Dear Fury (or whoever wants to chime in),
I recently rerolled a Fire/Elec concept character over to a FM/SD. I was hoping to get some feedback on his planned build. I know it's really expensive, but it's 1) a long-term project, and 2) backed up by about 750M laying around across a few different characters.
My one specific question pertains to DDR; I'm not quite sure how to read the way Mids displays it. Other than that, I'm open to most suggestions; I'd really like to keep the powers that I've selected. I see the inclusion of Fire Sword as being the most logical "sticking point" for some folks, but it lets me maintain an unbroken ST attack string, and also is sort of a set mule for a 6-pack of ToD, which I needed in order to cap Melee.

I think the build is fine. Mid's shows 47.8% DDR. You can see it by clicking the View Totals button and then seeing the totals for Status.
As to the particulars of the build, I think you'll find the scorch makes a good filler attack and using that with cremate and incinerate will make you chain gap free. It's why a lot of people skip fire sword. It's pretty easy to make the bonus up elsewhere...simply replace one of the attacks where you have Crushing Impact with Touch of Deaths and then move a slot to combat jumping and add some Defense.
You also can get by without manuevers IMO. The 3% defense it provides can easily be made up in a variety of ways (6 slotting Performance Shifter for AoE, slotting up combat jumping a bit, taking laser beam eyes and 4 slotting it with Thunderstrikes, etc.) But these are nitpicks, the build looks fine and very playable.

I want to make the Cheap Elec/Shield build, but i have a question. Can hover replace combat jumping? Meaning they look like the same amount of +Def in the builder, is that correct? And can I use all the AOEs while hovering?

Otherwise, yes, you can replace hover for combat jumping for the +def. Note however that hover has a higher end/sec endurance cost than combat jumping.
Do you have any recommendations for how to work Fly into the Cheap build for Elec/SD My concept needs it, but I'd really like to not sacrifice too much for it.

Note: the build below has soft capped defenses even without hover toggled on. I thought that was important since it would allow you to turn off hover, use LR and still be soft capped.
So, the modified Cheap build isn't as inexpensive as my Cheap build, but still far cheaper than my moderate build.

I ve had an ele/sd scrapper and tanker hanging around for a bit as concept toons and after reading this thread am excited about the possibilties. Quick question. The builds are all at level 50 - are the powers slots etc in the order they were taken to level or could you show a possible leveling mids.

However, if I were to level one today, I'd follow the power choice progression for the cheap electric/shield build. That one is pretty close, though the slots are off a bit on that too.
This thread has been a godsend. Thanks for the great info.
Since hover was not actively needed to gain soft cap, i made this build to try to remove my requirement for maneuvers and get combat jumping in there for combat maneuverability.
Please let me know how this looks and if there's any way to tighten it up and squeeze some more bonuses out of it. Or if I've totaly overlooked a hole.

I moved around a few slots and lowered your endurance consumption to .76 end/sec. Basically, I just swapped the slotting for Weave and Combat Jumping since 6 slotted Red Fortune has much better end redx than 4 slotted Gift of the Ancients. Otherwise the build looks great.

The builds were put together as builds you'd have at level 50. The slotting for some of them are off.
However, if I were to level one today, I'd follow the power choice progression for the cheap electric/shield build. That one is pretty close, though the slots are off a bit on that too. |

I'm just getting back into CoX after being away for a while, and stumbled upon this thread while trying to figure out what I was going to roll up after I resubbed. I decided to give Elec/SD a try since I only ever really played 1 scrapper before and he stagnated at level 30 or so. Since I'm starting fresh (for the most part), I'm using your cheap build and more or less following it to the letter as I level (I took chain induction way earlier than you suggest because I don't really need a travel power right now what with having temps, but otherwise it's spot on)
I do, however, have a question. Would it be feasable (and moreover, wise) to replace Manuvers with Hasten? I'm sort of a noob when it comes to IO sets, so I don't really know how important the set you have in Manuvers is. If I can't drop manuvers, can I drop something else, or is Hasten just not that important? I remember back when no build did without it, but I'm not sure if things have changed.

Hasten is a great choice electric/sd since anything that brings your two nukes up faster makes it far more powerful.

I moved around a few slots and lowered your endurance consumption to .76 end/sec. Basically, I just swapped the slotting for Weave and Combat Jumping since 6 slotted Red Fortune has much better end redx than 4 slotted Gift of the Ancients. Otherwise the build looks great.
