So I just got back from Resident Evil Afterlife 3D

And I dug it... good visuals, decent action, wet Millia Jovavich, zombies.. all around a fun movie.

Only things I felt could have been improved on - big axe dude... seriously.. they could have done something better than.. "big axe dude comes to cut folks in half with no real in story impetus"

Also there is SOME post initial credit footage I don't know if there was any end of credit footage though.

You had me at...wet Millia Jovavich. oh my!

Seeing it Sunday. Looking forward to it, I've dug all the Resident Evil movies, total guilty pleasures.

I was generally happy with it up until it ENDED ON ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER!

BTW, that is pretty much how the Executioner is in the games so I didn't really have a problem with it.

My god daughter and her friend said they both laughed when the plane crashed and it left a trail of blood.

*sniff*

I am so proud of her...

Just came back from it. Lame plot and no one's gonna win any acting awards, but I don't care, it was still really good. Friggin' LOVED the fight scene with the Executioner thing, Claire and Alice both get a chance to be badass. Worth the price of admission on its own, that fight, very "boss beat during a QTE" moment. Like Ozzie, the total lack of explanation didn't bother me, I thought it kinda apt that nobody knew what the crap it was either.

I was not let down with a weak Wesker, he was suitably superhuman. Guess I'm not as tired of bullet-time as I figured.

I too laughed at the plane and the blood trail.

Also enjoyed the timely use of a piece of falling glass.

Was that explosion near the beginning not incredible? Especially the crater, nice touch.

In general, I place this second in the series in entertainment value, very closely behind the first. I don't even mind so much that it cost $3 more than it really should have. The end is a bit weak, and who was that supposed to be anyway? But I admit it, I'd watch part 5.

Stay through the initial part of the credits. There's a scene in there.

At the very end of the credits, there's Milla saying that line that she used in the beginning about not being very nice.

Did anyone else think "Gravity Hammer" when they saw the boss battle?

I enjoyed it. Will watch the sequel.

The opening "rest all your powers down to zero" felt SO much like a videogame sequel trope, though I guess in this case it's kinda appropriate given the subject matter.

I was amused the T virus apparently is actually shaped like like "T"s.

....Does this movie series have some sort of favorable B-movie vibe that I'm missing?

I never really liked the games... and haven't played them very much at all. I saw the first movie and thought it was decent. Saw the second movie on TV and wondered what horrible atrocity I committed to deserve such punishment (though I did like the actress who played Jill). DVR'd the third movie and was left wondering where the connection between 2's cliffhanger and 3 was... Come to think of it... I'm pretty sure I watched it all the way to the end and yet I can't remember *how* it ended. It must have bored me so much that I just blocked it out of my mind.

Now there's a fourth movie and I'm absolutely stunned that it even made it passed the concept stages. Granted, I haven't seen it... but I've seen the others and I can't imagine this one being any better or worse.

As far as I can tell, there's no real story holding the series together other than 'Virus breaks out/zombies rule the earth' and 'Alice is a clone supersoldier dealio'. This also makes me wonder if there's ever going to be any real resolution.... or if the series will just run out of money and stop producing films.

Basically as long as this franchise keeps making money they'll keep making them. It's not like Milla Javapojba;ldh is going to get tired of playing a metahuman anytime soon.

I've enjoyed all four movies, will watch the 5th for sure!

I have to say though, I've felt the series go from a horror/action, to a action with creepy looking bad guys (best way I can describe the changes). Still, enjoyed it

To anwer the question, the connection between 2 and 3, is really, that time has gone by, and Alice has kept herself from her friends because she can be tracked.

What I'll have to rewatch, is I don't recall ever hearing mention of Jill in #3. I'd assume she was killed at some point.

Jill is in 4. I'll just leave it at that.

It has gone from horror to action, which frankly I'm on board with. I didn't find any of them actually scary at all really, jump scares don't equal "fear" to me. Never have found zombies scary, for that matter. I'm all about the action in this series.

As to its appeal, that's a question only the individual can decide. Critically this movie's getting roasted, in fact all of them have been. Personally I give critics about as much credence as I'd give any random person giving me their opinion, in that sure they might make sense, have a different take, or just plain be interesting, but I'll make my own decision anyway. I like the movies, that's all that matters to me.

Personally I had felt that was done to make it more like the games. There was actually a lot of stuff that seems to have been thrown into this movie to try to please fans of the games, but rather then being happy about it most of them (Including Phelous and Angry Joe who I usually agree with) are complaining about how it didn't make sense. Personally this and the 2nd one were the only movies I liked.

Though I did find it some what annoying when Wesker makes a comment about Chris and Claire being thorns in his side. Because that is completely referencing the game universe even though this isn't the game universe and we know not everything that happened there happened here. That would be like the Marvel Ultimates universe referencing an incident from 616.

Unless the trailers wow me, I have no intention of seeing the next one. Because frankly, you know who just wouldn't work as the main villain.

Don't like that at all. You see her riding away with her friends at the end of 2... with that dude saying 'Active her' (or something like that) and you see her eyes change. It's in a city setting. Then at 3... we see everyone in an open desert setting? We already knew she was a living weapon, so what was the point of 2's ending other than to be a cliffhanger for 3?

I don't know... there's just wasn't an cohesion between them... and felt like a massive middle finger to the viewer. Or, at the very least, showed the writers aren't very good at connecting the dots.

Well, apparently You Know Who won't be the only main villain - trying not to give spoilers, but people have noted that there was something that looked like a parachute in the sky, unnoticed by the protagonists, after that last 'purge' explosion.

Where? Tell me where I missed Jill, so when I see it again, I can catch it

As for Claire and her brother, and Whesker saying thorns in his side, the difference between 2 & 3, it's stuff that just hasn't been explained.

Will it? No idea.

However, figure some time has gone by between 2 & 3, Alice had taken off from her friends, and the world went to hell quickly, seeing as how easy the virus spread, and Umbrella Corporation doesn't seem to interrested in actually stopping it, it's no wonder things went bad quickly.

Though that said, I think there would be some other groups doing okay, making their way through the zombies. The big bad zombies seem to be the exception, not the general rule.

She's the blond chick they show after a little bit of the credits roll.

Totally dug the first movie and didn't mind the change from horror/action to full on action for the 2nd (no matter how stupid it got), but the 3rd was an abomination against film. Is this new one any better than that, and is it worth shelling out a full ticket price for? (im not paying for 3-D, because thus far with that particular gimmick, there hasn't really been a movie worth the extra cost)

If you can find a theatre that doesn't how it in 3D, heh.

About 80% of the places near me all have the 3D version.

I hate it cos I wear glasses so I have to perch the 3D glasses on my glasses and it's awkward and I get a headache.

But the movie itself is I think worth at least a matinee showing price.
