It seems that Amazon.ca does not sell mp3 downloads. Sucks to be Canadian, at least if you refuse to use the Canadian iTunes store.

O_O!!!
Much improvement from current sounds/music.

Edit:Just noticed the song "Run resistance,Run". Think that plays when someone in the resistance gets too close to emperor Coles tower/preatorian clockwork?

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

Let's take bets on how long it takes for there to be an official press release/Announcements post about this, if any.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

"Building a Better Tommorow" sounds like it has a deceitful tone to it. I could just imagine it playing when Tyrant addresses the crowds atop his tower saying he's building a machine that will replicate vital medical supplies, when in reality he's creating some giant death exterminator robot thing to send through to Primal Earth.

I'm always in favor of more western developers releasing soundtracks to their
games, and would love nothing more than to buy this.

But are these full-length BGMs, or about the same as the other tunes they've
been working with in-game to date? Because the latter would be...way too
skimpy for me to justify shelling out cash for.

If they're actually full-length songs though, they've finally put out an extra
worth my buying.

It's pretty dang epic. Slightly repetitive, as every piece of music is a variation of "Sci-Fi Doom! The big evil will kill YOU!!!!" in how it feels. That being said, it was clearly made in the same vein as a movie soundtrack, both in scope and effort. It's worth a buy.

If you go on iTunes, you can preview all the songs for 30 seconds each to see what I mean.

Recommended.

This is what just continues to baffle the heck out of me. They had to know about this product well in advance so why no announcement?

I keep playing this card, but... "I used to work for a certain video game company back in the day..."

If they're anything now like they were then, you'd be amazed what a disconnect their can be. Earth sweeping decisions can be made without other departments even being informed. There's a lot to keep track of. Think about the unique situation MMOs are in: They're product is being distributed 24/7 with virtually no exceptions. This puts the pressure on each department to be reaching for the stars every moment that they're in the office. It is extremely easy to not be on the same page.

To get the announcement out "on time", they'd need the following:
  • Marketing (To state when the best time to announce it would be)
  • PR (To make sure they're on the same page as the other companies)
  • Community (To know when to post it on the local pages)

And all of them would have to be acting in tandem in order to make this work. Now, I'm not saying that I'm absolving Paragon's marketing efforts of all sins, but saying "Why isn't X marketed the way I'd like?" is a slightly more abstract version of saying "Why doesn't Positron hit the 'Fix it' button on the latest bug?".

Heck, I'd bet very real money some of the Red Names on these forums didn't even know this was happening. Not an insult; an observation of the fact that this CD has very little to do with the actual game, so they may not have received emails on it.

Anyway... bleh. I listened to the soundtrack twice today. Now onto my P!nk/Lady Gaga mix with which I'm currently experimenting. The results is a pervading lavender euphoria. <3

I understand what you are saying but here's my main issue with it.

Someone came up with the idea of the CD.
It was approved.
It was made.
It was setup with Amazon and whomever else.

At some point between it was approved and it got to Amazon there are all the details to be hammered out. One of those details should have been make it known. At the very least you post it on your forums and lately they have done a lot with Twitter and Facebook so you announce it there.

Unless it showing up on Amazon was premature, a mistake of some kind and the announcements were planned but they were scooped.

It just boggles my mind is all.

Finally saw an announcement about it through Facebook this evening. A new record I reckon, only about 24 hours.

Bought, downloaded and listened to on the way to work this morning. It's pretty epic stuff, full length pieces of orchestral music that are really evocative. If this is the standard of music we're going to hear in Praetoria, it's going to really put the rest of our background tunes to shame. I can only hope that they get to work on updating them soon.

Agreed, it does get a little samey after a while and the middle of the album is a bit flabby but it's a good score. I've listened to scores for multi-million dollar hollywood movies that weren't up to this kind of standard.

It's a good thing we told them about it!

I notice one of the tracks is called "Ghost in the Machine". The other titles are pretty self-explanatory, given what we know so far about GR, but this one has me wondering what the title is implying . (I'm aware of the expression, just guess this means something more.)

I'm a little confused; I haven't used iTunes before (Amazon won't let me buy from outside the US), and there's a price discrepancy between what I see on the iTunes page and what I see in the iTunes store. For some reason, the tracks change from 99 cents to 1.69, pushing the cost of the album from 9.99 to 16.99. I checked to make sure, and based on currency conversion, I should only be paying about 11 dollars Australian. So where's this change to the cost per track?

It's the usual "You're outside the US so prepare to pay" that most large media companies use.

Obviously it's due to the shipping / transport costs of pushing all those 1s and 0s through the extra-long tube to your country.

Oh well. I coughed up anyways...well worth the money!

Listening to it now, and I'm thinking this is the soundtrack to some new movie. Awesome stuff.

Should add that if you listen closely, there are snippets and passages that are very much City of Villains and Heroes.

Tracks 2,3,&9 all have that same, underlying ... I dunno what to call it, but these 3 tracks have that somewhat irriatating drumbeat/repetitive sound of some sort in common.

Yes, track 1 is great. Nice intro track. I enjoyed "Very Dark Places" (track 8) as well. The final track, The Hamidon Wars (track 13) is kinda lame...but I did hear a somewhat underlying "natural" tone to it that implies Devouring Earth. Still doesn't make the last track any less lame. C'mon, it's called 'The Hamidon Wars' - you'd think they make something comparable to ... dare I say, The Imperial March from Star Wars... >_>

Just bought it myself. Good stuff, quite moody. I'll run this music while playing Maria jenkin's arc and pretend I'm in the beta test.
