PPP Pets Worth It?

Now that heroes have access to the PPP pets, I'm wondering which ATs benefit most from them. I'm not familiar with Villain builds at all. Are the pets worth taking? Are there particular ones that are especially good?

Most vills don't take them, as the long recharge time combined with their mortality rate (about the same as a dom or controller pet) can make it hard to justify the power and slot investment.

That said they are up more than they are down if you slot for recharge, gives support chars something to throw their buffs on when they solo, and can be slotted for some good set bonuses.

Hands down the best pet is the mu pet for doms, as that both blasts and heals. Following that is any other pet that exclusively blasts since being at range significantly increases their life expectancy, so that's all the other mu pets plus the fortunata mistress that corrs get, and having a psi pet can be handy in certain situations.

I'm planning to grab the Spiderlings for my Ice/MM blaster mostly because you can slot an Achilles' Heel proc in them. Shouldn't take long to evaluate if they're worth it or not.

I tried to like them but they go kersplat so damn fast...and then that icon is sitting there with a loooong ways to go before it's recharged...

Yeah if you have buffs for the pets and the desire to babysit them, they can contribute a decent amount. For how squishy they are though, the recharge is just way too long.

I wanted to like them, I really did. Right now I'm burning my freespecs in preparation for Monday's fresh grant, and every one I do I drop the patron pet if I had it in the build. I would only use those powers as set mules now.

They might be useful on a tanker.

have taken them. Always deleted them. Recharge to long, Dont stay with you long. die to quickly, slots can be used better elsewhere.

They're best on classes that already have pets and can slot multiple pet uniques to help their survival. They're next best for Stalkers as they can improve your crit rate like a teammate. Obviously builds with the +recharge to keep them perma benefit from them more. If they do actually stay alive, they can contribute a good bit of single target or AoE damage.

I agree with Tangler as to the best pets and why.

I found my Corlax on my Corr, lasts longer than my Dark Servant on my Defender.

That said, I haven't found them terrible so far, but not really needed either. But I blame that on their lack of control. Unless I'm up against one target, they're just not attacking who I want them to.

They can be handy for tough battles on most ATs. I agree the general consensus is they are good for any AT with a buffing secondary. Empathy is a set that screams for a pet, if you are goin solo. Personally I am a bit torn, I know I will be taking MAKO on my storm trollers for the Water Spout+Tornado combo. The idea of my Ice/Storm having Jack Frost and The Coralax to go along with those is very tempting. The idea of many of my controllers having 2 pets is really tempting and that my (mind) trollers can now have one is good too.

Recharge time on pets is 15 minutes with a 4 minute up time. Slotting can bring that down to 7-8 mins recharge. Which is about a 50/50 ratio of having the pet out. Not including global rech which can make em perma on insane-O builds.

However, I feel that they aren't the make or break power. They are a nifty perk that can be fun/beneficial, but not OMG AWESOME power that many may want.

Dominator Patron Pets are particularly useful

Corruptors/Dominators r really the only ones that are godo to get..the brutes pet is crap considering what a brute does. stalker is..hit n miss depending on toon.

All the pets are close to permanent with 80% recharge and hasten, about what you need for perma dom.

Summon Guardian from the Mu set for Doms is wonderful; the heal goes off pretty often, and since the pet is ranged and flies it tends to live a very long time.

Summon Seer from the soul mastery set for Doms is good too; she gives you a buff that will increase perception and reduce confuse duration.

Arachnobot Disruptor from mace mastery for Corruptors is also nice in that it sometimes uses an AoE immobilize.

Haven't ever used the pets on Brutes or Stalkers since I figured they'd either die to AoE or reveal me.

Active (Freedom): Setna (Ice/Psi Dom), Arram (WP/KM Tank), Tesmiel (Elec/SS Tank), Astredax (Robot/Dark Mastermind), Operative Vidali (melee fortunata)

Retired (Virtue): Gaav (Inv/EM Tank), Baqra (Fire/SS Tank)

For me, the problem with PPP Pets is they are so blatantly Arachnos. They weren't exactly designed with concepts in mind and I couldn't think of anything worse then PPP powers for my characters.

APP's on the other hand are awesome.

I normally get them on AT's I plan on soloing with. I dont solo to much but when I do it is nice to have a helping hand when it is needed.

While they live they are a significant source of extra damage.

I'm surprised Frosticus hasn't chimed in on this. All three of his insanely high (400 damage per second plus) damage builds use pets to achieve their full potential.

I love the MU Pet on my main Dom, having a source of heals and damage when I solo is great.
Being perma-dom means enough recharge to keep it up more often than not too.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):
