New GR video! :D

Just typical Keystone Kops marketing. Although pointing and laughing about this is like shooting fish in barrel, sometimes it's just fun to do. Unfortunately, marketing isn't the best profession for on-the-job training, since missteps are too public, but most of these goofs would be ameliorated with some decent in-house communication. Meetings are a drag, to be sure, but they tend to keep things like this from happening.

That's probably the most accurate explanation of English I've ever seen.

My favorite version of that line is:

"English doesn't borrow words from other languages. English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them unconscious, and rifles through their pockets for loose grammar."

That's a paraphrase of a great quote by James Nicoll from Usenet (in rec.arts.sf.iforgetwhichone): "The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse *****. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary."

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Nicoll for the uncensored version.

Maybe ethically, but financially it is a great idea.

I don't plan to share it, but there is absolutely nothing they can do if I email it to someone as it was placed on a public host. And I mean that literally, not figuratively

It's like if you uploaded nude pics of yourself onto imageshack, rethought it and pulled them down shortly after. You can ask nicely that the people who grabbed them while they were up don't share them, but there is absolutely nothing other than good will preventing it.

Are you. . . . implying something?

Well after the joke of uploading a 6 second "teaser", it would be suiting to "leak" the full video. Seriously a 6 second teaser? That did not warrant an announcement of any kind.

That is figuratively a slap in the face, but thankfully not literally

*yaaaaawn*

So, they posted a video, and then changed their mind and took it back? We are talking about the CoX Marketing Dept, aren't we. Well-played.

ZzzzzZZzzz...

First of a series, eh? Nice. Sexy Jay and lumberjacks, eh? Who knew?

In other news, I keep hearing about this "revamped" "new player experience." I know that 1-20 in Praetoria will be different, but how will it affect the CoH and CoV tutorials

Yeah... I don't notice any difference. I thought maybe there was something they wanted to edit out.
I wonder what the big deal was about holding it off. I mean, there could be a ton of legitimate reasons, so I am not flaming them for it.
I just be curious, is all.

Before they released it today, I was wondering if that jumping effect while they mentioned Power Customization was an unintentional misleading edit or something (I kept trying to think if there was some other power that would cause that effect or something).
Anyways... I am glad that this was not the case, heehee...

(Of course, that effect could be something from Kinetic Melee [or some other new thing from GoRo] for all we know [not that I think that is the case... just saying])

They're referring to starting in GR.

I believe the original quote was "English doesn't borrow words from other languages; English follows other languages into dark alleys, knocks them over the head, then rifles their pockets for spare grammar."
