Are you ready for the "pop culture" explosion known as <a href="http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_reg.php">San Diego Comic-Con</a>? Well, we are! From July 21st to July 25th City of Heroes® will be back at the San Diego Comic-Con, and we look forward to seeing you there.

We have some great things going on during the convention and it's time to tell you all about them!

Booth Activities!

We're at booth #5345 this year, so come by to get a hands-on sneak peek at City of Heroes Going Rogue and meet the members of the Development and Community Relations Teams.

Giveaways

Everyone who visits the booth this year will receive a cool lenticular Heroes/Villain button (while supplies last), but if you're a currently subscribed player you can also get the brand new "Ghoul" Costume Code that we're producing especially for Comic-Con San Diego this year. Check it out:

Again, you must have an active account in order to score this bad boy. One per account only!

Character Sketches

Our incredibly talented Art Lead (and well known comic book artist), David Nakayama will be back this year to offer character sketches to those who are lucky enough to get randomly picked! David will be drawing Thursday through Sunday during Comic-Con week (exact times still to be announced), but you can come by the CoH section of the NCsoft booth anytime and drop off a quality color screenshot of your hero or villain. We'll have you fill out a little bit of information to accompany your print-out and then we'll put it in a ballot box with all the others submitted at the show. If David reaches in and picks out yours, you can either watch him sketch your character or stop back at the end of the day and pick up your beautiful drawing!
Here are 2 examples of in-game characters sketched by David Nakayama at previous conventions:

Pictures with Desdemona!

This Comic-Con we're celebrating the impending release of City of Heroes Going Rogue, so it only makes sense to have our very own Desdemona on hand Thursday through Sunday to greet and take pictures with you! Come by the booth to meet her in person.

Booth Raffle

Come to our booth, get your badge scanned and get the chance to win amazing prizes, courtesy of our partners, Razer and AMD! The Official Booth Raffle Rules and Conditions are now available here.

Going Rogue Panel!

When: Thursday, July 22nd, 12:30-1:30pm
Where: Room 24 ABC

Find out how the world's most popular super-powered MMO is redefining the on-line gaming experience with City of Heroes® Going Rogue. New content and features will allow players to enter a new world with true moral challenges. Fans have been reading stories about heroes dangling on the edge of evil, or villains seeking redemption. Now they can live those adventures.

Jesse "Ghost Falcon" Caceres, (Development Producer), Melissa "War Witch" Bianco (Design Lead), Matt "Positron" Miller (Lead Systems Designer) and David Nakayama (Art Lead), will establish for you the innovations that will allow your hero or villain to experience the ultimate adventure.

Be sure to attend to find out the latest, juiciest information on Going Rogue and to ask the Dev Team your questions!

Player Meet and Greet/Going Rogue Preview Event!

Meet and Greet

We're combining our second player Meet and Greet of the year with a Going Rogue Preview Event and celebrating in style at the Hard Rock Café in downtown San Diego! Here's your chance to get in on the action even if you aren't able to attend the convention itself!

Preview Going Rogue, hang out with the Developers and the Community Teams, enjoy some refreshments and party down! Here are the details:

Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego
207 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101
Friday, July 23rd
7:30pm - 11pm, Edge Room

Please Note: You must be 21 years of age or older to attend!

Space is limited and once we hit capacity at 300 individuals, no one will be granted entrance into the Hard Rock! We strongly suggest that you RSVP and arrive towards the very beginning of the event in order to guarantee that you get in.
Please RSVP by 11:59pm Pacific Time on Thursday, July 22nd. RSVPs submitted after that time will not be accepted.

RSVP by sending an email to rsvp@paragonstudios.com with the subject header "Comic-Con Meet and Greet RSVP." You must include in your email the real world names (first and last) of each person in your party who will be attending. Those on the RSVP list will get priority access into the event over those who show up without having done so! PLEASE check with the people you are RSVPing for before you do so to make sure they are not RSVPing for themselves! Duplicates and triplicates of the same names make us grumpy!

Twitter and Facebook Fun

We're going to be running some activities during the event that could win you a memento! But you'll only know about them if you become a "Fan" of ours on Facebook or if you "Follow" us on Twitter and then link your smart phone to receive notifications from our pages during the event! Don't miss out...do it now!

Meet and Greet Raffles

There won't be one but two raffles at the Meet and Greet! Upon registering at the entrance you will be handed a raffle ticket and you will want to keep hold of it until we draw the winners towards the end of the evening to win great prizes! Head over to our forums for the Meet and Greet Raffle Official Rules and Conditions.

We'd also like to encourage those of you planning on wearing a costume during the convention to wear it to our event! Everyone who comes to the party in their Comic-Con Costume will receive a special raffle ticket that will go into a ballot box.Three lucky individuals will then be randomly picked to have a custom made drawing of themselves in their costumes sketched by our Art Lead and Comic Book Artist, David Nakayama!

It's going to be a fun, activity-filled Comic-Con for City of Heroes® and we look forward to sharing it with you. So whether it's coming by the booth (#5345), attending our panel session on Thursday afternoon or helping us celebrate the upcoming release of Going Rogue at the Friday night Meet and Greet, we really look forward to seeing you!

Very cool on almost every front and I am definately looking forward to hearing about the new stuff.

But the 21 and over event is a little uncool. I seem to remember a lot of recent requests and back-up from other players asking that this kind of event be avoided. Just a little disappointing there.

Still, all in all sounds awesome, wish I could make it there.

Quick question - as I'm half a world away, and getting to this event is a little bit of a struggle, will the costume code be released as part of a booster (or achievable in some other way) later?

Man it would be cool to be able to be there, this sounds awesome.

I'm sure those able to be there will have a blast.

Hah, that ghoul is totally an ex-super. Amirite?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Going Rogue Panel!

Please join us for our panel session this year! Here are the specifics:

Title: City of Heroes Going Rogue - Reinventing a Superheroic MMO (the title may sound familiar to you, but the content will be all new!)
When: Thursday, July 22nd, 12:30-1:30pm
Where: Room 24 ABC
Who:

• Melissa Bianco, Design Lead
• Matt Miller, Lead Systems Designer
• David Nakayama, Art Lead
• Jesse Caceres, Development Producer

Be sure to attend to find out the latest, juiciest information on Going Rogue and to ask the Dev Team your questions!
Ummm...impending release??? The panel is July 22nd. Does this mean GR is being pushed back and is for sure now in the nebulous "summer" category? According to this story,

http://news.bigdownload.com/tag/city...es-going-rogue

from an interview with War Witch at E3, it is still a July release. I know that leaves a week in July to make it a "July" release but this doesn't look promising.

Maybe its just been a long day and my rose colored glasses are all fogged up....

The Revenants and Vengeance Imperium-Triumph, Champion & now flavoring Justice!

Tanker Tuesdays & Brutal Thursdays. If you like fun, look'em up!

Shhh! Rangle is plotting.

This is a confirmation. Until this point, one could infer that since GR wasn't even out of F&F beta at the begining of June, a mid July release was unlikely. A regular issue gets around a month of player beta testing, I'd hope an expansion would get at least two.

Even July was a push back from an erlier date. They all but said at HeroCon that they expected player beta to be underway by Q1 this year with a release around Q2.
They never say so on paper, plausible deniability and all, but anyone I know who talked to the devs left with that impression.

Honestly, I'm thinking mid August at this point. There's a wave of player testing going on right now, and I don't *think* there was another bout of invites sent out. With that kind of pace, while a release date the last week of July is possible, they're bound to hit a snag of some sort and delay things until August.

YAY!!!Im gonna go to the hard rock meet and greet oh ya!

Not sure if I'll be able to attend Friday night (due to a birthday party during ComicCon), but my wife and I RSVP all the same!

And I'm glad the panel is at a more casual time slot this year, and less likely to conflict with my schedule

Sent in my RSVP. The Meet and Greet sounds like a blast, thanks for having it! This time I will get there before it is 75% over unlike I did in Boston.

Good to see the panel is on Thursday since I was only able to get one day passes for Thursday and Sunday.

Regarding the drawings David is going to be doing, are the non-winning screenshots going to be thrown out at the end of each day, or will they carry over to the next day? Also, what happens to unclaimed sketches at the end of the day? As mentioned above, barring a miracle, I will only be in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday and Sunday. If the "entries" are tossed out at the end of the day, it doesn't matter, but if they carry over, it would be possible to enter on Thursday and my screenshot not be picked until Friday or Saturday. In that case, would the sketch be saved until I can pick it up on Sunday? I assume so, but it's worth asking.

Also, yay for the Ghoul costume code card! I was hoping for a BP Shaman, but this is even better!

Probably too late unless something is already in the works, but any chance there could be a limited edition CoH HRC pin made in conjunction with this? Desdemona jamming on guitar for example?

What about Dallas Comic Con or Austin Comic Con?

WRT the Ghoul costume code: It will likely be added to the stable of codes given away in the Forum games, but probably not right away.

Right, and if they follow suit, they may also make them available to attendees of future M&Gs.

Unfortunately, based on the Announcement yesterday those two got tossed when they decided to go to NYCC.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

I got green boxes too, and I am the nicest guy in the world. My mom said so.

More importantly, all those posts seem to have been removed, so let's get back to the topic at hand.

San Diego Comic-Con! Woo! Only 28 days left! (Twenty seven if you got into Preview night)

SDCC just put up the Thursday schedule: http://tinyurl.com/2a5rnpw

Thankfully there doesn't seem to be anything in that room later in the day that will lead to issues with room campers.

Posted

Edited because I probably misinterpretted your statement about that room later in the day.

SDCC doesn't clear the room between panels. Sometimes people will attend an earlier panel so they can stay in the room for later panels.

I know last year on Thursday, Hall H (which holds 6500) was over run with room campers for the first two panels because the third panel was for that awful Twilight movie. I talked to someone who was in there during those panels who said that he saw Twilight fans sleeping during the panels or talking amongst themselves, completely ignoring the panels that were going on. This meant that hundreds (yes hundreds) of people that wanted to see those first two panels couldn't get in.

Thankfully there doesn't seem to be any Twilight in Hall H this year.

Yeah I heard about that Twilight fiasco. My mistake was that on first reading I thought you were saying there is nothing in that room the rest of the day, not that there isn't anything that would cause camping.

See you there!

Wish I was able to go to Comic-Con. Not to meet the Devs but to just pick up a few of those free costum codes, that way I too can sell them on ebay for $250+ each.

Sad that we fight RMT in game then the lucky fans of the game go and be greedy like that...
