Entering the hollows

I've got a contact that I need to reach in the hollows. I should mention that I'm doing the 14 day trial. I'm level 5, and I think that is high enough. When I reach the gate, I'm unable to walk through, and I've tried clicking on everything around there that I see. No luck so far though.

Any helpful tips?

Try clicking on the guards themselves. You have to aim low, basically at their feet.

For me, the Hazard Zones' click areas has always been right at the guards' crotches. This must be some sort of Dev in-joke that I haven't been able to figure out.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Don't know if it's a dev in-joke... but it's recently become more amusing than ever... before copping a feel was so that they could "check your clearance", now, they're just lonely.

Odd, I have never had a problem clicking them most anywhere... even from behind the fence and on the tops of their heads. Now, the Merit Vendors are another story entirely...

That seems unlikely. I figured it was a discrepancy between where the game drew the NPC's origin point, and where it assumed the origin was for interactions. (This can be a common problem, for example if the artist makes the model's origin in the center of the body vs. at the feet.)

also seems tied to avatar size.

All of my tiny avatars generally get in by clicking at the feet. Larger avatars click, they CLICK, in the middle. Huge avatars click on their heads.

Now, I know we make jokes about having to grope the officers to get through... but licking? Really? Doesn't that push us towards an AO rating, or at least an M?

Thanks all. I'm having a ball in game. I'll head back out with my hero and try to reach the Hollows again. Since I posted earlier, I've been playing my villain.

The Hollows have turned many a player to the dark side!

Glad you're having fun, and welcome to the game!

So, size does matter?

Used to not matter. You could click anywhere on the guard and you would zone. At some point they shrunk the interaction area; drives me crazy.

never, ever had that problem. been running in "windowed" mode for three years and have always clicked on the upper third of the guard's shields every time

different computers...

Another note - while you only have to be level 5 to reach the hollows, you need to have trained up to level 5 at Ms. Liberty or an equivalent - if you were out streetsweeping by the gate and just hit 5, they won't let you in until you've trained.

Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

Actually, almost all hazard zones no longer have a level requirement.

Cimerora, PvP, and Hamidon Zones.

Ah, thanks. Always forget about the PvP zones because on Victory they seem to be used almost exclusively for the PvE and Day Job stuff (RV seeming to be the only exception) and I've still yet to do a Hami Raid.

Dec out.

You do have to be level five for the arcs, however not only does the hollows now boast a field hospital to one side of the AP gate, there is a trainer on the other side.

To avoid confusion - above should read "hollows NOW boast a field hospital..."

Just in case someone read it as "...hollows NOT boast..."
