Bases are outdated

The VG I'm in has:
* 6 inspiration bins that I stock regularly for people of all levels; one is entirely special inspirations (EoE, presents)
* 6 salvage bins which are usually full but get used frequently; one is entirely rare salvage
* 3 enhancement bins; I recently added over 100 level 25 IOs for lowbies
* Invention table
* A vault
* Teleporters to every zone

It's even an RP base, and we still get use out of it constantly. There's always at least one person hanging out there, and RP is frequent. Our coalition has like a million people in it (I get a full page every time I click a portal). And our base has cool stuff in it. Sometimes coalition people even drop in to check out our base design. Heck, I even have screens of our base designer's Christmas tree (with ornaments), presents, and stockings over the fireplace that they just added.

It's only useless if you don't use it for the dozens of things you can use bases for. Many of those functions are either crazy-convenient or even not possible anywhere else.

Technically you can get everywhere by walking, so there's no need to have Ouroboros, Wentworth, mission TP, or trains. Right?

Your question isn't obvious, because this is a tacked-on afterthought of a "question." If this qualified, pretty much every thread on the forums would fall under this section. Question section is for things like "I have a base but I don't know what the point is. What all can you do with a base?" Not "You're all morons and nobody uses bases. Agree?"

Out of the one person I spoke to, we both agreed that you're actually a chimpanzee typing hamfistedly on a computer, who is translating what he hears a parrot repeat. The parrot heard someone say, one time, "Nobody I know uses a base," and then proceeded to repeat it ad nauseum.

Since 100% of the people I spoke with (1 out of 1) concluded this, it's probably true. Follow-up question: Thoughts?

Good advice. Have you considered taking this yourself? From your post history so far, you're often overly-aggressive, prone to fake fact-sputtering, and just barely over the illiteracy line. Including this post where you offer a broad insult of moron while using the wrong form of your/you're.

Out of the people I have spoken to, EVERYONE uses bases! Do my resources trump yours, or do we need to battle to the death first?

Bases ARE outadated...because they haven't recieved any TLC for too long. The editor is starting to show it's age, the item limit is starting to actually matter, and be a hinderance, the tech sections STILL have far fewer items than the Arcane sections do (Annoyance: Much) and...yeah. Bases need some updating.

But speak for yourself when you say people dont use them. A lot of people on Union and other servers disagree with you.

Wow...just...wow. How long did you think about this idea before you posted it, out of curiosity? Nerf Ouro portals to make up for your perceived lack in bases. Um, no. Just no. Bases do need more functionality in some things, but I love my base dearly and use it frequently...teleporters included. If you want someone to use something more, you don't do it by limiting their choices in other areas. You make the thing you're having problems with more appealing.

Not to mention the fact that your idea would severely limit travel options for people that don't have access to a base. Not everyone wants to join an SG, or go through the work to make a private SG base viable. Which is just fine...that's their choice, and shouldn't be taken away from them.

You want others to think before they post? It may be a good idea if you do so first.

*nod* Give us some tech walkways already. Building everything out of desks is getting old. (And I still want an explanation as to why the copper alembic tank is 5000 prestige, but the steel alembic tank is 100 prestige...)

1. I'd settle for getting that white floor tilw next to the safe reskinned with a top and bottom.

2. Because copper has more salvage value when you recycle it silly. Steel is cheap, and often is left to rust.

You see, there's also the large copper lab tank and the large steel lab tank which cost exactly the same amount of prestige (1000), but then, to confuse things even further, there's the small steel lab tank (5000 prestige) and the small copper lab tank (100 prestige). I think someone got loopy with the amounts of Prestige some of these decorative items cost....

And yeah, reskinning the floor tile would solve some problems, but I wouldn't mind seeing it in a couple other shapes and sizes if they did that.
