So, in THAT case, let me say that you were the best artist of the CoH Comic run, and that the group portrait of the Vindicators was simply outstanding.

So get the Powers That Be to resurrect the CoH Comic--- you draw and let Troy Hickman do the writing.

THAT would be something!

PS-If you need help on this, who should we nudge to make it so?

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

If you ever nudge them enough, I'm along for the ride.

Regarding artists ON THE LADIES, in addition to many of the folks mentioned above, I'd say George Perez, Art Adams, Mike Kaluta, my buddy Rodolfo Migliari, and, while probably not many folks consider him a cheesecake artist, Don Heck's women always struck me as schwing-worthy.

(And yeah, that's Pocket D btw--if you look closely, you can pick out DJ Zero in the crowd)

Frank Cho and Dave Stevens are right up there as well, along with newer guys like Stanley Lau, Chester Ocampo, and Warren Louw. Obviously, it's quite difficult to draw beautiful women and a very specialized skill at that, so there just aren't a lot of artists operating at that top tier level.

This is pretty subjective, eye-of-the-beholder stuff of course, but 2 million+ pageviews each on DeviantArt seem to confirm a certain level of popularity.
I agree about your pinup choices "most definitely Adam Hughes" but dont forget folks like Terry Dodson, the Udon folks, Travis Charest (for the realistic sexy look), and Benes to name a few.

Thanks for posting those. This guy basically perfected the modern pinup--any artist trying to draw the female form should really study him carefully. Taschen Publishing released an AWESOME hardcover of Elvgren's work a while back, and it's not hard to track down. Well worth the $50 or whatever they're asking for it.

I like all the artists you've cited--quite a bit actually, but to me they're just not in the same league when it comes to drawing women. Again, it's very subjective, but none of these guys communicate the same level of personality, storytelling, or sheer sexiness that I see in a Hughes or Manara pinup. For me, those characters seem to live and breathe, whereas lesser artists rely on bland, expressionless faces and stock poses meant to show off T and A. There's a lot more to a great pinup than that, which is why I have to give Hughes and co. the edge.

Speaking of Manara, have you seen the video there is of him drawing? I can't post it because it's certainly nsfw, (nor do I remember what it's called to look it up) but he is simply AMAZING. No sketching, no long-thought-out linework, just... he starts drawing and then pretty soon there is a beautiful woman right there on the paper. And he skips around on it, maybe there are faint sketch lines we can't see - but man... just... lovely work. I'm glad he does pron

I think I found my wife's Xmas present, she loves this style, and tries to emulate some of that retro feel in her own work. She loves good reference material, and now I can tell her it's got "the Nak" seal of approval. And the best part, I can borrow it...

Okay, probably not, since Turner's dead.
Benes was awful, a Mike Deodato clone, in the darkest 1990s. The first thing I can remember him drawing was the Artemis: Requiem mini, which was full of Image style mannerisms.

Was never fond of Turner; I saw him as continuing in that vein, a slightly later version of Liefeld or J. Scott Campbell. Benes' more recent work manages to get a lot closer to making the women look human, and if you want to draw sexy that's where you need to begin from, IMO.

again liefeld is being mentioned in the same sentance as imo some quality artist's. You may not like Turner or campbell's style, but for the love of god. No one deserves comparison to liefeld. infact, Next person I see mention liefeld is getting there main drawn being ***** by some manner of marsupial

aaah Boobies.....

One of my favorite topics and it involves art, one of my other favorite topics. I mean, rednames, local celebrities(sup Troy! ), boobies and artz.....

I concur with a lot of these suggestions but my favorites would be:

1. Adam Hughes. I mean seriously...

2. Ed Benes. (High Fives LJ)

3. Alex Ross.

Jim Lee is up there but i wouldn't put him in my personal top 3 for boobage

By the way, my name is TA and I approve of this thread!

Not sure I would put Benes as much as I love him, in the same boat as Hughes and Ross... And my personal taste is Ross first for sheer audacity to use watercolor and only watercolor to make such remarkable work. I love Hughes, but sometimes his subject matter design is hit and miss with me, although overall his style is incomparable.

What I love about Benes is his inking, and the weight of his muscle work. Yes his women are hot, but overall he can draw, and and he can tell a decent story, visually. As Inkers go though, I love David Finch and Lenil Francis Yu, two very different and distinct styles. Again not so much for their female boobage rendering, but their versatility, and no one draws black blood like Finch.

Oh. I thought we were ranking artists who draw the best boobs.....

If we are talking favorite artists it's a whole different story.

He's not usually associated with comics, but as an artist I find his work to be incredible (especially in regards to assets)

Alberto Ruiz-Diaz.

Certainly NSFW.

there's still a TWO-click rule on this board for such links.

I find it interesting that the majority of your posts have been complaining about the two-click rule and railing against NSFW art as is. Why do you even click on the threads that have potential to be NSFW if you're just going to complain?

Report the post, and then leave.

But if he doesn't look in threads like this, he cannot become offended and therefore wouldn't feel the need to post.

Just... doesn't... make... sense!
