Things you avoided playing (Until recently)
Only thing I didn't play until "recently" was Claws on a Scrapper. I've been playing Scrappers for the past five years and have many combinations of everything, but Claws somehow fell through until I gave them to a new character sort of as a chance concept evolution. That was a few months ago.
Beyond that, Stalkers. Didn't play them until they were fixed to be actually worth playing. Right now I have two, but with plans for more. I DID play Blasters, but before the Defiance changes, I only had one and even that one wasn't worth playing. Since then, I've gotten two to 50 and one into the 40s and there are a few I'm forgetting. Beyond that, what I don't play, I never will. I don't play Tankers, because they don't do enough damage. I don't play Defenders, Controllers and Corrupers and I never will. I tried plying a Kheldian, but that didn't work. I tried playing a Dominator, but that failed. I haven't tried a villain Epic, and I likely never will. No real reason to, as I don't enjoy Arachnos powers to begin with. |

Masterminds.
I rolled a few over the years but just couldn't get into them. I'd get into the teens and just move on to play something else and never come back.
I finally got a merc/dark to level 50 on the last double XP weekend and have been playing it at different levels, learning some bind tricks, and giving him some set bonuses. It's grown on me a little bit and I can see how another primary like thugs or bots might be even more fun.
The only thing I don't have a 50 of is a warshade. I have PB and a crab and a fortunata, but no WS. I guess I should make one for completeness sake.

more stats on the All huntsman team and a very major factor.
While an all huntsman team lacks -regen when dealing with AVs (though you would think +240% damage all the time would be more than enough to counter AV regen) just incase that wasn't enough if they take the two powers with -res in it they top out at a whopping -320% damage resistance which is one of the two effects AVs offer no resistance to and is basically enough to floor any AVs resistance.
I once did a 7 man VEAT +1 Bots/Traps mastermind Renault Strikeforce (was a mixture of Crabs, Banes Night widows and Fortunatas) which resulted in the entire team being hit a grand total of about three times (the Leviathan managed to hit one of the Crab spiders abd the mass of coralax managed to get past the defenses) during the entire final encounter with the Leviathan eye and the mass coralax that spawned.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
A large group of friends is actually interesting in doing an ALL VEAT LRSF just to see how things would go.
Even if the rule of "if an AV has 100% resistance to it, -res debuffs don't work on that resistance" an 'even split' VEAT team of 2 of each of the branches has enough non-smashing/lethal damage to usually make up for it (All night Widow claw attacks deal toxic DoT as do 90% of Bane Spider attacks, Fortunatas are all psi damage which almost no AV has any decent resistance to and Crabs deal Smashing/energy or have a toxic effect on their ranged).
Masterminds. I have a couple stalled in the teens, both with concepts that I absolutely love, but I just can't get into the playstyle. Maybe it'll be better when each of them have enough powers from their secondaries that I won't feel like I'm just standing around all the time.

Stalkers. I just don't know what it is, but even with the new buffs, they just feel like pseudo-scrappers to me with a few neat tricks.
I also tend to avoid matching sets and any FOTM, mostly although that is changing. Since my experience on a concept team, I love my Fire/Fire Blaster and I rolled my SS/Fire Brute a few years ago without knowing their position as 'farmer's favourite' (tm) on the red side.
So when I came up with a new character the other day and realised with a sinking heart that the appropriate choice of powersets for her was the ever popular Fire/Kinetics Controller, I just groaned out loud.
Still struggling with VEATs too but I think that's just a matter of time.

Funny. I couldn't get into Claws until recently, either. It was the metal rake scraping the cement sound effects that always put me off of the set. The funny part is that you don't play VEATs, but it was my Widow that made me reconsider Claws. After playing her up to the 30s, I rolled a rough hero analogue, a Claws/Willpower Scrapper, and have loved playing her.

Ironically, I'm using the Legacy Claws anyway, as they're the only big claws on the female model. I love BABs and all, but when he caused weapons to scale DOWN with model, he killed a lot of the fun in weapon using, and he's still reluctant to give us large weapons.

There are things I have avoided, and continue to avoid.
Any of the Archery, Trick Arrow, Devices, Assault Rifle type ATs. They don't seem....super.
CoV; that whole concept of using special talents/gifts to help myself at other's expense is a fail for me. I will certainly be exploring the various ATs there with GR however.
Ice/Stone ATs: the UGLY UGLY..... GEEZ that is UGLY......look is a barrier. Why even bother with a suit in the costume creator. Those Ice defenders that toss out the random blocks of Ice.......GRRRRRR. I did finally try an Ice/Ice Blaster tho, he is pretty cool (pun intended).
Sonics: their power effects give me a noggin ache in short order so I just avoid em.
Kheldian forms: they work fine...as intended.... they are just.....UGLY.. see above. I have gotten a WS mostly solo to 50 as a human only, and another in a steady duo up to 47. I also have two PBs in steady duos climbing the ranks. I really like human only PBs, just a tad of mez protection and they would be my easy favorite AT, but Combat Jump, Acrobatics, Increased Density, etc etc help enough to make em fun.
Empathy: great to have around.....don't want to be one.
Bubbler: great to have around... don't want to be one ever again....my first 50 was a bubbler.
Well, let's see...
I used to play almost exclusively Tanks, but these days I don't play any at all. My only remaining Tank is sitting lonely and neglected on the Liberty server.
I never used to make Blasters because both my brother and father would play them all the time. Now I play them quite a bit, although this may be because neither my brother or father play the game much any more.
And I've never been able to play Brutes. I really like the powers and the Rage, but every time I roll one up I get bored and do something else. >_<

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I'm big on melee, but never played katana until very recently. I renamed my first main and made her into kat/will.
I play the "rebranded" 50 more, and this "re-powered" version as well - it was win-win. Thanks for the transfer tokens, devs!

HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
Villains. Started out about a year ago and gravitated towards blasters & scrappers because I like the high damage. Tried a few bad guys but couldn't really get into it. Found it hard to adopt the whole "bad guy" mindset.
Since then, I rolled up a brute because I was intrigued by the capabilities of the class. All I can say is, "Wow!" The durability and offensive punch is incredible. A brute is like the illegitimate love child of a tanker and scrapper, but on steroids.
I'm still not comfortable with storylines that call for the harming of innocents, but I realize that it's just a game and not a real-life choice. And when Going Rogue comes online, it'll become even less of an issue. Am now planning to create a corruptor and/or stalker.
Ultimately, I expect to have alternate builds for my villains: One will be a "pure" villain so I can sample the story content redside. The other will be for Going Rogue, which will allow me to enjoy the villain archetypes without the moral baggage.
I wasn't expecting all the feedback on my SoA comments. I actually made the character to be a Crab, but ended up enjoying him as a Wolf Spider. I'm going to track down a Huntsman guide and look it over, and I'll probably end up respecing him into a Huntsman.
Blasters and Masterminds.
Played an Elec/Elec Blaster to 38. I couldn't stand it. It felt very weak compared to the others in my character stable.
My most beloved character is my Fire/Fire Dominator, and every time I start to plan out a Blaster, I will inevitably compare them to her and find that they come up short. I'll probably find the Blaster build for me eventually - I'd really like to do a Fire/Fire Blaster at some point, and will probably try that out when Going Rogue comes out. In fact, most of the characters I have planned for GR are Blasters. For now, though, my Fire Dom scratches my damage-dealer itch just fine.
I also don't really enjoy MMs. Played a Necro/Dark to 41 waaaay back when CoV was young, then just lost interest. Every attempt at an MM since then has failed to keep my attention. The playstyle is too slow and risk-free for me to enjoy. Which is a shame, because Masterminds are an incredibly powerful AT. I'm trying to get into a Necro/Pain MM at the moment.
The Ballad of Iron Percy
Scrappers believe it or not (I think its 'cause I'm such a HUGE Wolverine fanboi and just could not live up to the uberness of "The Wolverine")...but now I have a roster full, even rolled my namesake Fire Chief (who was a blaster and my first love for a AT) into a fire/shields scrapper (but still have not done a claws one). Soooo yeah scrappers (or YAY scrappers)!!!
