Open Beta on the 29th?

Doesn't necessarily mean anything. The dual Pistols OB forums have been up for a while now - the set went live at the beginning of this month, after all - and having a largely pointless set of forums sitting around is just an eyesore. I've been wondering for a while myself when those forums were going to be taken down.
That said, the only ones who know if Issue 17 is ready for open beta or not are the developers, and they likely won't say anything until open beta is right upon us. Don't think the Training Room has been patched in maybe a week or so, so maybe we could be quickly approaching open beta. Conversely, based on personal experience in past CoH closed betas, going for a little while without a new patch is certainly no indicator of the overall state of the build.
Short version: Maybe, maybe not. Either way, we likely won't know until a Red Name posts saying that we're going into open beta.

Im puttin my money on next monday.As one of the red names said after PAX(this sat.) more info will be revealed. Then again i'm so hoping that they show a preview of the end game game content at PAX. It'd blow me away......dont know bout the rest of yall lol.
Ask me on the 30th, and I'll tell you if Open Beta started on the 29th.

Which always starts with Friend & Family. I don't think many waves of closed Beta have happened at this point. It needs to be polished enough so people don't scream about it being a POS in the early stages.

Closed beta should almost be over friend. Our friend Kheldarn above posted the information in another thread that shows the average time an issues have been in closed betas in the past...

Also, note that CB is to keep people from doing what you said above. If they always had an OB for things it would take forever to get constructive comments from people, since like you said they would say it is junk, but wouldn't understand how to tell Devs that is it junk. i17 would be in beta for half a year if they did that! lol

Wish I lived close enough to go to PAX or even to have went to Herocon. Blasted Illinois is too far in the middle to be close to ANYTHING good! lol

That's an assumption that's not supported by any Dev comment. There have been Closed Betas where they said the first wave was Friends & Family. But they have not said that about all Closed Betas, so, there's no way to know if that's true for all Closed Betas. Certainly for the I15 "Open Closed Beta", it did not start with F&F.|

As to the OP: The guess that clearing out the old Beta forums is a portent of new Beta forums is a rather good one. That has been the history. However, I've seen the old ones cleared and the new ones for a new beta not show up for a week or two. The mods have been known to get work done ahead of time by setting up the new forum in a private area and setting up the feedback and bug threads so that when the beta starts, all they need do is flip a switch making those forums accessible to players.

Well, with the announcement this morning that the GR Friends & Family Beta will start next week, I17 may go open come Monday...
