So true. I played WoW for a bit and it really made me appreciate my CoH travel powers.

This.

I know I have seen many presumably male posters on the boards salivating over the wiggle, but as a RL female, I just can't stand to watch my characters do this animation. Not that i was dreaming of walking, but now i highly doubt I wil *ever* use it.

I haven't checked out the Male or Huge "walk" yet because I can't create any characters with those genders because they both run like they had a stick up their tushies. <sigh>

Awww, I rather like it. I just want to know if I walk like that... ever...

I'm not a RPer, so I imagine I still won't ever use it. But the backwards-walk is rather cool-looking, I think.

I'm new-ish. Again.
@Kahzi. Pinnacle, mostly.

THAT'S IT!!!

Just give a badge for number of hours walked. Then everyone would use it.

I think they meant allowing the use of geysers . Although... geysers are affected by travel powers to some extent. In particular the forward momentum that you carry into the geyser does seem to make a difference so it's possible that walk would cause you to fall short on some jumps. I guess worst case is you just turn of walk for the geyser jumps.

(and yes, I'm ignoring the fact that there's a portal directly from FBZ to the Storm Palace since that and trains would seem to me against the spirit of the challenge).

Geysers work perfectly fine with Walk. Tested it.

For me, I'm delighted to have walking in the game. My Rorschach/Question homage is MUCH cooler walking through King's Row than when he jogged. It's better for the secret IDs as well. Now if only we could have a couple of little tweaks...

1) Leave toggles on when Walk is activated. It's fine that you can't turn them on, just don't turn them off.

2) Change the name displayed over your character to a "secret ID". You could keep the hero name in smaller text below (like a title) to prevent anonymous griefing.

Does being excessively tedious really qualify it as a challenge?

That makes it absolutely perfect for one of my characters, completely inappropriate for another (but she'll never admit it), and something the rest of them wouldn't be caught dead doing.

You could knock that out in two weeks worth of autowalk in a mission!

Let's also not forget how well balanced and smoothly the CoP runs.

Fail. Sorry. PvP in this game being 'redeemable' is the same as Walk being upgradeable. The difference would be, walk was developed largely during the developer's free/down time while PvP has been focused on more than once (it's actually had resources devoted to it) and still fails. Also, how many times have they tried to get the Cathedral of Pain to work? Does walk work one way in some zones but differently in others? Gee, I wonder what that applies to and how that's turned out.

Basically, multiple failures in one older area of gameplay that has required changes to multiple other systems are generally regarded as bigger failures than a new feature that actually appeals to a section of the playerbase without modification.

Uh, are you asserting that 'normal women' don't ever walk like that? I saw that very walk in my living room two weeks before I went to Bermuda on business. Granted, there was more twist and sway in the hips (I am so weak ) but it was very similar otherwise.

Bottom line is, if you don't like it, fine. If I don't like it, that's good too. There are folks who do and the devs can't center their efforts on placating you (or me or him or her), they have to go by communities moreso than individuals. We've seen it well over a hundred times already (trenchcoats, wings, costume pieces as loot, costume pieces as loot are 'too rare' so made more common, villain epic archetypes, powerset proliferation, new powersets in general, etc etc). Get a strong enough coalition behind you (or create a loud enough din) and attention will be paid.

I'm a normal woman, and I can walk like that - not all the time, of course, but it's not an impossible walk

And if I had superpowers, I'd certainly walk like that more often

No matter how "abnormal" the activity, its always dangerous to assert that "normal people don't do it." The chances are high that you're mistaken.

Its fair game to say "I don't think this is how most women walk." Its (hopefully unintentionally) insulting to say "no normal person walks that way." Its like saying "no real-life woman dressed their characters scantily." In trying to express the fact that many real-life men dress their characters scantily, you can be unintentionally denegrating.

Ok: it is a bit exaggerated. But I think its more sexy than skanky. I don't think heroine plus sexy automatically equals super ******.

Humor impaired ? Or is that seriousness enhanced in our brave new world of doubleplusgood PC speak ? Well not to flagellate an extinct equine, but PVP is still fun and people do regularly enjoy it so for it to fail that would have to stop and the devs would have to declare the project over.

Being ever a keen observer of the perambulations and gyrations of the female posterior, 6 inch heels are the superpower you are looking for. Not having a head like Modok, I have no idea how you would manage to fight crime in such footwear.
