  1. Any set that has a Rularuu, Mot, Prae Hami, or Shivan theme would tickle me beyond measure. Think body eyeballs, tentacle back pieces, transparent, gelatinous body parts, nasty, monstrous heads and the like.

    Yeah, I want -monster- characters.
  2. Maybe this means males will get the CoL masks? Well, probably not.

By some small miracle I had some spare time in my schedule in this milestone. So rather than spend the day twiddling my thumbs, I have ported the following Costume Pieces over to female:

    Misc Jackets
    • Baron Jacket
    • Baron Jacket with Vest
    • Steampunk Jacket
    Gunslinger
    • Jacket
      • Leather
      • Plain

    • Jacket Sleeves with cuff

    • Jacket Sleeves without cuff
      • Leather
      • Plain
    • Hat with Skull

    • Hat without Skull
      • Leather
      • Plain
    • Shoulder Pads
    • Pants with bell bottom
      • Plain
      • Leather
    • Pants without bell bottom
      • Plain
      • Leather
    • Boots with spur
    • Boots without spur
    • Hip belt without bullets (Mainly for Jackets)

Unfortunately we were not able to port over the Gunslinger shirt to female due to various clipping issues.

These updates can be expected with the upcoming launch of Issue 22! I hope you all enjoy the pieces we had time to port over!

Yeah, I could definitely see the case for /fire, but /dark hasn't even come out yet. What do you think gives it the edge?

    Dark/ doms

I was thinking about messing with the new Dark Control set in PvP whenever i22 goes live. Thematically, I'd like to pair it with thorns but I have no experience with it in a PvP setting. Does that sound like a viable combo, or does NRG look like the big winner?
  6. Yeah. It makes mixing and matching parts from different sets much more difficult when so many pieces seem to have their own arbitrary shade, tint, or glossy/reflective surface that you can't disable(Celestial set, crab pack, Ascendant, etc...)
  7. The glowing, halo-like Celestial back piece's shading seems to be off, as of Tuesday's patch. It appears much darker than it did before. Additionally, since they were added to the game, the Celestial gloves are shaded much more brightly than the rest of the set, making colors appear washed out and less apparent. I have only seen this on the Male gender, and have not checked Female and Huge. I imagine it is the same, however.
  8. Probably just a confirmation thing. I'd very much like to see the grand prize winner, based on the quality of the other winners' entries.
  9. No announcement yet, but I noticed that 12 months have been added to my subscription time. Happy day.

DEVS do NOT LET THIS get ignored because ur ADD always kicks in anytime you want to just focus on new shinies. Plz if you spent the time to proliferate and update poison get it fixed before issue 30(YEAH im that optimistic)
  11. I expect it would be coming Monday or so... or perhaps, they are waiting for confirmation from all the winners before they post the results.
  12. Eh... I won as well.

Malithrax, the sentient alien virus masquerading as an angel.

  13. Messages have been sent out to winners. No post on the MMORPG.com site, however.
  14. Just make them usable. Nobody playing this game is going to wrinkle his nose at how x clips with x or whatnot... they're going to love you for providing a few more options for them.

As for turning off new players, well... character customization is one of, if not the biggest draw that this game has to offer. Offering them an even bigger flood of appearance options is only going to draw players in who are looking for that in a game.

As for the clipping, as many others have said in many other threads, we'll work around it. There are already a plethora of clipping issues with existing parts, but we don't think less of the art team for it. Put the tools in our hands and see what we can do with it, instead of holding them back in an attempt to save face, when in reality, it's just pissing off a lot of the player base.

However, if it's a big animation clipping issue(which I'm positive it is with the long robes), then that's just ugly and there's not much you can do about it.

And you'll never see the wolf tail. It was obviously just shopped and is meant to be a joke to drive all the furries back to Second Life.
  16. I can finally give my angel-eating sentient virus a proper appearance.

Always with that song. Why not "Take me to your heart" for a change?
Yeah. GR is either going to revitalize CoH or drive it into the ground.

Don't they like playing, too? It doesn't even have to be a huge event. Just pop in, hang out for a couple of hours in Pocket D, throw around some gold titles, answer a question or two, and head out. Two or three nights later, have Hero 1 pop in, PvP a few rounds, and head out. Once a week or so, War Witch PuGs with a random team. Once a week or so, Dr. Aeon drops by Architect Entertainment and tells everyone that he wants to get a team to run one of their mission arcs. Yes, this is catering to existing players, but if new players saw this kind of interaction, they'd be a hell of a lot more likely to stay with the game.
Seconded, man. One of the highlights from my Asheron's Call days was the advent of this evil dark deity guy. I forget his name, but his coming had a huge buildup in the previous patches, and when he finally arrived, he was directly controlled by one of the developers. He would actually roleplay, interacting with the characters and fighting them as well. These interactions played out differently on each server, but it made the community feel that our actions actually had an impact in the overall story of the game.

But yeah, actually getting to interact with the developers and community team on a regular basis in-game would certainly make the game more meaningful and help to keep new players around.
  19. Perhaps a big marketing push in Gamestop for GR could be fruitful. One of the things that's kept WoW afloat after all these years is that it's more or less mainstream and every patch/expansion release is heavily promoted. If CoX became more visible by way of GR, it might show the gaming community that this game is still holding its own in an increasingly competitive MMO scene.

I don't know how well last year's Architect Edition sold, but I didn't notice any advertising accompanying its release. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the buyers were already owners of the game who needed an updated disc for reinstalls. Gamestop runs these cool little ads in their stores promoting upcoming games. Some of these ads are TV commercial style but you only see them in the store, other ads are interviews with developers, etc. Considering that the only direct competition for CoX right now is CO(which is apparently nosediving), we can still get plenty of players in here for GR.

Do some interviews on G4. Attack of the Show and X-Play get a lot of viewers and making CoX more visible through interviews and similar promotions certainly can't hurt. Besides, practically everyone watching the channel is a gamer anyway, and it's probably not as expensive as running ads on a more mainstream network.

I'm sure someone's already mentioned this, but maybe distributing more CoX trial discs would be a good idea. I haven't really looked at the store shelves recently, but I really haven't noticed anything CoX-related in stores for a while now.

There are a couple of big superhero films coming out this year, and it's likely that some people will be looking at superhero games to play. So... definitely a good time to actually do something to promote the game. Let's not sit on our hands anymore, okay?

  21. Yeah. I gots a feeling that today is the day. Anyone who thought it would happen on any Monday needs to open their eyes and look at almost everything else that's ever been released CoH-wise.

    Death Emotes.

Yeah, it was in my head, but I forgot to mention that simply allowing us to turn on ragdoll deaths for our characters(albeit stationary ragdolls, wouldn't be fun sliding down a hill into a mob or something) would be a welcome addition. Thanks for bringing that up!
  23. Gerad_Gantert

    Death Emotes.

First of all, I'd like to point out that I only did a cursory search of the forums for previous suggestions of this nature. I couldn't find anything, which surprised me, because it seems like an obvious idea. That being said, forgive me if this has already been suggested, or subsequently shot down by the devs(although that last one doesn't really seem like much of a guarantee, looking at the past several issues).

So, I was watching my teammates die the other day and I noticed something. Death animations are very bland and boring. I mean, it gets the job done and all, it's obvious you died. But it's all so generic. With the selectable costume change emotes we got last year, a logical choice in the direction of fleshing out one's character concept would be to have selectable death emotes.

Perhaps your character is a cyborg, and it wouldn't make sense for him to simply fall on his face and die? So you use a death emote that shows him short-circuiting before collapsing, or something along those lines. Maybe he's an angsty anime vampire? He could drop to his knees, then scream at the heavens in rage/dismay before falling to the ground. I mean, there are a countless number of things one could come up with for a death animation, I'm just throwing these out as examples.

What I'd like to know is what you guys think of the concept, if anyone knows if this has been discussed before, and it if seems like a feasible suggestion. As far as I know, the act of dying doesn't seem to interfere with any other animations, at least no more than a standard emote would. It just seems like a no-brainer, a little thing to add some flavor to player characters.
