I thought people who were 60 month vets and had the Loyalty Badges got into closed beta...
That was for testing Going Rogue. I'm not sure that applies to Issue 17.

Current testing includes no less than 2 highly advertised components (possibly more) of Going Rogue. I would advise that you send a note via customer support notifying them of the problem.
And, no, I'm not breaking the NDA, because I'm not in closed beta--I'm in the same situation as you are, Robo_Knight.

I just tried to get in again and the message was changed to say the server was not open to the public yet, yadda yadda yadda. So the test server upgrade is there, the elite few are tackling the big ugly bugs first.

While its got two big features from Going Rogue, i17 is not Going Rogue. The loyalty program was specifically for Going Rogue, the paid expansion. The devs (allegedly) said they would try and get Ultra-mode out before GR came out, so if that's the case, well, they're making good on that. But your beta-perks for Going Rogue don't apply for i17.
That was it right?
Because I can't get onto the Test Server even though I have a 60 month badge and a Loyalty Program badge, any ideas? |

Yeah... closed betas can be interesting, but honestly I've come to the conclusion that real betas aren't that much fun and most players should be grateful they're not subjected to them

Is it sad that I still take screenies of busted terrain and graphical glitches more than any other sort of screeny?
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Granted, last time I was doing that my GeForce was slowly dying of heat stroke.
Don't they add people in waves? (so first the one they choose, then the 60 month veterans, then the loyalty badges etc)
Don't know the exact order. |
Even if they are going to apply the 60-month vet, the loyalty program, or HeroCon attendees status to the I17 Closed Beta, that doesn't mean we are going to get in the first day.
Most Beta's start with a small Friends and Family invitation, then they have additional waves of invites based on different criteria. Sometimes we don't even know what that criteria is because they don't tell us.
I would qualify under all of the items listed above except Friends and Family or (probably) whatever SuperSecretBetaQualifications that the team uses this time around. I never could figure out Ghost Falcon's SSBQ, and since I know even less about Doc Delilah I doubt I'd be able to figure her SSBQ out either.
Am I chomping at the bit to test out I17 for Ultra Mode or the changes to Positron's TF or the new market interfaces? You bet. But nothing I do will get me into the Beta any faster. I'll just anxiously await my invite, and keep trying to get in anyway in case it gets lost in the email system.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

Now that I've got a fairly new computer again (less than a year old, video card should be quite good for testing UM) I'm eager to go hunting these again. It got to be less fun testing with a video card that was top of the line when purchased in April of 2005 and has aged rather gracefully, but still is showing it's age.

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
It's like the Bughunter badge.
Anyone who thinks they have a RIGHT to be in closed beta imediately gets sent to the back of the queue.
I really should do something about this signature.

So, forgive those of us who misunderstood that to mean that we'd be in closed beta based on participation in the Loyalty program, our vet status, or whoever attended Hero Con this year.
Oops.

Which is ironic, since the Devs actually told us this time who would be in beta and who wouldn't, based on participation in the Loyalty program, our vet status, or whoever attended Hero Con this year...

And having Ultra Mode moved to Issue 17 doesn't mean you're entitled to test it as a GR beta tester. They told us right after HeroCon that they'd try to release Ultra Mode before Going Rogue if it were possible, and oh, lookie here, it's possible!

Enough with the angst guys. Lots of folks didn't get in, you're hardly alone in that. I figure a couple weeks of CB and they'll open it up and we can all go see the new toys. And they might go and do some extra CB waves or open it up to Loyalty folks first before making it a full OB. Chill and have patience. I'm dying to see how my rig will do UM too but it's not like there's anything I can do to get in till they let me. So go play that Live version, hang and commiserate with the rest of us who didn't get in, beat on some mobs if it makes you feel better, and just have patience.
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
Which is ironic, since the Devs actually told us this time who would be in beta and who wouldn't, based on participation in the Loyalty program, our vet status, or whoever attended Hero Con this year...

But yeah, I17 closed beta is here and you aren't in it. Boo hoo. Wait a while and open beta will come, or you might even get invited in a week or two. It shouldn't be too long.
Read over the program again:

I know you all are being hopeful, but notice how this was announced before i17. It say GR closed beta. Never once does it EVER say anything about any other issues or expansions of any kind. The loyalty program is a GR exclusive ONLY. i17 is NOT included. Sorry guys, but it's not rocket science. You are not entitled to anything in i17 CB, but when GR CB starts and they get to your tier you are good to go!
Kindly link to where they said that those would apply to anything other than the Going Rogue beta?

Loyalty Program participants, Veterans and Hero-Con Attendees today is the first opportunity for you to see your devotion to City of Heroes® pay off!
now ultra mode should not be part of that but demon summoning would get any of the above into closed beta i would think.

yeah i know, i have the badge and nothing. In fact nc soft is a month late on one of my rewards as is. I'm tired of having to email them to remind them that a vet reward was not awarded.

TJ was correct, people get invited in waves, no ones status guarantees which wave they get in one. A 60 month Vet could get invited the first day, or in the final week of Closed Beta. I got into I13 or 14 CB because of HeroCon attendance in '08. You know when I got in? 3 days before it went to Open Beta.
