I wouldn't pay too much attention to the animations at this stage, it's a promo video designed to show off the powers and make them look flashy. I doubt there'll be more than a passing resemblance once it hits.

Transfusion / siphon life
Transference / dark consumption
fulcrum shift/ souldrain
siphon power/ I dont see a single target in the works, but dual pistols does have a single target -resist for lethal
siphon speed/ combos, the more hit, the faster you become

i really hope NO hand clap type power... but I can see how it would fit.

I see a kin/nrg brute in my future me thinks. I dont know what tank set I would pair with it.

I am looking forward to seeing what the set is. I am sure I am way off with my thinking.

YMMV---IMO

I may be totally wrong here, but a melee set with a fair number of short range attacks got me thinking: What if you couple it with a Whirlwind/Repel?? Wouldn't it be a ridiculously survivable set with all the range and the knockdown?

I'd bet money that those will be the final animations barring some possible animation speed tweaks (though I find those to be somewhat unlikely). Just look at Dual Pistols for example. The animations we have for the set now are essentially the exact same ones shown at Hero Con just minus the doves.

I mean animations, especially nicely done and flashy animations aren't exactly something you just whip up for a demo and then toss aside.

I'd agree that the animations shown will, more or less, be final with perhaps only 1 or 2 exceptions if testing proves that there really aren't enough fast activating attacks.

However, considering Castle (and BaB's) recent work with new formulae taking into account animation time, as well as the fact that there seems to be a whole lot of KD/KB in the set, and that it is also, as far as one can tell, all extra-melee range (i.e. it looks like pretty much every attack has a range greater than 7 ft.), there might be enough "perks" to warrant the longer animation time while not gimping the set.

I'm actually basing my pesimism on recent precedents (ie Dual Pistols), since it seems to be the same team of developers working on these recent sets we've gotten. I think the last decent set that came out was Dual Blades, where they just about got it right in terms of flashiness/usefulness.

I know nothing yet though, that's why the keywords on my original post were probably and suspect. I'd love to be wrong on this one.

It doesn't have to work towards PvPers or AV/GM soloers niche. It doesn't have to stand out amongst other sets but it may offer something that other sets don't and I think that due to balance is possibly the main criteria. I'd level a character if it's got something completely new to it.

I was making fun of the video on my guild forum calling it "Ki Combat", ala Dragonball or even just Tai Chi, nothing to do w/Kinetics (which all combat is, really), but one of Castle's comments made me think that good things might happen to you upon getting hit (i.e. receiving kinetic energy). Now *that* would be nice for a tanker set and maybe brute.

Otherwise, I'm w/Silverado as being decidedly underwhelmed atm.

Me? I'm betting that the set's animations get faster the more you attack. Maybe recharge too.

Kind of slow attacks at the beginning, then you get faster and faster as combat goes on.

Well, if there is a meta-game involving the mechanic the set uses and it is *fun*, does it really matter if the set is TEH UBERZ or if it is simply balanced with a different aspect in mind?

Personally, I'm less concerned with the numbers and more concerned with what concepts I can pull off with this.

Also, I hope the 'taking damage' mechanic isn't exactly what the set's quirk is. Stalkers aren't meant to take damage, they're designed to minimalism the foes targeting them.

Fun is a very subjective term, some of us have fun by playing sets that perform well. You've seen Statesman, Positron and Synapse ingame? have you seen what they can do? I don't want my toons to be second rollers compared to them, I want to be equal or greater, and I ain't accomplishing that with a weak set that looks pretty (and this philosophy isn't limited to the Tanker AT, applies to all).

So 'balanced' it now called weak?
