Ways to fake a Light power set
Hi all, I'm making a Kylie Minogue-inspired character with light manipulation powers, but picking the right power sets is kind of difficult. FF/energy is what I have right now, and I like it enough, but I'm open to suggestions.

If you want a defender, then I'd personally try a /Rad recolored bright blue or yellow...
Wouldn't Sonic/Energy be the perfect combo for that char idea? o.O
Rad blast and recolloring it would work for the most part. Some of the attacks may look odd though.

My own Light and darkness controller is a Dark/Rad defender. Rad Blast works very well for light powers.
Energy Blast's blasts looks WAY more disco-y than Rad Blast though. And I agree Sonic Resonance has a more dancey feel than Force Fields does.
Rad Blast has some good animations though - Irradiate could be a dance move. Neutron Bomb looks like you're throwing a beach ball, so its quite Aussie-girly in that way.
In terms of game mechanics I like Sonic/Energy more, since it gives you a way to defend yourself (via knockback) as well as your team.
Illusion Control. It even has a 'Flash' power that blinds enemies with a flash of light.
Not sure about a secondary.
Rad blast like people have said works well for Light Blast, as does Energy Blast or Energy Manipulation.
I think Fire Blast looks quite light like when coloured whitey/yellow (I've got a Fire/Energy Blaster with those colours and I think it looks great).
Invulnerable/Energy Melee Tank coloured white would work well as well.
Fire Control (coloured white like I suggested for Fire Blast) with eithe Forcefield, Sonic (as people have suggested) or Empathy coloured white could work. Kinetics could work as well.
Gravity, at a push, could pass for light manipulation (but its not the best option).
Illusion control could be played as a hard light type character like whats been suggested.
Depending on whether you wanted to stay blueside or not you could always go for a Energy Melee/Energy Aura Brute or Stalker (you could always go Rogue with them bringing them blueside eventually).
You could also do a a /Energy Manipulation dominator.
Yeah, like people have said, rad blast. My sunlight blaster is white/yellow rad, and it works out pretty well.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
Rad Blast (either primary or secondary)
if Blaster:
Mental Manipulation (no, really, look at the light show when you use the powers)
if Defender/Corruptor:
Kinetics (more recharge = more lights, plus you leave a light trail when you move!)
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Illusion will get you backup singers...
...and an outstanding stage manager...
...and a couple of roadies.

(I was just going to make a post about this, except substitute dancers/for singers)
Heck, a Thugs MM with the right secondary would be Kylie with street rat backup dancers pet /dance em
Wassabi Grav/Kin 50 (before badges/accolades were in game) Pinnacle
Miss Command Bots/Traps 50 Justice
*others left off due to space issues
Kin melee painted white
When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...
BEHOLD THE POWER OF CHEESE!
Illusion/Rad (colored white)
Rad/Rad (colored white)
Energy Melee (colored white)/Invulnerability
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
I would argue against white, not only is it harsh on the eyes (self and others,) but other than spot lights, I rarely see concert light being just white. Blues, reds, yellows, etc. but rarely white.
Perhaps the palest shade of the colour, just to lend a hint, but I wouldn't recommend straight-up white. Though it would be my character, so knock yourself out.
I have a light-based character. In this case he is a Fire/Kin with Fire Cages tinted gray (they appear as pure white, but partially translucent) and the big flashy powers colored pure white for big flashes of energy. I also combine Super Speed with the "Quick" Prestige Power Run, which produce a streaking glow behind me as the character moves.
Here are some pics and the run effect on the character, code name "Swede of Light."
Light and Sound - Illusion/Sonic.
Or Human form PB.
And of course just Energy whether it's Blaster, Defender, Tank, Scrapper, etc.
I've messed with all of them for light based powers.

I went with a rad/energy defender in the end, colored every power differently to make it look like a light show. Thanks for your suggestions I must say, the Thugs idea was pretty damn tempting.
I have a Rad/Psi blaster in which I've costumed colored the powers "white". I justify some of the mez effect in psi as "disorientation" due to the bright flashes of light. It looks PURTY......
If I can I'll try to take screen shots of how the powers look.
My level 50 Dominators:
Madame Mindbender 50 Mind/Energy
Fly Agaric 50 Plant/Thorn
Nate Nitro 50 Fire/Psi
I go with a creatively colored Radiation Emission/Radiation Blast Defender. White and yellow tones, to make a vaguely Glowy Holy Goodness effect.
Ice/Ice Blaster. Dedication to concept is an ugly thing.
Claws/WP Brute. Sex without the angst.
Every CoX character lies somewhere on this spectrum.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.
