Retake Clone Lab Mission Unbeatable?

I just ran the Retake Your Clone Lab mission twice (part of Leonard's arc).

It appears to be unbeatable. After defeating Protean, we were told to flee. But there was no exit to be found anywhere, and the elevators on the floor beneath the one where we fought Protean were inoperable.

To make matters worse, neither of us could continue searching for very long, due to the fire. And even when standing in a spot where there was no fire, our Aid Self was unusable. Kept being "Interrupted" for no good reason whatsoever.

How are we supposed to complete this mission, other than just letting the timer expire on us?

You have to use the undamaged elevator tube. There are three elevator tubes, two are on fire and unsusable the third is undamaged and usable.

It is better to ask forgiveness than permission.

During a fire you should take the stairs

The self-destruct sequence also activates a anti-teleportation field, which will interrupt any interruptible powers. Mostly it's there so you can't just use the Pocket D teleporter or a similar power and skip that part of the mission.

Just curious... Is it possible to use Ouro Portal? I had no problem to get to the exit tho.

I'm pretty sure it is, but you miss out on the best part of the mission if you just leave like that. take the vators down and there's a nice surprise waiting for you on the way out.

ProTip: Click the elevator that's not on fire.

It did not seem very obvious considering the entire place was in flames. Thought there would have been at least some sort of indication of what to do.

Ah well, I'll flashback it with this character sometime and "do it right", and of course, I have plenty of other villains to go through this too, now that I know.

If I recall, clicking on the burning elevator gives you a message that implies you should try another one.

No real hint there that one of the others would be usable. I always thought the elevators were one single object, not 3 or 4 individual things. So because of that, I would have never even considered the possibility of trying another.

And had it suggested trying another, I would have ended up running all over the level trying to find another elevator room I must have missed.

At least I know for next time now.

If I remember correctly, the first elevator to take is the one facing the back wall. The next floor down the usable one will be on the left (as you face the back wall.)

Also, the O-portal is disabled for the entirety of the mission, including before self-destruct is activated.

Guardian 50s (redside): Connie Mand

Just occurred to me i saw one that wasn't on fire after seeing that message. Like you said, at least you know for next time.

Yep, ran it again and while I haven't paid attention to ouro before selfdestruct activation, it was disabled after.

OK, I have a question regarding what this thread is all about. I ran this mission when it first came out and at the end, after defeating Protean I...

*****SPOILERS Below*****

...found my duplicate laying dying among a group of other dead duplicates of me. He told me to get out while I could and something elese heroic I can't recall, and shortly thereafter I was forcably zoned back to Talos. Did I miss anything, or is this the way the mission is supposed to end?

*****End SPOILERS*****

Any answers would be appreciated. Also, what is that one power that Protean uses? Is that available to PCs, and if so, in which powerset(s)?

No, you ran the last mission of the Jenny Aldair arc, which is hero side. This is about the last mission of the Leonardo arc, which is villain side.

I had problems with my dominator in that mission. Ending the final fight hurt and with no way to heal myself since I burned all my inspirations during the fight, I died trying to use a burning elevator. By the time I got there my health bar was a pulsing red spot and soon after so was I.

There seemed to be way too many places where your only option is to run through the flames. Even flight doesn't help avoid them. I expect with practice (and e-mailed inspirations) I'll manage but it sure seemed hopeless on my first attempt.

[Edit] Correction Silver Gale - Next to the last mission.

Oops, my mistake. Thanks for the clarification.

yes, but in the villain side one you...

find one of your clones and have the option to save him or leave him, and then even more moral choices when you do save him, like allow him to leave and live his life, or tell him he owes you and is now your slave, etc. That's the entire reason I feel like this is a preview of the morale missions we'll be facing once GR comes out.

All of these new arcs have instances where you have a choice of how to respond. None of the choices seemed to affect the course of the story arc in any major way, but I definitely get the feeling that this is a taste of how things will work with GR and missions where your choices do have consequences.

Back on topic, I was able to figure out pretty quickly that I needed to find the working elevator, but I had trouble seeing where I was going because of all the fire. Next time I'll try to familiarize myself with the map layout a bit better. Even though I didn't escape in time, it still seemed like I completed the mission successfully. Is there a merit reduction if you don't get out before the timer ends?

Yes, I agree completely. It very much had a vibe of a morality check with it. I liked it immensely, personally.

That's what I'm wondering. There is also a badge for this mission, is it still awarded if you "fail" and don't make it in time?

That's exactly why I felt I should correct the poster, since they each contain a very similar situation, but in the villain one you get a choice and in the hero one you don't.

I did get a badge after I failed to exit in time. I don't remember the name of the badge (can't check at the moment) but I think the badge title was something about being blown up, so I believe it may have been result-specific (meaning I assume that I would have gotten a different badge had I got out in time). I could be wrong, though, so don't quote me on this.

"Explosive Finale
Protean thought he could put an end to you by blowing you up - you proved him wrong."

Is that the badge? If so, that's the one you get for completing successfully.
