Flambeaux, a Villainous Nitwit

Thank you, Paragon Studios, for letting me beat up Flambeaux in so many of these tip missions. She's a spoiled, selfish ditz and for some reason I get a strange sense of satisfaction ruining her plans for self-promotion. She can't even act like a proper villain. I imagine her crying in frustration every time my hero defeats her or my villain one-ups her.

...ya know I totally expect her to morph into some sort of super powered freak in one of these missions, it has yet to happen though.

I know. She makes Fusionette seem sensible and intelligent.

"But why won't they love meeeeeeeeeee?!" Oh shut up already... I do wish they'd released with more tip missions, though I have to admit I'm quite happy with the overall quality (minus Flambeaux-whining) seen in them. Just too few tip missions right now for *real* variety. Hopefully we'll get more coming as we go on, just to mix things up (without the Mad-libs "(villaingroup) has stolen (item) - retrieve it!" or "You knew (villain) in the zig, he was a putz then, put him down" of newspapers.)

Gotta say my favorite run so far are the missions with the Knives and Silent Blade...the dialog is fantastic, and I was honestly surprised when Arachnos dropped in to join the party in one of them.

I absolutely love that character, but she makes me cringe Every. Single. Time. Which is awesome.

I like the lame characters, because not everyone can be a winner, and she shows this.

It's always a pleasant surprise when she turns up as a special bonus at the end of a tip mission. Flame grilled ham for two.

Haven't done many tip missions, but I have to say my favorite hero tip mission so far was facing an automaton version of myself.

Huh. She's always been my ally in the missions. She's pretty helpful.

Sister Flame will be looking forward to taking on this "poser" as she describes her.

The Phantom Operative thinks Flambeaux only has herself to blame for feeling so unloved. He brought flowers and champagne and handcuffs and everything but she just wasn't interested.

Paris is a good analogy for her.

For some strange reason I actually think of Debbie Jellinsky from Addams Family Values.
She was always whining about "Why won't they love MEeeeee!?!" and such.

Excellent! Tell Sister to give her a good fire blast for me!

Flambeaux has sparked a different reaction from me.

Before i18 she was just a Mayhem mission hero who only showed up in levels 5-10 along with Polar Shift and No Mind, she had zero personality then. Which is why when Dr. Aeon gave the MA community his 2nd challenge, which included the rule for it to be set in the first 10 levels of the game, I decided to make a villainous arc where you get to do some mean things to Flambeaux and Polar Shift.

Now because of their blank slate nature I had to create some personalities for these two heroines. Ultimately the arc lost the contest and didn't get a Dev Choice, but imagine my surprise when I first played GR and got tip after tip with Flambeaux and saw how very much her personality resembles that which she had in my AE arc. Polar Shift isn't far off either in her tip appearances so far.

The arc is titled "Unfair Trade" and is still published if you want to see for yourselves.

I almost feel sorry for her as I'm pounding her face into the ground. She has "daddy" issues for sure. The poor girl is just sad.

I had two of her at one point, but yeah, i kind of felt bad for her, i was kind of glad that my rogue mission let me save her. im presuming rian really pulls his kicks when fighting her. I am really happy they re purposed the mayhem characters, they really were usable assets, and im glad to see so many of them get good character infusions.

Yeah, many of those "Rogue's Gallery" characters have much more personality now. Hollow Point is some sort of obsessive vigilante. Miss Thystle is some sort of conflicted rogue. Silent Blade has gone from villain to vigilante, I think. And Polar Shift has just become depressed and suicidal.

I think whoever was in charge of tip missions really likes Blast Furnace. Not to say I don't like him, it's fun doing solo vigilante missions with him burninating things up. But it seems like he's in a ton of tip missions, and he's been in every morality mission my DP/Dev blaster has run.

Overall though I'm happy that they brought in some previously overlooked toons and made them into characters. Hopefully they'll add more as they add more tip missions, I'd be partial to having more of the Civic Squad ingame. (This would be a good opportunity to have another Electric Control character, Electrixie!)

It's good to see old Mangle back again too, haven't bumped into him since he helped me in a mayhem mission. Then he tried to kill me, so I put his a** down.

My wallpaper is now a nice screenie of the moment my AS hit him.

Funny, I've felt the same away about Silent Blade, I've encountered her about half or more of all tip and morality missions I've run so far as both ally and enemy. And sometimes both in the same mission.

For me, personally, it's Overdrive being a constant thorn in side whenever I'm trying to burn down an orphanage or taint the water supply of a homeless shelter. She's that perfect little goody-two-shoes Hero that fails to see the big picture.

...what? How burning down orphanages fits into the big picture? You wouldn't even be able to begin to understand, so why should I bother explaining it?

Incidentally, it amuses me how Maelstrom and Desdemona feature on everything Going Rogue-related, even have huge biographies on the GR website, but in-game they are little more than just two members of the Rogues Gallery. Not just that, they're probably the least interesting Rogues Gallery characters, overshadowed by all the others.

Well Maelstrom does feature in several Praetorian arcs, so there's that. But hey, look at the four characters featured so heavily in the Korean release: two of them are trainers, and are in a few (two each?) missions, but the others have no counterpart in game that I'm aware of. Now, I suppose it's possible "City of Hero" was a very different game though, and featured them heavily somehow.
