O M G - your toys are shiny and mine are not so I'm not going to play with you... nyah nyah. You've got to be kidding me ? No I didn't use quotes because that's not what was written, but it sure reads that way to me.

Yeah, Alt...I don't think you read that post correctly. In any case, bad form Paragon Studios on sending the advertising e-mail out for purchasing GR...when you can't actually buy it right now.

I don't have much patience from arrogant people with money, they are the ones that ruined the world economy for those of us that are suffering because of it ...and some of them...could care less about the economic state that some of us are in.

You must play villains primarily, because you certainly are no hero with the kind of attitude you are expressing.

I'm seriously tempted to double the freaking stakes and say that I'm not going to play with any teams on the live servers with anyone that has DP or Demon Summoning before GR is released. I may very well refrain from doing so just because of this jerks post.

Some of us are really suffering out here. It isn't a joke!

So, let me get this straight - I was planning on getting the pre-purchase for my two accounts, because it happens to come out at a time when I know I can afford it. The $30 worth of game time would be nice to have, but isn't critical since I'm paid up through Halloween on both accounts. (Which, coincidentally, gives me all summer to set aside the money to renew them.) And with so little information about what exactly is *in* going Rogue, the powersets are actually the main feature I'm looking forward to. But the fact that I'm willing to pass on the free time to get the powersets several months early means that I'm somehow an evil person? Ok, whatever. Even by Internet standards, that's one of the weirder statements I've seen recently.

I hadn’t planned on making any further responses to this thread, but Altoholic had to make it personal. I’ve been told by acquaintances that logic and reasoning shouldn’t be a part of the forum thread and I guess these folks I spoke with are correct. It’s sad, really, because one of the things I could count on for our forum boards was a reasonably intellectual discussion and keeping things rational. Sadly, this isn’t the case so much; these boards seem to have been reduced to the same kind of flaming that is so famous with other games, though I’m truly glad to say it hasn’t taken over completely.

My intention was not to sound or come off as arrogant. If that was the case, I’m truly sorry. I was, however, trying to show folks a common denominator.

Altoholic; what I gave you was an example of how the financial end of things work for GR and trying to give you an easy to understand example of what the Devs have in mind and why those of us who choose to prepurchase GR in March make that choice and why we’re not getting the “free” month. Some of it might have been off, but it was an example only. I was trying to use logic and reasoning to emphasize what was going on. I did not insult you personally, nor did I froth at the mouth and make insulting comments to you. Nor did I feel that I needed to emphasize what you’ve said with very large bold letters or color them so that they remind me of a bodily function. It just shows that perhaps your ability to reason has been reduced to automatically reacting to what’s said rather than pondering it for a moment or two and perhaps reading through again to make sure you got it right.

I make no disagreement that things are tough out there in real life. Things are tough for companies too, or did you forget that? Without our money, games like CoH/V would be out of business and we’d be playing something else that probably wasn’t as good of quality.

Whether you believe it or not (doesn’t matter to me one way or the other. I don’t make a habit of lying), I’m not some rich dude who has scads of money to spend. In fact, my income is rather limited and how I spend that income is my business. I just happened to comment that I’d prefer to spend money on pre-purchasing and calling the new powers “shiney toys” was an emphasis in how excited I was to have early access to powers that I’ve been waiting for since I started this game.

You said that I made your decision for you with regards to teaming with folks who have DP or DS. No, I did not. I may have influenced your decision in some way, but you made that decision all on your own. No one makes decisions for you (unless you let them), and I don’t recall saying, “Altoholic, you are not to team with any one who uses Dual Pistols or Demon Summoning until I say you can” You, yourself, make those decisions.

What I play online is also none of your business but I primarily play heroes as I find a lot of the stories more engaging and fun than the villainside, but judging me on what types of toons I play simply because I’m stating a fact -- go one way or the other financially with regards to Going Rogue -- is rather narrow in thinking.

Now, I think we should change the subject to pie, delicious pie. I, myself, prefer lemon meringue. You?

P.S. Zombie man; love the Youtube link! *thumbsup*

If you're pre-ordering the GR expansion to get the new power sets early, please enjoy them. (I probably will, but haven't fully made up my mind yet.)

However, if you are not pre-ording GR - and money is the issue - don't fret. Because sometime during those "extra" months, Demon Summoning will probably be on the Test Server. So while some of us will be playing with our cops and cowboys, you may be playing with demons in dungeons.

Also, if anyone is concerned about missing out on 2X weekend with the new powerset, consider this: Most of the fun is in leveling up - which is why more than 3/4 of my level 50 toons are sitting on a shelf, gathering dust, and not being played.

(In fact, I took advantage of the free server transfers to move many of them to other servers, to free up space on two servers I primarily play on.)

Regardless of what you do, have as much fun as you possible can.

So, I should expect to see that email around the end of March. I only just now received the email for I17 and the Spring Fling event. -.-

When I go to the supermarket and I have a list of 10 items, I don't want to make 10 trips, I buy all of what's on my list while I'm there.

Can we please get something like this as a purchase option?

I would simply like to go to the NC store, pre-order/purchase (whatever it's called) the complete collectors edition that gets me the same content and features as if I had pre-purchased the regular version and then went back to the store to purchase the upgrade.

Notice, AGAIN, I am not saying I want 30 free days time or any other variation of something for nothing, in fact, all I want is to give NC the same exact amount of money it was going to cost having to do all of this peacemeal, I just want a one click, one buy option.

Please Devs, simplify this for folks who don't want or have the time to ping pong in and out of the NC store.

I honestly don't think this is too much to ask for.

Looks like I wont be-pre-purchasing after all. Want it all together, and the free month of game time is a nice incentive to not buy them separate.

I see you comparing giving away $300-400 to one month of free play time.
That's garbage and you know it. The two do not equate.

I'd tell you where you can take your "I have money so if you don't you're just a crybaby" attitude if the forum rules didn't say I couldn't. Believe me I would Mr Arrogant.

I have it rough right now but I have always been good with my money. I don't have any credit cards. I am in debt to no one. The only thing I ever bought with a loan was a computer that I already had money set aside for so that I could get credit to buy a house. I had a mortgage. I don't have one any more. I live within my means. I do what I have to do to get by.
I can see how $15 makes a big difference to some people in these hard economic times.

If you can't have compassion for those that aren't as luck as you, I really wish the table turn and show you what it is like on the other end of the stick and then you might have a different perspective, but I'm sensing it would just probably make you more of a jerk.

I paid $50 for City of Heroes. I paid for a pre-release version of City of Villains. I don't know when I'm going to have the money to get GR. And you're tossing around $'s like the mean nothing.
Those $15 might mean nothing to you. (And I throw some money at the DEVs for booster packs when I can). But that $15 could very well the equivalent of $15,000-30,000 to you - aka so much money that it's a difference between paying rent, eating, putting gas in a car, or paying for utility bills.

But like I said in MY EARLIER POST in regards to this, if they want the free month, they can wait to buy it and train up in some patience along the way.

Those that have the loot to show-boat and act L337 because they have the extra buck can feel free.

You've made my decision for me. Regardless if I save up the money early to get the pre-release version of the game..I'll wait for the version with game time. I'm tight on cash and I don't have money to throw around. That $15 would really help me out. The DEVs can thank you for not getting that extra $15, oh arrogant one with $ and attitude to throw around at the less fortunate.

If $15 makes that big of a difference to someone maybe they shouldn't be paying that much a month and another $30 to play any game... I usually don't post things like this towards people. I usually try to explain more, but anyone that reads your post will understand. You just need to stop whining. If $15 is that big to you then don't use it on a game every month. Wait until you can afford it better or something. Don't get on here and get mad at people that CAN afford it. Geez! Some people!

Nice tension breaker Zombie Man! lol

P.S. @The_Alt_oholic: While I am running around with my Dual Pistols you will just be doing the same old thing not teaming with me cause you're being a big baby about it... Just saying!

I can afford it just fine. I can also sit on my hands until July and save $15. Plenty of other things to do.

A very well written reply. I am in the same boat.

Forgive me if i am wrong, but it seems to me that it is not really a free month of game time. You are still paying for the month, just in the same way.

You're right, yes. But the regular edition doesn't come with it.

You know, as I pointed out earlier in the thread... (And may as well point out again.)

EVERY new purchaser of a full collection of CoH gets 30 days free time. This isn't anything NEW. The only difference THIS TIME is that apparently that can be applied to anyone... if you just wait a little longer.

It's a matter of preference really. If you are like me and want DP early then pre-order, if you want to save that extra money go ahead and wait. I have no problem paying a little extra having DP early. It just depends on your personal preference. There is nothing wrong with either decision. My point is that there is no reason to get on here and whine about it like some people already have and have been attacking others about it.

Compare it like this:
When new PS3 games come out you have a decision to make:
A. Buy the brand new game you want for $50-$60 a pop
B. Rent the game
C. Wait till the game is $30-$40 and they have made a sequel. Not always true about the sequel though lol

In all of these instances you get the same game just at a different time. You pay more depending on when you buy it. When you buy it depends on how bad you want to play said game. Some people prefer to dish out $50-$60 a pop for games, but for most I wait till they are under $40, but for very rare occasions I have bought them brand new.

For COH, DP is worth the extra dough for me, but may not be for you, which is totally fine! I don't mind spending an extra $15 dollars for early access, if that is even the end result.

I know this is not an exact comparison, but it is the best I can think of at the moment lol

Soooooo when can we pre-order seeing as the double XP weekend is well a few days aways and you clearly said we would be able to do the double pistols during this double XP time.

Double exp hasn't started, so my guess would be sometime between now and then. Probably tomorrow.

Everyone has different situations and to me ranting about how little money you have and telling us about your credit is just ridiculous. I am broke half the time, but I dont tell the rest of the world my troubles. The main arguement is, if you can afford it, play it...if you cant, don't.
