Ahem...

(To the tune of the Merchandisers' song in CHESS)

"Whether RP or PvP
Or are on the fence
We are here to tell you
We need you to fix our Went's!
Not a chance of you letting this go too long
Not when the server's gone all wrong
We've got salvage that needs selling
And we will -- yes we will!
Coz if this don't get fixed soon then
We will kill!

Come on, get up --
Come on, get up, you don't need sleep
Til this thing is fixed
You must get the server running
Lest our sales get nixed
Let us list enhancements
Recipes
Sometimes inf's worth more than XPs
Try kicking the ******* server
Hey, who knows
Coz not having our black market
really blows!

Coz not selling really blows!"

No. The only unscheduled double xp weekend that I remember was given because of massive server crashing during a scheduled double xp weekend. Bugs can't be fixed in that short a time, so they gave us another weekend to make up for it, even though many people would rather they hadn't.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Actually Union did get a Double XP weekend once for the markets completely frelling up but that was because it was focused purely on Union and didn't effect any other servers and it was a bug that lasted about two weeks which required multiple rollbacks of Union...not a couple of days if I remember correctly.

This was back when we had EU representatives and EU located support staff admittedly.

My Alt-itis is flaring up enough that i didn't really notice that the markets down until i went to buy some set IO's, (though I wouldn't mind a purple or some costume tokens.)

This!

Looking back at Beta Testing, I can see where you can put in a request for multiples for bids. I never thought to test it as all I ever needed was a single this, that or the other thing. The market on Test is not as robust or versatile as it is on Live. I suspect no one else thought of testing that particular feature on Test either. On behalf of the Beta Testers, I do apologize for not catching this bug on test.

Hmmm...I haven't even bothered to check my auction houses yet. I might have lost something! As such, I'll wait for it to come back up and then check.

All that said, if they want to take the suggestion of giving every toon 3000 merits, I won't complain. In fact, I can see myself xfering alot of toons to other servers because of this >_>

I've got 3000+ unused ones - the merit system came after I'd gotten my IOs, so they've just kinda been building up

I'm one of those folks who is NOT a fan of double XP weekends, but I guess I'm in the minority over that. Doubling the rate at which new enhancement slots are generated without doubling the drop rate of recipes or enhancements to fill those slots? Even with doubling the Inf dropped directly by kills you still cause a jump in prices.

I'd rather see a double Drop-rate weekend. Once the Markets are fixed, let's flood them with products, to test the fix!

Heck, my April Fool's prank would be a Double Damage Weekend. Double all damage, both by PCs and NPCs. Remove the Anti-Oneshotting rule and the "Always 1hp or more after falling damage" rule.
Tanks would play like Scrappers, Scrappers would play like Blappers, Blappers would almost explode upon login. Servers might be able to handle it, but the hospitals would be strained.

Anyway, now Globals are down. Between Globals and the Market, I'm inconvienienced, but I played before either were around, and so I remind myself that both are optional and both can be worked around. And it's not like globals haven't proven to be fragile anyway, having broken multiple times in the past.

It's painless and didn't end the world when you gave us two months of free transfers. Quite a few people have come back to the game because of the awesome content that's been added and are bummed out that they missed the transfers. Also, what about adding in transfer tokens into some of the sub-par vet rewards?
There's nothing to make up for... WW/BM is down.... Tech Things Happen.

It's 106 miles to Grandville, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing faceless helmets

Lets admit it.

If the game was spewing out purples at 10x the normal rate this would have been hotfixed already.

And yes I saw many many players last night saying they werent doing missions because they had no inventory space left.

Boycott Ncsoft if they close down Coh.

My Sniper-concept characters, all two of them, would love such a weekend. BOOM HEADSHOT/ARROWINHEAD, BADWORDER! It'd be awesome. My Ice/Devices, built for maximum stealth and bombing runs, would simply be in heaven. I adore stealth kills and picking my targets.

Make it so.

Agreed...hmm this on a per character basis, like one selected character gets 3000 merits or all characters get it?

I mean I could use those merits for so many random rolls and help the market.

((incase you can't tell the above post is made in jest and not actually considering the 3000 merits idea a serious consideration))

1800 prestige (the maximum rent, as you're only allowed 18 storage items) is such a miniscule amount that it might as well not even exist. If they're going to run a script to give compensation for whatever people think needs compensating for, it might as well be something worth the time to write the script for.

(On topic: I agree with wanting some free transfer tokens, but I don't think there needs to be a reason to do so. )

Yeah, it would have been 'fixed', in that they would have simply turned off purples over the weekend until they could get a reliable patch onto test and then live.

Wow...I shouldn't be surprised, but still...

They don't "owe" us anything, but giving your paying customers, your life blood, a token, as a form of an appoligy for an inconvince, is never IMO a BAD idea. I've not really been intrested in playing CoH this weekend with all the bugs, the busted TF's, and the market being down IS annoying. And i don't EXPECT anything. But it still wouldn't nessessirly be a bad idea.

Everybody who logged in since i17 went live could be given a badge for surviving the market glitch: "Black Friday Survivor" or something like that could be a good pick for the badge name. Or perhaps that's a little too much dark humor, and the badge idea would go over like the proverbial lead balloon.

I'm essentially out of the markets these days, meaning I didn't lose anything, so perhaps its easier for me and others like me who didn't lose anything to let all of this go.

Would it be unreasonable to say "Sometimes stuff happens."?

Of course, and i expect that's what will happen. And i don't feel we need anything in compasion, but when a bussiness cause their customers an inconvience, it is IMO normally smart to try and placate them in some way. A small token, to say sorry. Doing so IMO builds a stronger repure with there customers. Like a restraunt that screws up your order may take an app off your bill, or give you an extra side on the house. Sure crap happens, but when your lively hood is making and keeping people happy, knowing how to handle situation when they aren't happy is key.
