I tried several times... eventually, I always got bored of seeing nobody anywhere and kept going back to Virtue. The one time I was able to find a team on Triumph, it was in the RWZ, which my MM is too low to get into.

The RWZ is now open at level 1 - the contacts don't open any lower than before, but any level can still join a team there.

Anyway, there's still a few hours of 2XP left - so your MM on Triumph might be able to get a level or two

Highlight of the weekend for me was leading an 8-man PUG in Talos for mid-20 heroes doing radio missions. I think we were 5 blasters, a troller, a tank and a defender. Started out with me and two friends, then another friend joined, then we had four folks LFT so we invited them. Later one friend had to drop, so hubby joined in.

Much fun discussion about which faction to fight:

Me: "Let's see... we got-"
Teammate: "FREAKS!"
Me: "No, no Freaks this time around."
Teammate: "Drat."
Me: "We got Council... Tsoo... and something I can't tell by the name."
Other teammate: "What's the name?"
Me: "(I forgot what it was)"
Other other teammate: "Um... BP?"
Other other other teammate: "BP! MASKS!"
Team: "MASKS!"
Me: "Okay, we'll go fight BP."
(What do we end up fighting? Lost. As it turns out, that was the mission that the ENTIRE group ended up levelling TWICE by timing coincidence. After that, we made a point of taking Lost missions for luck.)

I think we ran for about three hours or so non-stop. Had an absolutely fantastic time.

Spent more time sleeping, playing Modern Warfare 2, and playing Mass Effect 2 than I did playing this game. No double XP in MA = business as usual for me, I suppose. I did run a kill-most ITF (42 minutes) and "skip crap" STF (38 minutes) for the inf. Recluse gives 1.3 million inf when in SG mode, I discovered.

I hope I can get home in time. I got the name "Criminal Scum" and I'd hate for the character to go to waste.

That's nice of you! I'll be sure to. The way things are going though, I probably won't be home before Double XP goes away, alas.

The only thing of significance was joining a Dr Q saturday night. It was old school PUG, by which I mean:
- First drop out after the second mission. His reason: because it was taking longer than expected, even though he joined off the global channel. The channel where the (never done Dr Q before) leader spent half an hour recruiting and everyone telling him how crazy he was due to its length.
- Second drop out disappeared without a word.
- Third drop out went afk to eat supper "real quick" and never came back.
- Fouth stayed with us for 2/3rds of the run before disappearing, also without any warning which really surprised us

It was a tough slog. I was a Traps/Ice Def, along with 2 Scrappers (one was the leader and the other was a multi-year vet) and a Peacebringer (only a year plus, but said he's done Dr Q before). We finished it just under 8 hours, at about 4am my time. I forgot to take a look at the count for number of defeats, but it must have been huge. The last mission in particular was completed by brute force attrition. We were making so many runs back from the Hospital and I emptied half my Base's meager store or medium Inspirations even though I was trying not to use them so quickly. I got 4 levels out of it, 41-->45. I also got the 2nd Damage badge along with the 5th AND the 6th Debt badges. I received the 4th Debt badge only the day before.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Oh wait, I do have a story, from when I was on Virtue.

I was playing my lowbie (now 20) Brute, and got onto a full PUG. The leader warns us that he'll have to go AFK for a while, and when that happens if someone else could temporarily take the star and keep the team going because he doesn't want it to die. Seems reasonable - he says it'll be only 20-30 minutes, and while leading a team isn't exactly my favorite thing to do, I don't mind taking the reins for a few missions while I wait for the real leader to get back. So, he has to go, gives me the star, goes AFK, sits there, doesn't quit the team or anything. No biggie.

Several minutes in, he disconnects. I figure he'll send me a tell when he gets back... after all I did tell him to, and he seems like a decent guy.

20 minutes turns into 30, and I don't hear a word. Then 40... great. Just lovely. Somewhere around the hour mark, when I'm waiting for everyone else to get out of the mission we just completed, I see a broadcast for forming a team... guess who?

GAAAAAHHHHHHHH.

Back for the reactivation weekend. Ironically I spent most of my time trying out the guest author MA arcs, since that's pretty much all of the new content added since the last reactivation weekend. Meh. Freedom server was pretty laggy at times too, surprising since the population didn't seem very high.

*shrug* See y'all next reactivation weekend.

Not a rant about the game itself, but anything that's as repetetive as CoX content is will get stale and boring after 5 years.
This. Or most of this. Ran with some PUG groups and some SG mates. When we did some old TFs and radio missions, it got boring and fast. The same maps, same enemy groups...it was too much to stomach. I didn't go for too long this 2XP weekend. This game is beyond stale and I don't know if GR will change it.

On another note, I was very happy to see the big 2 servers hit medium load. Have not seen that in a long time. It has been almost 2 years since I have seen servers at high load or greyed out due to high population - sad but true.

Got a dark/stone tank from 31 to 35, a traps/dp defender (my first serious defender attempt) from 10 or so to 32, a new corruptor to 10, another corruptor from 9 to 14, and a couple of levels on a dominator. The only bad point was a pick-up mothership raid that went south very fast on the first night, so mothership raids have become yet another thing where I refuse to lead no matter how much someone begs me to.

More importantly, I enjoyed almost every minute of it and never had trouble finding teams when I wanted them, even on a "dead" server. Nearly everyone I met was cheerful and upbeat. While my own predictions about the game's future and the population of servers other than the two largest post-Going Rogue remain dark, I've come to realize that it's not the game community, but these forums, that are a morass of jaded negativity, and I've resolved to cut back on my forum time yet again. The actual in-game community is pretty pleasant.

Well, my double xp time is officially done. (I won't be able to get in anymore until after it turns off.)

I enjoyed some villian strike forces, which were pretty enjoyable. I've never taken any villians very far so some of the set pieces were very new to me, for example the Sky Raider's rig at the end of the Silver Mantis SF. There were some interesting characters in there as well that I didn't know about like the Super Freak.

At the end, I'd taken my grav/storm troller from 35 to 45 (only 5 levels from reaching my goal of a 50 of each control primary) and took my plant/psi dom from 24-ish to 32.

Picked up a few levels on my AR/Dev blaster, getting her from 44 to 47. Not really DXP related but I got into a group taking out Lusca as well so that was fun. Did a couple task forces including an ITF which we actually failed. We started with only seven people, highest level was 46 (me at the time) and lost a person before hitting Rommy. We just didn't have it in us to whittle Rommy down and, after a couple wipes, we called it. Oh well, I was mainly in it for the experience anyway.

Took my Earth/Storm controller from 26 to 30. Was hoping to make 32 and get my pet but that didn't happen. Still, there seems to be a sharp curve in the mid-late twenties where I was feeling more and more capable as a charater. Definately something of a late bloomer but at least the next two levels don't feel so unbearable before I can actually start putting out a little DPS beyond Gale.

Took a Peacebringer up to level 10 with a quick sewer run. Not especially feeling the love for the PB but I'll try it again a little later.

Decided to play one of my lower level defenders, a 20 ice/ice. Get invited to a pickup team. Leader decides once he's assembled the team, he's going to pass the star to whoever is highest level. This person gets mad, doesn't want star. Leader says we get more experience at higher level, someone else says no you get more experience at a lower level, and they argue for the next 10-15 minutes about it.

Yeah, it looked like a real good team. We wound up setting a mission for the guy who would not be Leader (the actual leader didn't realize we would be the right level even if the mission holder wasn't the leader) and it was set to a very high difficulty. Leader is constantly afk due to phone calls -- I wondered if he wasn't running a business at the same time he was playing. Multiple team wipes, people started dropping, and then suddenly the guy whose mission it is drops too.

At least by this point I'd gained a couple of levels.

So... after that a couple quit, there were only 3 people left. Leader built a new team, then wanted me to get a mission (I was now highest level). We went on to Talos so that I could get a radio mission, I set my difficulty to +1, grabbed a Council mission. Easy, right?

Well, no. The other defender was a dark with no IOs slotted, so his heal missed a lot. I greatly suspect that several other members of the team were also running with no IOs slotted, and some were below level 20 so no stamina... and combine that with multiple mistakes, usually a different person each time, and we had several more team wipes. The leader quit, leaving me in charge. Another had to leave, but the rest of us struggled through the mission to the end... where one lone Council was stuck in the ceiling and couldn't be targeted.

Two of us used self destruct to blow him up.

Later I joined a different team that included the tank from that less successful team... and we steamrolled everything. I gained 3 levels, so my defender is now 25.

So they should never have updated the servers capacity? You do realize they have done so several times... which is why what used to cause a red load now barely rates a yellow. Seems most people would think that was a good thing.

As for me - finished getting another version of my forum-namesake to 50, got the bane that's been irritating me for so long up to 48 (and saw there's still no Gaussian's Rech/End on the market - well, one, total, but going for more than the INF I have on that character,) few levels on a few others. Spent most of it hanging out with friends and running "just whatever."

I wasn't able to lvl up characters on Thursday evening because I took part on a MoSTF attempt (only 4 deaths, we were that close), and I spent Friday night playing normal contact missions redside; after that this is what I got along the event:

- bane spider (from 31 to 33)
- ws (from 24 to 29)
- tanker (from 32 to 35)

I could have played more time, but it was quite profitable anyway... between Saturday evening and Sunday night I arranged and completed Cavern, Sister Psyche, Citadel and Manticore (full version, not a ghostable one), no so bad.

I passed the weekend just the way I would have loved.

Friday I did a House MD binge, watching about 15 episodes and making that my ENTIRE day.

Saturday and Sunday I managed to get a little playtime in by myself, which is just the way I like it. No team-mates to try and be responsible to, just me and my own missions. I had a couple of friends drop by the house for much of the weekend, and I probably ended up spending more time playing Battlefield 2142 than I did City of Heroes.

I also ended up seeing Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief on a friend's invitation, but it didn't end up being as good as he'd hoped. I decided against explaining to him I expected about as much.

My Dual Pistols Blaster went from level 9 to level 24, and the "stale" content doesn't seem to be affecting me. I know most mission briefings by heart, but all this means is I don't have to read them, which saves me a bit of time. I said it six years ago, and I'll say it today: All I want out of this game is more Nazi to kill. I don't exactly have many Nazi to kill right now, but there are PLENTY of substitutes that do just fine.

Got my Traps/Pistols defender from 16-44, friend managed to get their dual pistols blaster to 50.

Favorite moments include seeing a blaster defeat a Tsoo Sorcerer with Executioners shot from behind while saying, "Teleport THIS!" and another one teleporting in ontop of my tripmine.

I'd laid it by accident so it was too far away form the mobs to be of any use but the Tsoo sorcerer blinked into existence and the by now familiar noise of the 'beep beep beep' followed by an explosion of firey doom.

Just pictured the Tsoo looking down and going, "ooh fu-" before it went off.

Got my highest level from 45.01 to 49.7 when I got serious with some friends sunday. Made the .7 in the last 20 minutes of it as I did a Orebanga mission. Then the last 5 minutes of it, got the Tome of Pers*something*one, made it to AP and was at the City Hall doors when I got booted.

I am taking my sig to MWO and MWT. Let them wonder what it means.
