the healing power of boobies ...
reply to the thead or not... either way.. ive finally met my goal of posting a thread with the title " the healing power of boobies ..." in it..
*makes small check on box in bucket list*...
This one ranks pretty up there... the praetorian version of Ms. Liberty comes to earth and decides to take
up pole danceing at a local strip club, (or maybe it was Pocket D ) much to the chagrin of her counterpart.
Ahh boobies they can heal and cure (oh wait that's only when their wrapped in bacon) and so much more...
I'd write a sonnet to them if I were more creative.
P.S. Gratz on scratching another off the list?
one of the things I was most impressed with, during the time when we got issues of the city of heros comics mailed to us.. is the great amount of perfect err... female assets drawn within...
what is your favorate city of heros comic what features such great assets .. and how dose it compare to another artist work that also is known for great portrayals of the same subject matter?.. |
(And yeah, that's Pocket D btw--if you look closely, you can pick out DJ Zero in the crowd)
Frank Cho and Dave Stevens are right up there as well, along with newer guys like Stanley Lau, Chester Ocampo, and Warren Louw. Obviously, it's quite difficult to draw beautiful women and a very specialized skill at that, so there just aren't a lot of artists operating at that top tier level.
This is pretty subjective, eye-of-the-beholder stuff of course, but 2 million+ pageviews each on DeviantArt seem to confirm a certain level of popularity.

18 would have to do it for me.
As for my favorites? Well, I've always been a big Bettie Page fan, so of course Dave Stevens is at the top of my list. Adam Hughes does great work as well, but the BP stuff puts Dave over the top.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
I like Ed Benes, but hey he's Brazilian, hot women are in his blood.
Link removed -Mod08 , yeesh he's good!

Not that I can direct link to her site, but my favorite living pin-up artist is DEFINITELY Olivia (De Berardinis).
She's the current pin-up artist for Playboy, and I think she quite spectacularly took up the mantle from the legendary Alberto Vargas.
I don't know if we were talking about just "comic" pin-up art or what, but Olivia wins. She wins big-time. She's done art of Dita Von Teese.... if that's not the most ultimate meeting of talents EVAR, I don't know what is.

Adam Hughes, to me, is the greatest pinup artist of the modern era, and second only to Gil Elvgren in the all-time rankings of artistic portrayals of beautiful fantasy women. He's certainly one of my biggest influences, and when I had the chance to do the cover for Issue 18, that's definitely the sort of material I had in mind--equal parts sexy and fun.

I agree, I really like Adam's artwork. All of the women in his artwork are individuals, each with their own attributes. I like that he doesn't just plant Triple-D's on all of them. His 'Women of DC' is a perfect example.

I also wish I could afford those statues based on his cover illustrations, or even all of the mini busts he designed.
2 words..........Jim.........Lee
Jim Lee is also on the aforementioned "artists I wish I could draw like" list.
Yup lots of the big pin up artists have been listed, Adam Hughes, Frank Cho, Jim Lee, Ed Benes. I've always like Marc Silvestri, Michael Turner, Eric Basaldua (eBas), Andy Park, Joe Benitez, Greg Land, and J Scott Campbell.
As far as notable pages from the comics, there's a lot of them for me, both the Top Cow and Blue King runs. The issue for me that I love is the one that featured just about every trainer/signature NPC in the game, along with a lot of featured fan chars like Bayani. And of course there's always the infamous Sister Psyche bubble bath page

Slag Heap: Why you hurt Guardian!? Guardian no hurt you!
Issue #11, Page 21 or so
I remember after I shortly met David at SDCC and discovered his website and store of original art, I think that page was already sold. I don't think I could've afforded it anyway but I had to see if it was available. I think I remember that issue had a lot of forum comments/posts on it when it came out. heh

Jim Lee should draw sister psyche o_O
I've always enjoyed Alex Ross, and Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell. I'd love to see one of them do something CoH.

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
I too have to say that Adam Hughes is a fantastic woman-maker. And Frank Cho - I think in many ways they're two peas in a pod. I like Frank's more loose, natural style.
I also have always been very, very fond of Patrick Nagel, but he never did comics so much as prints and lithos, and most of his women weren't hugely endowed at all (perhaps why I loved them) they all look very, very strong. And if anyone needs a nagel print I have 5 available but only 3 can be shipped easily... I hate having to sell my babies.

That's when the in-house comic went from being horribly drawn to whoribly drawn.

Ed Benes scares me because I think he's going to slide into WTFville and end up with lopsided faces and weird art crutches like Michael Turner, or (to the nth degree) Rob Liefield.
He hasn't yet, but the style is very similar.
