Shadowy Presence - Useful?

Has anyone played with it? An invisibility where you can't move and can't use powers without breaking it and with a long recharge time seems good for going AFK and that's it. And you can AFK but standing in a cleared room in a mission map or most places in an outdoor map not currently occupied by a mob.

Am I missing something obvious? I don't really care if it's "useless" but I'd hate to miss an obvious application.

I noticed after playing a bit that enemies in GR tend to wander around a lot more. I suppose it could be useful in that regard.

I agree. About the only thing I see myself using it for is rp.

This is why I use the Dead Ringer instead.


Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

It's rather pointless IMO--except for RP as pointed out above.

Three of the four stances struck me as rather meh as well. Villain stance 2 is nice and unique though.

The Alpha and Omega sets, particularly the auras, have proven quite useful to me though.

Most useless power ever. The hero stances literally look like a stick is being inserted up your butt too. I stopped breathing shortly after the emotes started animating. The villain ones are nice.

The Omega aura is pretty good, but I have no clue if I'll ever use the Alpha aura, I'd have to make a character specifically for it to see any use.

Overall I'm pretty unimpressed with this pack. Oh well.

I would say GR makes up for that, but I can't currently create any new characters on either of my home servers either so I can't really experience GR in the first place.

For me, that's a filming tool! As long as I can remember to take my hands off the keyboard, this means I can park right in the middle of stuff and just film without worry about getting my face shot off.

I agree with pretty much everything said here. Stancevillain2 by itself is almost enough to justify the pack's cost for me.

I'll just add that since they basically implemented stances as emotes and named the ones we got pretty generically that hopefully we'll get more of them in the future (i.e. stancehero3, stancevillain3, etc.).

Am I missing something, or are these emotes being repackaged as stances? What's the mechanical difference?

You're right. Will need to look at all those again in hover mode.

And to the question above, the stance emotes are just that: emotes of stances. Not stances in the way they were implemented in CO. At one point I had hopes that a whole new stance system was being introduced with i18 and that the stance emotes mentioned in the inventory of complete pack would be four additional options on top of several available with GR. But once beta hit and there was neither hide nor hair of any stance system, I realized we'd be getting four emotes, similar to /e crouch, /e akimbo, etc.

Still useful as I now keep G and H keys bound to flyposes and various stance emotes for all my characters. But unfortunately not currently as inspired as I'd hoped by these. But the flying application pictured above does send a few sparks through my brain. May still find use for 'em yet.

Yeah there were several ways to trick out pseudo-stances via pre-GR emotes.
While I like the "idleposes" we got with GR I was hoping we were going to get a real stance feature.

I suppose Champions Online will always have that one thing better than us. *sigh*

You can activate it, but Rest apparently interrupts it once it's on.


Issue 16 made me feel like this.

I was able to activate Rest then Shadowy Presence, and they worked together.

Shadowly Presence is very useful if you are fighting T-Rex.

Also, on a serious note, I can see using it if you are waiting for toggles/powers to recharge and use only SS to stealth maps.
