Do you feel bad for pedestrians being mugged?
Anyway...no, I don't feel bad, because those people I save, just love to push me around, literally, I'll be standing there, chatting to some of my heroic friends and boom, ped shoved halfway down the street!
It is funny, sometimes I can barely get across town because I stop and clean up every petty crime on my way.
Other times I do not even look to see what inventive new way the citizens may be using to call for my aid.
The back story on one of my early villains specifically mentions that they watched a hero run by them in their moment of need as a CoT victim... that ultimately gave them their power, but made them grumpy and angry towards heroes for not saving them.
5) Have you ever noticed how many of the Hellions and Skulls girlfriends look like that mugging victim you "saved" just last week? And now they're with their former mugger... It's not a purse-snatching... it's a g***amned mating ritual!

That is all.
I still take thug-thumping detours on my way around Paragon City, particularly if it concerns an NPC group I especially despise, such as the Tsoo or the Vahzilok.
It's entirely possible I was conditioned like a Pavlovian subject during low levels when my heroes would receive frequent compliments, influence, and the occasional inspiration from grateful bystanders. Likewise, I'm hardly the only one who, once my characters out-level this kind of street crime, would still like a badge or possibly a variation on tip missions for saving NPC civilians.
I will stop all the muggings the day my level 50s can blow the muggers away with the mere proximity of their AWESOME.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

You mean our indestructible, emotionless, super citizens? Save them??? Who dies more often them or me? Hell, they should save me!
"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."
I feel so pathetic now that this has been brought to my attention. I do the same thing and i feel bad for them.
BUT NO MORE MR. NICE SUPER POWERED SUPPOSED TO HELP PEOPLE IN DISTRESS AND NOT COMPLAIN OR ASK FOR ANYTHING IN RETURN GUY!!
I mean dang I'll just be on my way flying through the air when on some random really tall building will have circle mages having some random girl in the air(How the hell they got up there in the first place is a mystery since the building doesn't have a door on top or anything). then here come my hero doing the save the damsel in distress thing and when im done wat does she do? Say "I'm scared thanks" then suddenly get the crackhead shivers and shiver not walk shivers off the top of some ten story building in to a door.If she can survive that then she can survive some random circle mages or some gang member.
Now that i think of it i think they should make some improvements on that in the next issues and let villains mug or hit a random civilian too.
Furthermore when i punch the civillian especially the skull girlfriends in the face i want it(yes, it) to ask me "wat was that for?"So i can answer"For being a dumb selfish Ho who gets in the way and has no respect for us hard workers who try to create peace or destruction in the g***anmed city!" then turn to my partner and say man can you beleive this civilian

Yes, actually. It lessens a bit in the high levels when I tend to be flying over everything. But in the low levels, if it's a reasonable mob I will stop the muggings, CoT rituals and the like.

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.
good luck D.B.B.
Every now and again, I will help. At equal levels it is fine to occasionally street hunt, but I found that street hunting is often needless XP when you are trying to see content/get merit badges. At higher levels, some mobs will be attacked if that toon particularly dislikes them, or the civvies say something that amuses me. I know when I am killing for badges, i go out of my way to take certain mobs on.
Since they stand around and do nothing when I scare the mobs, I pretty much think the civvies get what they deserve at times, or when I am saving cops from mobs. I mean, if you are so low in level you can't deal with those mobs, why in Dog's Name are you stationed in the jurisdiction? For that matter, what wisehat allows civvies into hazard zones to work any how, when a low level toon was once blocked from that zone? I should not be rescuing office workers in the middle of the RWZ.
As for the civvies in the Mayhem missions.... I still think the devs played dirty pool with that one. Though, they are targets for the life drain powers.

With the Minor Revamp of Atlas Park and Kings Row a few issues back, the Blueshirts pretty much vanished. The only Blueshirts I see are in Brickstown (still being menaced by Prisoners) and Lt. Wincott in the Hollows. The rest of those craven slugs are no longer around.
I even rolled an alien liaison to the PPD who was in charge of training Hardsuits to use their new equipment, but got so disgusted with PPD officers fleeing from low level gangbangers that he took to the streets himself. His bio does not make as much sense as it did when Blueshirts abounded.
"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"
"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

I love standing in front of a bunch of Protesters in Praetoria with my Archery guy, then shot them with my AoE attack and watch them crumble with arrows sticking out of their chest.
Usually one or 2 gets missed and tries to run away, I shoot them in the back as they run and watch them slowly fall over.

I always feel bad for people on the street being mugged. So even if Im level 50 flying through atlas, and I see someone yelling for help I'll swoop in and blow away the level 2 criminals to save them.
Even though its a fake computer generated victim. I feel bad for them so I save them. im sad. |

I'd save everyone if it made a dent in the crime rate. However, every time I round a corner, there's another person being mugged. If I stopped to save every person, especially in zones too low for my level, I'd never get any actual gameplay done. My "roleplaying" ends where irritation, frustration and timesinks begin.
I want to want to save them, believe me. But I can't want to save them when the mugging just respawns immediately thereafter.
