I wonder if energy aura will follow.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

It's got some range, which is good for Stoners in Granite.

It's got some KB, which is bad for Stoners in Granite.

i think this might be of some assistance, theres a video up of a short clip of kinetic melee here

it looks more like knockdown or low mag kb to me

I'm just wondering how much AoE it will have...

Looks like long animating knockdowns. Maybe some kind of Energy Melee with KD instead of stun and some kind of Siphon. It doesn't look THAT impressive in the video...

This is the exact set I want. I hate stuns.

I do like the looks of the powers though. Seems to be what the doctor ordered for a telekinetic melee.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

Thanks for the video link, the set looks pretty interesting.

Long animations probably means low DPA attacks. I'm suspecting it's gonna suck almost as much as Dual Pistols.

Do you have a table to prove it?

Being Kinetic it could well be that there are variants of Siphon Speed and Fulcram Shift allowing a Granite to overcome it's negative damage and movement.

Fulcram Shift variant in place of build up.

Just speculating of course.

If the set has alot of knockback, I will cry. And probably not play it.

If it has knockdown, I will be in love.

And in the video, it did look like he used a fulcrum shiftish like BU power.

the video shows all the attacks doing knockdown, so I don't see a problem unless you like fighting -con enemies though you might groan a bit with Clockwork minions and Tuatha del Dannon as they have pretty weak KB protection/resistance/whatever

From the YouTube clip, it did look like it had siphon .... something. It also seemed to have fair number of short range attacks.

It doesn't take a table to see that those attacks have ridiculously long animation times. And as Silverado said, long animations = low DPA.

No. Long animation means long animation.

DPA stands for "damage per animation." It can't be calculated without knowing how much damage it puts out.

I'm sorry if it seems like I'm picking on you, but seriously, complaining about DPA in a promotional video?

I'd just add that after Castle with BABs modified cast times and the duration of the rooted portion of attack animations starting in Dec 07, he left himself with a base formula that he's doubtful to deviate vary far from.

A slower cast might be an offset to a self speed boost and or higher damage along with strong damage mitigation.

But then that's what testing is for and I can't wait to get a look at it.

It's hard to explain this, but I'll try my best.
If an ST melee attack recharges in 8 seconds, it will most likely Bonesmasher/Haymaker damage. Both of those do respectable DPA.

If Kinetic Melee also has a 8-second ST melee power, it will most likely deal the same sort of damage as Haymaker/Bonesmasher does. Except that you will be waving your arms for a long time. I can't make out which move on the video would be that, but that set looks to be filled with them.

Unless the powers break the rules like the old PSW or are given Dominator treatment of high recharge/damage/endurance versions of powers, then the set will be low DPA. How likely can you see that happening?

I did go "oooh aaah" on the video, but I think Silverado is right. Unless the set has other remeeding qualities, it will 'suck' from a min-maxer's perspective. Many don't see the extra range and KB as good advantages, so yeah. All show and no go.

It's early in development, so they might change it up a bit. But for me, I'd have to say the video didn't make me want it.

As Silver and others said... Longish animations on all attacks shown, if it stays that way Energy Melee will have nothing to complain with 'only' ET and TF being long lol.

Basing all that pessimism entirely on a 40 second video clip, or do you actually know what powers 1-9 will look like when this goes live?.
Not unexpected, but perhaps through months of testing and feedback they wont put out a set that's universally disliked. Just maybe guys.

Long animations can possibly lead to later than normal responses. I hope there isn't too much. If I wanted to concentrate on damage I might consider it in the Scrapper or Brute section.

Oh man, it looks awesome. Just what Ive wanted forever. No matter how bad it sucks Im IOing one.

Then Im sticking it on the last page of my character list and playing my SS Character.

I have to agree that, based solely on the video clip, the set looks unattractive to me. Visually it's effective but the sheer length of the animations is a major drawback as far as I'm concerned... the length of animation is the primary reason why I retired my Stone/EM tanker shortly after the ET nerf.

Admittedly the clip only shows a few of the powers but unless there are some pretty major redeeming features I doubt I'd play it.

Basically I guess I'm saying that we don't know enough at the moment to really judge the performance but things don't look promising.
