So where's the RP now?

I'm not especially new to CoX, but I have been gone for several months. I presume this is the still the RP server. Can anyone recommend some good, active SGs? And is there a global RP channel? I tried joining one before I left, but no one ever approved me so I could participate.

EDIT because I apparently wasn't clear enough. I'm not new to CoX. I'm not afraid to RP with people. I'm just asking if anyone knows which SGs are active so I don't get into one that's dead.

RP happens wherever you make it.

The RP is in my pants.

Unless I'm not wearing pants.

Seriously, though, Eat_Me is right.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

On that note, I want to thank Vanessa Knighte for letting me lurk around and try to get un-rusty.

In other words, it's still dead? Before I left, everyone I knew was abandoning the game to go back to WoW. I could not find an active SG, and believe me, I looked. I joined well over dozen only to be confronted by lists full of people who hadn't logged on in months and the occasional other member who was more interested in chatting OOC or outright ignoring me. And Pocket D was...weird. Just weird. Trying to create my own RP is all well and good, but not when there's no one around to play with. Maybe you enjoy talking to yourself, but I don't.

Doom!

While I may not enjoy talking to myself, I am almost certain it would be preferable to RP'ing with lazy people who expect me to do all the work and entertain them.

It's around, you just gotta look. I run an RP SG, it's inactive but it's there.

Shawn Kougi runs Powers Incorporated, and informal RP SG.

I have come across a few others but they tend to be pretty exclusive and shy away from people they don't know or haven't heard of.

Like the previous people recommended, RP all the time, RP when you PuG, RP when you chill, that is the best way to find and RP SG with like minded people.

You pay to play. Having fun is ok. Kill Skuls or kill Crey. Hunt at night or in the day. Black or white or shades of grey. Play it your way. We have no say.

Ok, lets try this...

Pocket D is what you make of it. Its a nice spot to meet people and maybe make some friends for RPing with while doing some RP stuff. The Cape shows are usually pretty normal outside of Coz and Myself (yes I tend to be a little bit on the silly side, imagine).

There are still a lot of active RP SGs out there, both Red and Blue side. Some of them will post here, some won't. The Cape also runs ads for SGs looking for members.

Then there are events such as the Winter Gala coming up which represent prime opprotunities to RP. I also find some nice RP pickup groups.

Its there, you just need to make it happen from your end and not give up.

Ascension's phone calls are classic Virtue server RP and yes they were just a guy talking to himself.

Repeatedly.

In public.

My advice is to go to Virtueverse, and look up supergroups. The sight is entirely written by and for RPers, and features articles on player toons and SGs/VGs. Most SGs don't say know to a potential new member, so long as you meet their requirements and general theme (i.e. you aren't trying to play a Punisher homage in a Silver Age themed SG). Most have links to a website where you can better gage activity (My main's SG has about two posts a day on the forum) and offers further instructions for joining the group.

I know about VV. It's why I was able to find over a dozen SGs to join before I left. In my experience, they all misrepresented how active they were. I'd get told "Oh, well, we have X number of people on just now." Get there, and indeed they do...for about an hour until whatever monthly RP event they were doing ended, and then I never saw but one or two of them again. That's why I wanted to ask on the board here. Sure, you can still be misrepresenting things, but I feel my chances are better.

EDIT: Well, not all. I shouldn't say that. I'm just still frustrated.

I'm fairly new to RPing, but I found the Pocket D to be rather helpful.

I mean, it might not be the best place for anything but casual RP, but it helped me find people to RP with outside of the D.
Plus you can go there and see people from S/VGs that are active. (God knows how many Abyss Empire people you'll see in one night...)

Most RP SG/VGs tend to stick to themselves for any one of a number of reasons. I'm currently trying to break the mold a bit to get RP out in the open. The University Park in Cap near the base portal is a nice spot. CoH, I know not what to tell you. The light over there is blinding to me to the point that I limit my time in shiny happy people land.

Pocket D is... unique. Just avoid anything with cat ears and a tail or resembling a succubus and you should be fine. Approach plain clothes, John Smith named characters with caution. And always try to listen in a conversation before jumping in. To this day I'm amazed at the number of players who go to a public zone like D, park in some high traffic area to start gabbing away about whathaveyou, and then get annoyed and run off when someone else starts talking to them.

The VirtueRPConnect thread is a good place to find other RPers, even if it is overrun with the goody goody types.

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

When i first migrated to Virtue (October 2008-ish) i spent some time looking through VV as well, and just as i had decided on an RP VG i came across another post here on the forums and went with that one instead - which i'm still part of today.
Activity tends to go up and down, there is a coregroup that runs it made up of people that have been around for as long as the game has and several close to it.
I generally don't advertise but here's the link to the website anyway http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.asp...7&TabID=462067 (or alternately www.sinenterprises.com it has music! )
Pocket D serves well in the function it was designed for; it's a nightclub - though occasionally you come across more serious RP as well and meet people you like. (It's very much a hit and miss thing, when i was new to the server i didn't like it. Then after a return visit to the D a good half year later i started to have fun there. Though i'm still not a regular by a longshot.)

Where is the roleplay?

On teams.

In the streets.

On the ski slopes of the Winter Chalet.

In the dark, fetid corners of Pocket D.

At the Black Market.

In the middle of a zombie invasion.

In broadcast.

In your head.

At your fingertips.

I just RP constantly in PuGs, Teams, standing around and making random observations, you name it. Just RP constantly everywhere you go, you'll meet people. Give it some time. Have fun with it, sometimes you pull people in a group who are not RP into it. I do, you can too.

Windwolf, now with increased levels of wind and wolf!

Virtue, baby, 'cause I R P.

With the ski challet open, you'll probably see more role-players there taking in the locale.

Blue: Terra Skye, Piper McCormick, Urban Shaman, Umbral Squall, Nosila Marie, Shava, Subtronic, Invisible Osprey, Violet Vision, Master of Moonshadow

Red: S1lv3r Bull3t, Skilljack, Shamanic Steel, Mallory Madsen, Miss Mao, Lightweb, Mad Maenad, Deviant Red

Praetorian: Magnetic Mole, Ljosalfar

All on Virtue

RP has never been dead for me, but I lucked out in having a good, active RP SG. We even use the MA to make weekly plots to run, and then TFs are run in character over the weekends.

Yep, quite a few VGs that do that.

Just saw your edit.

Sorry about that.

I can't really recommend any supergroups for you myself Ravenlord. I tend to miss out on any significant in-group roleplay and just end up catching bits and pieces of casual stuff.

I think you might have some success with whichever supergroup Ellis belongs to, as they sound like a decent bunch.

Apart from that... *shrugs*

No worries. I have also seen enough newbies showing up with "Where's the RP? Wah, I can't find it because I haven't made the effort to look! Someone hold my hand!" In retrospect, I probably could have worded my topic title differently to avoid that particular brand of kneejerk.
