At SDCC2009 I was talking with one of the devs about the vet rewards, and he said that they stopped doing costume pieces because it was putting them to far out of reach of many players, and they wanted costume pieces to be something everyone would eventually be able to get. That would also include new capes and auras.

I did make an interesting suggestion that he did seem to like. That was that instead of giving out exclusive costume pieces as vet rewards, they would add new craftable costume/capes/auras and the vet reward would be getting those pieces unlocked automatically. Yea I know, plenty of people have friends or connections that could get them any invention costume piece for any character they have. But sometimes it's a hassle I'd rather not have to bother with.

Sounds like a mix of my C and D. Not only do you get to pick your rewards, but over time the choices available would increase for lower-time veterans. Instead of a new reward only being available to someone who's played for 72 months, the new reward is tossed somewhere into the 6 or 12 month pool.

So while someone who's played for 72 months would have more extra stuff than someone who's only played for 12, if a "new" vet reward, like say City Traveler or the inspiration bonus, comes out, someone can get that as their 12 month reward and not have to wait another 5 years.

I'm just pleased that this was announced. This means there's a patch coming. It's been so long, Paragon Studios. Please, let me see the announcement that my 'Apply' bar will have purpose again!

Also Vet reward additions usually get implemented with a content patch. So let's keep our fingers crossed!

Great, wonderfull, amazing, awesome ....

now can you actually get someone to fix the awarding of the Vets as I have now been waiting over a month for resolution on my 57 month one..... Been waiting for 3 weeks for a reply on this ;o((((

Also a bit annoyed that people don't like the fact that some people hav ebeen here sinvce the game started and they want the same as them ... personally what a load of rubbish... these are probably the same people who started with WOW or something instead of COH .. so why dumb down the rewards for those of us who have been here for 5 years just to keep newbies happy?

Are your contact details upto date ?
Have you gone to the support site and checked the status under 'my stuff' ?

Given the times typically seen reported (2-3 days), something sounds odd.

They fixed my Vet badge award in about a day, so I would agree something is very wrong.

Same here, I should have earned Allegiant (57 months) around December 18th, but it didn't happen... I waited 2 weeks thinking they could be busy uploading the Winter Event, and watching that there were no news, I finally sent a petition ingame and the following day I got a response saying that there was a technican problem and they gave me my vet. reward.

Make veteran rewards (at least all the ones besides the generic ones, like earning merits or a costume token) into choice tokens where you can choose a reward from a specific pool of rewards. Then add tokens at regular intervals, and add additional choices to the pools at the same time.

So perhaps at 15 month intervals everyone would get a melee attack veteran reward token which they could use to get a veteran melee attack. But at the beginning of time, perhaps there were only two such attacks, and you could pick one of them. Down the road, when the 30th month reward came along, instead of making a whole new reward unavailable to new players, you make it *another* melee attack reward token and add one or two new attacks to the veteran melee attack pool. So now the pool has four attacks and 30 month veterans get two of them. But the 15 month veterans that reach 15 months at that time will still have all four powers available to them; they just only get one choice to start.

If we do the same thing to veteran ranged attacks, costume parts, and all the other "unique" vet rewards, then it will always be true that the longer vets have *more* rewards, but all new players will have *access* to any of them in relatively short amounts of time. You are never introducing a reward that only six year veterans have any chance of getting (usually: this doesn't preclude that option if you really want to), but you can still introduce new rewards and you can still reward longer term veterans.

I approve of the idea, but I'd rather they left all the rewards* in a single pool. It's simpler and, since having all of the rewards at once isn't a balance concern, I see no real reason to segregate the options.

* That is, all the non-cyclical, non-badge rewards.

Plus, it would have the added advantage of heading off the people posting that the new rewards suck.

I think kviri has the right idea. [EDIT: Upon catching up, Arcanaville's Vet token system sounds even better.]

From a badging standpoint, if they were going to drop anything from the system, I'd like to see the badges go away. Find a different means of distributing the rewards so people aren't losing badge progress every time a new reward is announced (since a lot of people who badge haven't been here since the beginning).

On-Topic, the new rewards sound good.

It's on you, not CS, to keep your ticket hot. If it's not a priority for you, it shouldn't be one for them.

1. Would still like a badge that unlocks contact to call them earlier
2. I like Archana's idea despite she still "thinks her's is the best." Well duh!
3. Selectable perma day job (PvE only)
4. Signature power (yeah, dreaming, I know).

The "token" idea is a very good one that Arcanaville suggested.

But it could be very frustrating to longer time veterans if newer players get a choice they not only didn't get at the time, but have to wait another year or two for.

So it needs this extra expansion:

- create and offer two new "melee attack powers" similar to ghost axe and sands of mu
- give a 'token' for one of these powers as a veteran reward for 80 months or something like that. Also give a 'token' for one of these powers in place of the original 'ghost axe or sands of mu' power and, in place of the veteran reward for 'pick another of the unselected ones' offer a choice of token for a melee power, or the untaken ranged power.
- when that starts being available, also offer a 'veteran power respec' that lets people re-choose their veteran powers, in case they want the new one instead of the old one they had before.

The same thing can't be done for costume selections, unfortunately. People might already have them on characters; you can't easily revoke costume options... I like the idea of making all future veteran reward costume parts also obtainable another way on a per character basis by invention recipes or the like. Another option is veteran costume options being very minor variations on existing costume parts - slightly different pattern of rocket boots, existing hats with variants of the hair styles, belt/tail combo options; or (she said half kidding) costume options that are already veteran only because of their ancientness of availability, like the Malaise pants pattern or the Longbow costume pattern

69 month seems okay, but the 72 month seems to be continuing with a disturbing trend of offering more and more benefits that effect the actual game up as vet rewards. That's a slippery slope.

Never hopefully. Its bad enough that new players have to wait years just to get access to special powers and costume pieces.

Fluff vetrewards such as respecs, character slots, and bonuses to inspirations and storage seem much more reasonably fair to everyone, since they can either already be purchased or earned through ingame grinding. (minus the inspiration bonus)

Although I wouldn't mind if they made another perm temp vetpower as long as it could now be re-obtainable through ouroboros flashbacks for non vets.

Yay a Additional Character Slot! Do you think you can give more then one? Or something better then

Respecs
Additional Character Slot
6 Reward Merits ? The Inspirations bonus is ok... I guess. But I have enough respecs, and I can get merits. I have enough tailor tickets too.

The best reward we have gotten is 60, 63, and all the outfits. I like the powers but they drain a lot of energy, and I can't change that : D

But I guess I want all the good stuff be in the issues so I am going to shut up now : P good work by the way.

Thanks,
I would rather have a bonus to AE mission memory capacity, this way a vet has a nice reward and a way to give back to the player base :-)
