Stripping colors from posts

I know there's a script that's been made that strips colors out of people's signatures. I use that and love it.

However, lately there has been an issue that's getting worse, with people using ridiculously tiny text (and not for sarcasm or "asides"), really bad fonts (including our rednames...stop doing that!), or really terrible color choices. For a recent example, this is NOT the worst offender I've seen. Just in case she edits it to more sane colors: that is a comment in neon green, followed by a parenthesized comment in neon blue, followed by a line of neon pink. (Note that I'm not making fun of her. Amerikatt can be adorable, but that was just...awful.)

Is there a script that strips/overwrites font size/face/color formatting from posts? Preferably one that I can turn on and off easily, since guides and such often include legitimate changing of font style.

(Yes, I know I am inviting trolls and wannabe-comedians to post in this thread with horrific formatting.)

I can't recommend an add-on, but I can recommend this:

1. Copy the text to the clipboard from the original post.
2. Open Notepad.
3. Paste the text in. Note the absence of color and font formatting.
4. Reselect the text from notepad and copy it to the clipboard.
5. Start a new post.
6. Paste away.

I like the colors - they help brighten up the forums

Hrm, is there a way to do that in Stylish perhaps?

Life's too short to think "why" on posts like this. Please respond if you know a way to fulfill the original poster's inquiry.

Also, do you know a way for Chrome to disable signature pictures in a similar way that Greasemonkey works for Firefox?

There's probably a Greasemonkey script for FireFox that would do that...

I found one script here on userscripts.org, which the FireFox page for Greasemonkey links to. There are probably others as well.

I've not used this, and it has no comments/feedback on it, so I'd be careful to check out the script before using it.

Not sure what you're asking for. Do you not want to read such posts because of the difficulty to read? Or do not want to see posts like that at all?

You can easily quote a post, highlight the text and click the "Remove Text Formatting" button right next to the font dropdown select. Bam, now you can read it/quote it.

If you don't want to see them, you can just skip over the posts after you initially read them.

I kinda agree with aggelakis.
I'd like an option i can check to just disable the text coloring. Much nicer on the eyes with the default coloring.

I know there are other scripts there, as well, so you might check those out and see if any do the right thing for you.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I usually just mouse click and drag to highlight the text, and that takes care of the color issue. I know I saw scripts for changing font sizes, which is the other issue, but I've not tried those.

While this is a bit off topic, here's a script which will resize images that are bigger than the page width.
