel" said Damsel. "I'm with the Nighthunters hero group. We're here to save Tomb from herself. She's under arrest and coming with us... alive!"

Her uniform spoke louder than words. She turned around and stared at the vanquished demon.

"Thanks" she said, her intuition warning her to stay on guard. She squinted and studied the man before her very carefully before speaking.

"Fine. I'll let you join us but I'm not lending you my trust that easily. What can you tell me about this place? Have you found anything during your search?"

Sector D5
Within the Mine

Emerald and the DeFeurards may not have been much affected by the eruption that sent deafening crashes through the mine, but Vyachslav certainly was. Designed for the vacuum of space, his ears, though internal, weren't much used to sound of this intensity. True, he had the capability to lessen their pick-up, but his experience underground was rather limited, so when he lost contact with one aspect of XANV and the other reported the eruption, he didn't think much of it.

Big mistake.

It hit him with a suddenness too great for even him to react immediately, crashing into his head like a battering ram and sending his sense of balance and coordination zipping out the window. The shaft shook again as the huge creature attempted to rear up in pain, the only result thereof being of course that he bashed his head into the ceiling.

While thankfully this didn't cause a full-scale collapse, the resulting debris (along with Vyachslav himself, holding his head and putting his brain cells back where they belonged) formed a slight obstacle to the progress of the vampire quartet directly behind him.

Of course, if Emerald and the DeFeurards decided not to stop and try to help, there wasn't anything stopping them from phasing through the block again. Well, there was something for that in respect to Vyachslav himself. Him they wouldn't be able to just walk through. The rock around him was perfectly fine with it, though...

The Lance rocked as the earth shook with the eruption's force. As molten rock and lava flowed down the mountain, and burning rocks fell around them, it once more turned its attention to Lucard.

Lucard swore as he looked at the mountain, and was only just able to avoid the hail of bullets that came at him from the Lance's guns. He didnt know what his machine was, but the large T painted on its left arm showed it to be TRINNITY. Great, thats all we need right now he thought as he sent two armour penetration shots at the machine. However, the bullets bounced off the mech's armoured front. The impervium unharmed and not even scratched by the bullets.

"Hostile actions detected, engagement situation now level two" was the mech's only verbal responce as it brought its arms up, swords held high, and beginning to spin. As the machine began to charge at Lucard, Lucard dodged it, going out of phase so as to avoid being minced and let the machine stumble into the rocks, shattering them and clearign the entranceway to the mines.

"Right, i can see fighting you isnt gonna do much without some back up....so perhaps a chase would be better". As soon as saying this, Lucard shot forward and flew through the machine. He felt coldness inside it, but saw what looked like a bone spinal column on the back of the machine. The thing was being piloted. He had barely time to take note before hurtling down the mine, the Lance following on its legs as fast as it could. It filled the mine and would be impossible to get around without phasing.

Lucard soon lost sight as he flew down the mine.
