Too much loot.

Allright. It's time to face the music. Some of you know that I run TF/SFs on Justice a lot. I mean A LOT.

And some of you know that I'm pretty cheap too. I've got one toon that's purpled out, and 2 that are Hami'd out, but the rest are SOs and whatever junk falls off the TF truck.

However, since I've stuffed the base full and you can't trade merits, some of my toons are getting close to the reward merit cap, so I suppose I have to get off my lazy butt now and do something with all this accumulated 'stuff'.

Most of my toons (that I play regularly) have over a billion inf and I really don't have much to spend it on. I'm not keen on upgrading all of my SO'd toons either since the game would present even less of a challenge then. :P

Anyhow, I need advice on what I should do with my reward merits to 1. Maximize my return at the Merit vendor, 2. Hold the resulting IOs/inf?

Should I just monetize them and hold them as outstanding bids so the WW is like a bank for billions? Should I convert the IOs upscale to the most expensive ones to consolidate things so the base will fit them?

In reality I shouldn't really care that much about it since I don't buy much, don't spend much and I kind of don't really min-max that much either, but I really hate the idea of wasting the merits. I guess it's the obsessive collector's mentality...

I really don't want a stable of bank toons that just hold inf either...I'd like to know if anyone's got a relatively hassle free way to 'move' those merits around without clogging up auction slots/toon slots or being wasteful.

You could kill two birds with one stone : crank the difficulty slider to +4/x8, avoid team composition with buff/debuff ATs, don't fill teams, eventually consider using the "foes buffed" and "players debuffed" settings, and spend merits for IOs. This way you use your merits and you make the game harder.

Buy some recipies that sell for good inf and drop them on newbies in Atlas. You clearly don't need the inf or merits for your toons so this is a good generous way to greet newbies.

Yah, I like teaming with friends though, and getting them run over isn't exactly their idea of fun for some strange reason (sometimes I get a perverse enjoyment out of team wiping though - winning every battle can be a snoozefest too).

The whole foes buffed and players debuffed thing kinda bugs me as getting nothing for cranking it up though. Increased level difficulty at least you get a reward by higher inf though.

The other part is also I really like trollers for some reason. I can't seem to get excited by playing a tank or scrapper. My MM is fun and the VEAT (widow), but oddly the other ATs have never clicked with me.

Fortunately (unfortunately), I could IO out all of my toons without having to spend any dough simply from the ridiculous collection of IOs I have stored in my base already, so buffing my toons isn't going to get rid of my merits issue.

Heh. I do that already (usually in the WWs and not AP...can't stand the broadcast chatter there), but also I'm a fiscal conservative too... so I try not to give out _too_ much in the way of a handout (like more than 10 million at a time).

Edit: Guess I should hold a CC in Pocket D and give away a bunch of merits or something like that. Thanks for the inspiration.

No worries. Unfortunatly as I understand it you can't give Merits away, although you could give the promise of a number of Merits to be spent on behalf of the winner, so you go with them and buy the recipie/salvage the winner wants.

A straight Billion inf prize would normally work for a CC.

As for converting the merits to inf, rolling at 35-39 (30-34 and/or 40-44 come close) would be the usual 'best' on average.

Sell the merits to someone for x amount of rolls. Or offer to get me a couple 7.5%'s at a reasonable price. I'm also on Justice.

I dont really have an answer for you but I wanted to let you know that I feel your pain, but not the level where you are.

I have an Ice/Kin Corr that I run regular ITS with (sometimes 2 a night) with diff Tank/Brutes who have regular team runs. My Corr is loaded with merits as well and has tons of infla to the point where half his slots are used up with 2 billion bids.

Anyway My Corr only has one set of purples (in Blizzard) and is IO's the rest of the way, most of my other toons are IO to the extent that they can afford them.

Anyway my Corr has a ton of Merits and I also just dont feel like hitting the Merit Vendor, when the TF is done i just sell the SO drops and go park him in his next Day Job until the next day.

I am hoping to take some of the ideas here to move of the merits around.

Hmm. Your goals and desires are completely skew to mine. . . that is, I can't really help you. I want to see more sub-50 recipes in the system, and more inf spent in general (less inf in circulation) and neither of those works for you.

There's two questions, really. One is storage - how do you store 100 billion inf, or whatever- and the other one is, once you GET 100 billion inf what do you do with it?

Storage: 15 slots on Wents stores 30 billion. 100 "100-million inf items" in a SG chest stores 10 billion. (Purples and certain PVP's cost more, but there's an potential ethical issue of creating scarcity there.) Actually, storing 100 billion inf is harder than I thought it would be.

I'm trying to think of interesting investment/charity opportunities. Something where you put in inf and get something out that's not inf, but is useful to you. It's odd to me that you don't want to even frankenslot your characters, but that's just a matter of us enjoying different things.

I've got this project. I run a cross-side, cross-server currency exchange service. Other people run contests for best base, and best AE arc. I was for a while trying to bribe people to roll their merits below level 50.

It takes something under 100 million inf to get Field Crafter- although if you actually sell your creations you can make money at it. I don't know if you'd find the portable crafting table a useful convenience, but it's something to do with your money. You can do various things to trade money for convenience during the process (buying all the recipes at the table, overpaying for your salvage, destroying everything you make as you make it, etc.) so cost is quite variable.

You could find a base designer you like and pay them to redesign your base.

I recently bought a costume code (Knives of Artemis) for 1.5 billion infamy.

I started the last SG-only team with 100 million inf for each of us, so we wouldn't have to stress about quality of life things like buying KB protection IO's.

... does your base have a full set of tier 3 inspirations in the insp chests? OK, that's only going to burn maybe 10 million inf. I'm out of ideas.

So you think you're a hero, huh.

You can buy costume codes? If so, how does that take place?

I really like this idea, I had stated in another post that I was thinking about starting an SG to store some drops (yes Fulmen I still have your infl/prest post link...lol). And I have seem some really kickass base designs out there.

So having someone create the base for me in enchange for my funds is a really good idea.

Thanks for that tip.

Yeah, I know Pum knows you can't give merits away directly, so I'm thinking that sort of "what do you want me to buy?" is the reward he's thinking of.

That or he's really sleepy.

There's a reward merit cap? What is it? I just looked in the wiki under "Merit Rewards" and "Reward Merits" and didn't see any reference to it that I recognize.

The Merit Reward cap is 9999.

Looks easy but can actually take a while to earn, compared to tickets, when you can easily hit the cap on that in less then a day's work of AE missions.

[Beta Testers]Zombie Man: Harlot is Swan's nickname too. And Dominatrix. And Sister Psyche. And Mynx. And Bobcat. And Synapse.

I've got a couple of characters over 500 at the moment, but I see it'll be a while before I need to worry.

Covered merits being untradeable in OP.

Love the base designer idea...I was kind of depressed they dropped the prestige amounts on items since it had forced me to choose prestige or influence before but now it seems prestige is as easy to obtain as inf...

PS. I do frankenslot my toons but only if it drops, and usually only for that toon. Makes it more of a challenge to 'soup' up a toon. The only thing I buy usually is the perf shifter proc since I think it's quite useful.

PPS. Didn't give away 1B last year in a CC but gave away 10 crafted IOs, 8 of which consisted of LotG 7.5s and purples. Winner got 5 of his/her choice, 2nd got 3 of the rest and other 2 went to 3rd place.

I can understand your situation. I IO my toons in the mid 30's and, unless I expect to play them a lot after hitting 50, they're pretty much done. I have only purpled one toon and don't see the point to doing any others. I farm a bit, do a ton of TF's and work the market so the infl and merits keep coming in.

With sufficient funds, you can effectively 'buy' something that normally requires a long-term group effort - a well-appointed base. If you have an idea for a theme SG, or a cool name idea, you can make a new SG and have a massive base overnight by converting influence to prestige. Yes, the exchange rate sucks but, if you're rolling in influence, who cares?

P.S. I have not actually done this, but I did buy an existing VG with base. It had died out and one person found himself the only one left and didn't feel like building it back up and decided he'd rather have some infamy than his own private base. The VG had a name I liked, so I bought it.

Crash the market on LotG +7.5s plz....or just give me a dozen, throw in a few Miracles and Numi++s too. Seriously though, it might be fun to pick a recipe like lvl 25 LotG +7.5s and totally crash the market.

Believe.

Pum is straight up. I've run with him periodically, and there isn't a thing he says here I would doubt.

That was said lightheartedly, as I only see "too much" falling under the circumstances of having all of your market slots on all of your characters filled with two billion bids on items that don't exist.

Or having more than me.

Not possible. Or believable.

Believe.

It's possible. Just like with global recharge bonuses. "You can't have too much global recharge until your attack chain is 'Headsplitter - Headsplitter - Headsplitter'."
