I'd wrote up a nice long post about why I still play the game. Previewed it as always and then hit submit.

Your not logged in.
It erased my post and I now don't have time to redo it.
So frustrating.
Cause now the New Posts button only shows 2 threads...

It took me three attempts to log in to the forums, once said welcome, but didn't actually log me in, once just sat and spun it's wheels and refused to load any page and finally then a successful log-in
and then it logged me out !
Ok, so it's not just me.

I thought it was something on my end because it kept happening on my Windows 7 rig at home, but not on the Windows XP one at work. Only it happened the same way at work yesterday, so I dare say it's something with the forums. This has been happening ever since they did that maintenance to remove reputation entirely, where I had a full day of not being able to log in at all.
Funny thing is, CS directed me to the forums, where no announcement of inability to log in was made, and where I was unable to log in to ask questions. Catch 22. It's been logging me off on and off since then. Like today, the first time I loaded up the boards, I was logged in, but when I tried to check my personal messages, I was told to log in O.o. At least it didn't faf about this time and let me in after just one log-in attempt.

Yeah, there are 1-2 existing threads on this. Happens to me continually*, regardless of browser. It's rather irritating.
*continually = sometimes once a day, sometimes several times a day, sometimes I'll go an entire day without it happening, but often enough to be an expected annoyance.

When it happens forward any relevant info about what you were doing/time etc to theOcho and he'll forward it to the forum techs.
I know this because I was ranting about it in a global yesterday and he said to do that.

Annoying as hell and been happening to me for a while.
i never really had a prob with the being logged out randomly till about a week ago, and now im in the same boat as everyone else being logged out randomly or when trying to submit a post, ect
It's happened to me just about once or twice a day, every day, since I renewed my account last month.

The two cookies from this site not set to expire on my browser close seem to only be good for 24 hours...is that related?

Somehow, I don't think it would be very useful to pm about every possible link causing an issue. Using Firefox 3.6.10 if that helps, but I've encountered the same behavior in IE as well.

In the meantime...
I highly recommend getting Lazarus: Form Recovery as a FireFox add-on. It remembers all the text you input on forums for a site. So, if this post doesn't get posted and I'm logged out, I can log back in, hit the quick reply button and bring up Lazarus to restore what I had typed.
Lazarus also brought back from the dead for me posts I made in Closed Beta (those forums are not closed and gone).
