Female oriental face
I managed to pull it off using Young 11/Makeup 5, and then adjusting the face sliders to taste.
Worked well with both the Bangs hairstyle (above pic), as well as Looped Braids...
Very likely 17, Young 11 or Young 14. Those seem to have the strongest oriental cast to them. There are probably a couple others.
Thanks, I'll play around with those!

Sorry. I don't mean to turn this into a political discussion, but I do feel it necessary to point out that the proper "politically correct" term is "Asian". Oriental should only be used in reference to inanimate objects. Not people. It is very offensive when used that way.

My Lego Models http://www.flickr.com/photos/30369639@N07/ lemur lad: God you can't be that stupid... I'm on at the same time as you for once, and not 20 minutes into it you give me something worth petitioning?
Lady-Dee: Hey my fat keeps me warm in the winter and shady in the summer.
Huh? Sorry to continue the tangent, but just a brief comment.
Might be a US/Europe thing, but I'm good friends with some Chinese people back in the UK, and I'm in Japan at the moment. I've not took a poll, but either term seems fine. In the UK, "Asian" is more likely to be used to refer to folk from the Indian sub-continent, though I have heard people say "East Asian".
What's more, it came up in conversation once with a Chinese lass, and I was told that "Oriental" sounds better than "Asian" to her, being more specific. But ya know, that's just an anecdote on a personal preference; not saying there aren't some folk who find it offensive.
OMG! How like, totally kewl are these characters?!1
If you're going to refer to yourself by your continent of origin (American, European), then it's equitable to call everyone by their continent of origin (Asian, African) rather than the direction their continent is from you. Unless of course, you're going to refer to yourself directionally (a Westerner), in which case, you can use the equitable directional appellation (an Easterner). It's only fair.

And a friend of mine who is Chinese really hates it said that she comes from the Far East. Her standard non polite reply to that is "East of what, your backward continent that didn't get printing or gunpowder until a 1000 years after we invented it roundeye?" She can get away with that because she's tiny, cute and adorable.

Thank you, Champion.
To me, Oriental sounds more exotic and mysterious than Asian. It immediately brings to mind Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. 'Asian' on the other hand, just makes me think of grassy steppes and herds of horses.
Personally, I don't buy that 'area' thing because 'caucasian' describes an area in Europe, and I am definitely NOT from Europe, yet that's the only thing I can check on a survey when it comes to ethnicity.
Just my two cents, and definitely not trying to flame anyone. If someone I know personally tells me they'd rather be called Asian, I definitely don't have a problem with it.
Why would you get mad or take offense to something someone said simply because they don't know the difference?
After you explain the difference polietly, and they continue - THEN take offense. Not knowing is not the same thing as intentional. Immediately taking offense unequivocally makes you the rude person (the tiny cute girl included).

Be safe, use Asian for everything. The oriental vase won't get upset.
Would a texture map on a non-animated polygon count as an inanimate object?

Let's just not turn this into a discussion of how I don't put nearly enough clothes on my female toons. Though, geez, I see people going with the eden/bikini 3 often. It's not really creative either. At least give them Enforcer 2 chest detail or something.
I believe 'east asia' was a reference to the eastern side of asia, as opposed to how to get there from the writer's position. Like 'North America' or 'South-west England'.
Actually on topic, I'm a sucker for using face seventeen for my asian girls. Enough so I remember the number, apparently.

Sounds to me this is a case of 'just because you're black (or should that be African American, or African, or Kenyan, or Ethiopian, or or or) doesn't mean you can get away with the n-word' ? |
Oriental rugs, Oriental spices, Oriental furniture, Oriental art etc. =s good. Oriental grandpa, Oriental stripper, Oriental dentist =s not good. Everyone has their own opinion, but regardless...Asian American people (generally speaking) don't dig being called Oriental. It became socially incorrect about 30 years ago and was replaced with Asian or Asian American.
From online:
"While a small number of reference works used in the United States describe Oriental as pejorative, antiquated or offensive in some instances, the American Heritage Book of English Usage notes that-
It is worth remembering, though, that Oriental is not an ethnic slur to be avoided in all situations. It is most objectionable in contemporary contexts and when used as a noun, as in the appointment of an Oriental to head the commission. In these cases Asian (or a more specific term such as Vietnamese, Korean, or Asian American, if appropriate) is the only acceptable term. But in certain historical contexts, or when its exotic connotations are integral to the topic, Oriental remains a useful term."

Young Face 11 all the way. It's one of my favorite faces altogether, since it's in the overlap between 'faces with neutral expressions' and 'faces that look good.' The recent update added a lot of new faces to that area, though.

o·ri·en·tal (ôr'ē-ěn'tl, ōr'-)
adj.
often Oriental Of or relating to the countries of the Orient or their peoples or cultures; eastern.
Oriental Of or designating the biogeographic region that includes Asia south of the Himalaya Mountains and the islands of the Malay Archipelago.
Lustrous and valuable: oriental pearls.
Of or relating to a genuine or superior gem: an oriental ruby.
Relating to or designating corundum that resembles another stone in color.
n. often Oriental Often Offensive An Asian.
o'ri·en'tal·ly adv.
Usage Note: Asian is now strongly preferred in place of Oriental for persons native to Asia or descended from an Asian people. The usual objection to Orientalmeaning "eastern"is that it identifies Asian countries and peoples in terms of their location relative to Europe. However, this objection is not generally made of other Eurocentric terms such as Near and Middle Eastern. The real problem with Oriental is more likely its connotations stemming from an earlier era when Europeans viewed the regions east of the Mediterranean as exotic lands full of romance and intrigue, the home of despotic empires and inscrutable customs. At the least these associations can give Oriental a dated feel, and as a noun in contemporary contexts (as in the first Oriental to be elected from the district) it is now widely taken to be offensive. However, Oriental should not be thought of as an ethnic slur to be avoided in all situations. As with Asiatic, its use other than as an ethnonym, in phrases such as Oriental cuisine or Oriental medicine, is not usually considered objectionable.

I'm sure the OP didn't mean any offense. Calling him out on it, publicly, is being pretty knit-picky. A PM to him, by any offended persons, could've saved a lot of the debate on this, as he could've edited his post. Not everyone is "Politically Correct." And what's "Politically Correct" in one place may not be in another.
For the life of me, I cannot find or create a good oriental female face for my toon. But they are out there, I've seen them. What face # are people using?
Thanks!
