Still not seing the line connecting "mutant" and the costume sets we are getting. Maybe its just me though. I must have read different comics as a youngster than others.

Coming from someone called Street Wolf, I can see the burgeoning potential for irony is great in this one... I suppose the Scrapper in your signature bears no resemblance to its name.

If by "we weren't even given a new tail initially" you mean "the preview of the Mutant pack on Test to look for bugs to fix had a bug that made the tails not show up, which was quickly fixed", then yes.

While i'm not sure what to make of the new mutant pack as i'm in agreement with; "it's not so much mutant as strange."

I do appreciate the Devs NOT turning the mutant pack into a furry booster set.

The only time it looks like a "demon" set is when people use it on their demon characters to me. I personally can't wait to get ahold of some of these pieces and use them in as many creative ways as bAss has done already.

Also lots of people seem to be stuck in a one dimensional mind set on what mutations can be. Please, put down the X-men comics. (Well don't, cause I love them too and I won't do it either.) David did a really good job explaining the thought process behind the set I thought.

Organic Armor represents change-from-without. With these parts, you can acheive a carapace/exoskeleton look, as if your character is growing a new skin or shell or perhaps being taken over by a symbiotic entity. And for added visual punch, you get the tintable glows here too.

As a set, the Mutant pack gives you the abilty to make new heroes or villains to fit a fairly wide range of aestheic types: alien-corrupted, hell-spawn, genetic freak--all of that's doable with this set. And with 2 tails, wings, and sword, there's a cherry on top.
Ok sorry, done with my little release of frusteration.

Yeah, but you pretty much proved yourself a bigot in the past, so we kind of assumed you felt that way.

And, yeah. I can be an *** from time to time, too.

You do realise that the first thing bAss did with them was make a Succubus, right?

yes, you will notice that most of the furor was from before the david post explaining this, after that i think a lot of us calmed down. however as far as booster packs go, this was the first time in the testings that we had a less than complete view given at first(the science pack having one piece color-able doesn't count since that was added after the teston public request and jay's innate coolness), so you can see why using precedent, it was assumed that no new tails were present, and given that the text mentioned tails, there was concern that the marketing had not coordinated with the developers and had made an unfortunate mismatch. once that was resolved, you can see that people calmed down to their standard rabble rabble.

Aye, like i said, when you make a demon with em, they look like demon parts. BUT they also were used effectively in other ways as well on characters who didn't look like demons. Very versatile this mutation set.

yeah, but he also made other things, particularly the well done fish girl. lets be frank, the outfit is strongly resembling witchblade's japanese costume. the whole symbiote thing is kind of swishy with the mutant origin in this game, but mutant is such a degraded term in comics that at this point i am willing to let it pass(bunch of broccoli tasting freaks). people have made good costumes with it (billz seemed happy) so i will give it the standard pass as a interesting idea as david explained it with the whole "change from within, change from without deal", i could finagle a few costumes out of it, my mermaid, who is natural, is going to get mileage out of it so I am mollified.

rejoicing in the disappointment of others shows a distinct lack of class.

There will be a pack that the furries will be able to use eventually - an animal/monster pack is something David Nakayama said they can look at after GR goes live - plus, he also said that there's a proper dog tail coming soon too.

It was scrapped - it'll be replaced with an Ceiling Cat travel power in the next booster pack, which will let you move between mission map floors without needing to use an elevator.

Umm... restraining flames

Okay, we have two major mutants in comic books and media, X-men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In the first we have mostly normal looking super heroes, except for ones who are slightly off with weird claws or skin like Wolverine and Colossus. Then you have monstrous humanoids like Beast.

Beast shares in common with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the animal-like hybrid humanoids.

Do you know of a more iconic Mutant look that can not already be created with the current system? If yes, please share, if not then well...

The two new sets are nice (thanks, Sexy J!), the emotes are cool, but I was hoping for Fish Heads, Frog Heads, Shark Heads, Alligator Heads, Jackal Heads, etc.

Are they in there and I'm just not seeing them?
I agree. Yes the sets are very cool and nice, but it was by no means what I was expecting.

I have already stated a Spliced Booster Pack Idea thread here.

Feel free to join in.

For whatever it is worth... I don't read Street Wolf's comment as basking in other people's unhappiness...
Rather, he is just saying that he is happy with what the pack is.
Not that he is happy that others are unhappy.I have seen people make that sort of comment recently, but I don't think this is an example of that.

By all means, feel free to not like what he said or whatever and I could be wrong and he did mean that he's happy you are unhappy. Looking at the quote though, "I, for one, am incredibly happy the devs didn't turn the Mutant booster into an Animal booster, and instead chose to go with the sort of weird, well, mutated look that I love."
The "instead" is what Street Wolf is proclaiming happiness about.

Anyway, I don't know Street Wolf and I have no connections to any of this other than being a fellow forumite who doesn't want to see other fellow forumites taking what another forumite said a bit out of context.

If you need to vent some of that angst... aim it at someone else... like Tokyo or something... (hehe, j/k)

I did my best to restrain from flaming, as I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I just don't see how this pack is all that mutant like really. So I really was interested where he got the idea that this was anything like a mutant super hero.

Streat Wolf, sorry if I didn't restrain my self enough. Please inform me with your source.

Yeah, I was just joking around

Really, though, it's not the lack of fish heads or cat's paws that bug me the most. It's the lack of Monster Feet in what may as well have been called a Monster Booster pack. I'd have thought that would be obvious.

Why can't the game we all love flex some originality and forge its own image of mutants? Ever since day 1 in CoX "copycat" characters have been looked down upon.
