Heh. Good list. But they left out some others (then again, if they had put them in, it would have no longer been a Top 10.
Retarded, not Retarted
Which, not wich
Ridiculous, not Rediculous
I know I had a bunch more, but of course, can't remember them at the moment.
Oh there are plenty of them that were left out.
Could have is the correct usage instead of could of. That's a bit more of a personal gripe
I just thought it was a neat reference guide for those who are unsure.
Should this have gone into the Player Guides, d'you think?
I have the sudden urge to go drinking with a panda.

I'm surprised "rediculous" didn't make the list. This one has be boring holes in the backs of my eyes for years, and it will never stop!
Also, there is something about using baloney/bologna to describe nonsense that I'm not quite sure about.

In this game, one of the greatest spelling villains that I notice is the word villain.
When you say 'villian,' you are not referring to those enemies on the street who run amok and cause chaos, you are referring to the aliens who live on planet Villia!
to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

I'm showing my parent's ages, now.
And.. it's not "cannon". It's 'Canon' as in 'Canonical', or "Something that is accepted as fact without it needing to be proven."
The game's underlying story, the lore, is known as 'Canon' because according to the people who wrote the game, "This is what we based everything on. It should not be meddled with or contradicted." Compare to religious writings, Scripture, dogma, et cetera.
I'm sure there's a ton of other homonyms that get blatantly misused... all hail the spellchecker, which lets people get away with this sort of thing as long as a word is spelled correctly, no matter how egregiously mis-used....
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
I like to use could've, would've, should've.

It's been awhile, but you sometimes see people posting about the Rouge Isles.
The rouge aisles are where the cosmetics are, not the villains

What about "horse feathers," then?
One of the funniest boo boos I've seen was when someone on another forum referred to something he didn't like as 'a load of crock'.
Incidentally, you've correctly omitted the serial comma in the thread title. The word "and" acts as a delimiter and an additional comma would have been obnoxiously redundant. (-:

Anyway, someone has to use the extra commas left out by the people who refuse to use them at all.

Mostly because people forget the correct term is "equine" or "Pegasus", not horse, feathers. Probably the same people who confuse a winged unicorn with a pegasus.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
It's not "Could care less."
Quite frankly, if I have a reason to say it, I have no more capacity to care about the subject and "Couldn't care less."
I was actually taught in second or third grade that a list of three things should have two commas, as in "one, two, and three." I learned later that it is redundant, but have only ever had one teacher (in college) tell me that it was outright inappropriate to use the second comma.

/whereami:
I have long thought that this is caused by the contraction could've. It sounds similar to could of so, someone may use that trying to spell it phonetically.

That's 'alicorn', thankyouverymuch!
What about for depicting accents in dialogue?

I actually have no hard and fast rules on comma useage, and as English is a foreign language to me, I tend to apply my own native comma rules to the English language... With mixed results.

Hmm, I've never heard of "alicorn" before. The only single word I've ever seen to describe a winged unicorn before was "hypacorn".
Also, if it comes from "alae" (Latin for wings, IIRC), shouldn't it be "alacorn" or something?
Storm Summoning is great because it makes you better than everyone else in the game. - Camma
Knockback is mitigation. It won't be removed just because meleers ***** and moan. - Chaos Creator
I have no idea what the point of this was, but "6 types of crappy hugs" was HILARIOUS!
"Alot" should be a word.
There is no "wat", it's either "what" or "watt".
Ur is an ancient and long lost city. i'm not quite sure why some people feel compelled to blame it for things happening today. "thats ur fault" (Let's not worry about the lack of punctuation or capitalization that seems to follow that city around.)
"I" as a personal pronoun should always be capitalized. There are some neurotics that do not for reasons related to convoluted religious "logic", but in my case i do it as an affectation and literary quirk.
Also, a question mark, "?", is useful for letting people know that you're asking a question.
Plus all the grammatical errors in this post that weren't referenced at all.

A friend posted a useful link on Facebook to this website, which explains the use of English language so much betterer than could I ().
