For some reason the store is down and when that happens any slots over the base do not show. I am SOOO pissed, have had a concept character bouncing around in my head for over a day and have not been able to make it!

Yeah I had an open slot yesterday and today it's gone. I also was very up-beat about coming home and being able to role my new shiny toon concept but of course that gets shut down horribly...BUT then I decided to delete an older toon I no longer have any -real- interest in, so I email all my inf off it and hit the delete button...and what do ya' know! THE SLOT IS BLOCKED. Like honestly? FIX THIS.
People shouldn't have to deal with problems like this because a bad design flaw in your store. Not only did people lose money with the whole boosters incident, but now people can't enjoy the game they've been paying for? Especially at this point in time where mostly everyone is a veteran. I say get marketing on the phone because they seem to run the show and tell them they are losing money because of the store, make some random chart with numbers that looks pretty and BAM! you just got yourself a fixed store and a bunch of people to shut up.
Yep its tied to the store. I posted about this long ago, and had the same reaction. Once store is back so will be your slots.
So... what's the question that the players of the game are supposed to answer?

They really do need to move the extra slots mechanics clientside.
Wouldn't hurt if the "The store is offline" message upon log-in mentioned that it would affect character slots you'd paid for.

More seriously, though: I assume you mean Serverside. In that case, they already are. The store server, market server,AE server, the three server farms that hold the game "servers" are all part of "serverside".
Would you rather everything ran on one server, so that if they need to take th store down, then they had to take everything down? I think that one day of nobody getting to play the game at all would result in far more irate customers than one day of a few people being unable to roll a new character.

I'm sure they can make it an unlock somehow. After all, we don't lose access to booster packs when the stores are down.
Boosters are totally different. They are applied via a serial code, like boxed sets are. Slots are assigned to individual servers, not the account as a whole.

Weirdly, the one slot I have open (my 33nd) on Victory is still there, even though the store's still down. Wonder why mine is OK.

As for the response to my first post... yes, I gathered that it was meant to be a "Has this happened to anyone else?" but my point was, no question was actually asked, and the tone one would get from the rant(anger, obviously) only led to other rants, and was not productive at all.

What's being proposed is not "we should make it so the mailman can't visit your house unless you are answering the phone", but "we should make it so that the mailman can visit your house whether or not you even have phone service". The store should only be involved in transactions -- once they're made, the changes should be made to the account data on the game servers, and the game servers should never have to talk to the store servers about it again.
