I Hate "Information"

Eh, they're all dumb, to one extent or another. I think the tie-in is just cutesy enough to make me smirk but not enough to gag.

I call it money all the time in-game and no one misses a beat as to what I'm talking about.

Dec out.

I use it to buy stuff. It's money. I don't spend information, I spend currency. (And I have a hard time believing Serge is so hard up for gossip that he'll trade "information" for fabulousness.)

See, I could agree with you if you weren't okay with infamy and influence. If you agree that influence and infamy is a currency I can't see why you can't agree that information is currency.

I would argue that information is even more like currency than influence and infamy.

I know this is about information and all that, but I have a complaint and I'd rather not start a new thread for it.

People using Ninja Run. You look foolish. Please stop.

i would very much like to see some consolidation and varying considerations for the currency concepts, as well as salvage and merits. right now it feels like it's tacking extra tails on a donkey for mechanical efficiency rather than elucidating the inherent concepts into a new functional scheme.

/still considering the options.

Replicators and nearly limitless energy sources by harnessing antimatter.

If a replicator were invented tomorrow, we would still very much be using money, or something similar. Only instead of rare earth elements, the resource we'd all be clamoring for control of would be energy, given the immense power demands of such a device. We're already well on our way to such an economy (energy being the only truly limited resource).

I propose renaming all 3 to cred (or street credibility for a longer term).

But since they merged them I don't much care what it is called.

I have the information on why it was made this way and why it will not change...
But it'll cost ya!

And yes, Scooby Dont... With all of this ninja running, CoH stands for City Of Hunchbacks.
Soon to be released expansion, City Of Chiropractors will introduce debuffs for the spinal damage, but also plenty of buffing chiropractors... That's right! Where every visit has a happy ending.

Somebody stop me...

Didn't War Witch say they'll be unifying all currencies into a singular INF currency?
The character ID page now says 'Inf.'

But it says Information/Influence/Infamy in other places depending on your alignment or zone.

On my two accounts I watched a trade of inf: On the hero's screen it said Influence and on the Praetorian's screen it said Information.

Information is currency in real life. If you haven't learned that yet, you either aren't old enough or experienced enough yet to understand it.

Okay. Gather up as much information as you can carry and go buy yourself a cheese sandwich. Let me know how it tasted.

I think going to the barber shop should get you tons of information.

Just saying...

It's not really about how much information you have... but what information you have.

In all seriousness about the topic, INF is intentionally left a somewhat ambiguous game mechanic for you to fill in the greater details.
Influence, infamy and information can mean many different things for varied individuals, scenarios and situations.

Maybe you have a lot of influence because you have a lot of money.
Maybe you don't have a lot of influence because nobody respects you.
Maybe you have a lot of influence because you're a super swell and popular person.
Maybe your infamy sways others to help you out.
Maybe your infamous for all the money you have and people bend over backwards for you in hopes of a big handout.
Maybe you have a wealth of information, from experiences in certain circles, that some in Praetoria just would love to learn.
Maybe you have some hefty bits of information that some in Praetoria would just love for you to keep quiet about.
Maybe all that information has made you rich by investing, informing and/or blackmailing profitably.

Or maybe not!

I know my old neighbor lady doesn't have anyone to talk to. So I went over and asked her how her day was.

The sandwich was great, thanks for asking.

Was it a Resistance sandwich, with a delicious filling of freedom between two slices of justifiable violence, or was it a loyalist sandwich, with one tiny sliver of humantiy crushed between two huge slices of oppresion?

I prefer to resolve this problem a la the mirror universe conditions of the old Praetoria: you're trading in information, and when you use the Internet you're surfing the money superhighway.

I wouldn't be opposed to renaming it all some generic/obscure word for money, though. I've always been fond of "simoleons."

I learned that my neighbor had robbed a bank, and traded that information in for a reward. The cheese sandwich I bought afterwords was delicious.
