So, when do we actually get new Costumes?

This.

I've bought all the packs so far with the exception of the wedding pack. The reason is simple, the powers in the pack. All of the packs don't have much to offer costume wise imo but the powers you get in the packs makes it worth it to me. I've used the powers MANY times but have only used the pack costume pieces three times.

Actually, I asked jay about this - eh, maybe six months ago. The response, as I recall, was that it was a matter of time and priority - new costume pieces vs redoing a bunch of the old ones.

(I'll also second the "annoyance at replacing old pieces" - not only does it involve a tailor charge to replace the piece as *well* as color, and sometimes cause issues with the menus, but I remember *all* too well having skirts "upgraded" (gaining the molded-to-the-butt look)... and no longer being able to put patterns on them for several issues. Should be around I5 that that happened.)

Personally - I'd take "some old, some new" as far as new pieces. For instance, female-tops with skin - straps doesn't match up on the sides. (think that's the one.) It could use a little depth. Put the old in a "classic" if they want, give us a new one that matches (with a bit of depth,) and some new piece as well. Slowly work through several of the pieces that way (especially the ones with rough, jagged edges and the like.)

That kerfuffle was because the Gladiator shoulder had been in the game forever and was a low-resolution model. Then came the Imperious Strask Force with the unlockable high-resolution gladiator/roman pieces.

Well, there was no Gladiator shoulder piece to be unlocked because it already existed in the game. However, it really didn't 'go' with the hi-rez pieces. So, Jlove or Keetsie re-did the shoulder to be hi-rez so it 'goes' with the other pieces.

However, players have used that shoulder piece for years, and now the hi-rez version sticks out like a sore thumb mixed with other legacy pieces.

And this is why we players need to put up a united front: Rather than lobby for our own personal pieces and peeves, we should all be asking for all costume pieces to be revamped so they all have the same set of textures (such as cloth, shiny cloth, worn metal, polished metal, reflective, matte leather, shiny leather, etc...) in the same resolution. That would do a hundred times more good for the costuming than any new free costume set.

You pulled the words right out of my mouth!

And to be fair to people who actually LIKE some of the body-paint legacy pieces, I think it would be best to keep them BOTH. Never remove options. Just add new options!

I'm just hoping for new hairstyles. Costumes would just be a glorious bonus.

I agree. Personally, I think EVERY one of the old "tops with skin" and "bottoms with skin" options needs some kind of makeover. Add real textures and bump-mapping to them all. Just look at what they did with, say, the "Hearts" pattern, making a "Hearts Plus". Why not a "Plus" option for everything???

Only thing is, I'd like to see this done as part of the BASE game, not requiring any kind of for-pay booster/add-on like what was done with "Hearts", etc.

And please, keep the old "pattern only" pieces (e.g. the original "Hearts") for those who want them!

Much as I have lol'd at the responses to the OP, what costumes do you actually want?

Have you seen the Official Costume Request thread?

Or checked out the Going Rogue stuff?

Or was it a simple "I want stuff"?

Think I mentioned this earlier in the thread - the problem, for (and per) Jay, is time and demand. He didn't seem like he'd actually mind going back and doing them, but - well, just look at this thread, and the costume request thread, plus consider GR, the final booster pack, etc.

(Though I also think it's time for more sub-menus for some of these options - the lists are getting very long. If they could do it without breaking current costumes and/or the tailor....)

I don't know what takes Jay so long to edit existing costumes and create new ones. All he's gotta do is...

Whew, stopped myself just in time there.

I'd probably shell out the $10 for some decent hair for an African American male. I'm tired of Sullivan Washington walking around looking like either:

a.) Shaft
b.) A late's 80's rapper
c.) A 70's disco king

or

d.) like he just used 6 tubes of activator.

(Or alternatively like his barber has absolutely no idea how to do cornrows properly, I suppose.)

Well, theres always the stuff I have been harping about for years....

Flannel Shirts
Hard Hats
Overalls
Better *Casual* wear(Sorry, the old sweater is a bit bland)

And of course, there is all the cool stuff that we get to shovel out $10 for each, like the stupidly cool looking Valkyrie stuff from the Mac pack.

I actually dislike most of the valk stuff. I actually have a valkyrie character (from before the pack). I use the headwings and belt and that's it. The rest of the parts are godawful. I do like the shoulderpads, but I'm using the ninja pads on her costume now.

I have a friend who uses the valk boots at every opportunity, and I think they look hilariously bad. Pointed toes, giant rounded kneecaps. Ew. The round bulbs on hands, knees, and shoulders look like giant armored tumors.

To each their own of course. But it just irks me that If I want the Valk costume, I have to pay $10 for *just* that. At least the other costume packs come with other stuff, the Mac pack is basically the costume, and I don't remember what else... A jetpack or something?

Hell, I'd almost prefer a TRUE micro-transition store, so I could buy *just* the stuff I want for cheaper, rather than pay more for stuff I don't want.

Came with the mission transporter. Rather useful.

Of course, you can also buy the "full version," at $20, which gives you another month of time on your account as well - $25 worth for $20 ($15 for a month, $10 for the pack.)
