GR Closed Beta - we *will* know
I intend on telling anyone who asks one thing-
GR is freakin' awesome, and you're gonna love it.
Haven't even seen it, but I have a gut feeling that this is true (and wouldn't be breaking the NDA, regardless). :^)
Basically too many 50's to count, but I'm generally a brute/scrapper/tank kind of guy.

Simply stated, other player's jealousy is not my problem. It's a beta test (to debug things), not a popularity contest. I can deal with nosy players; I don't need to be sheltered from them like I have H1N1.
How are veterans and loyal customers supposed to keep jealousy and nosy questions away?

This is a non-issue, IMPO.

All this time and I somehow COMPLETELY missed that announcement. The things you learn when you pay attention.... I swear...
"All City of Heroes® and City of Villains® players who maintain an active account for the time period beginning August 15, 2009 and ending November 15, 2009"
From the official site. The badge will probably be given out AFTER the end time. |

The same way I already keep people away in-game: with my fabulous personality, and my indifference to most everything.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Pretty much everyone I still know in this game are already 60+ month vets just like me so I don't expect to get too many "What's GR closed beta like" questions from people in general.
But whenever I see a character ingame with the 60 months Veteran badge, or the Loyalty Program badge, I will immediately know that the player has been offered a chance to be in the GR closed beta. How are veterans and loyal customers supposed to keep jealousy and nosy questions away?

I really don't think this "bug the people with the badges for info" idea is going to be a serious concern. I'll just not answer peoples' questions the same way I've always done with all the other closed betas I've been in. *shrugs*

Agreed. When I get offered the chance I will turn it down. I do not find enjoy in playing a half finish games and report bugs, do not have time for that. I pay to play for fun. Besides I can wait for any game to come out live; those that get in the beta just means you will play the content and get bored of it sooner.
This. I've been around a long time and havne't had a beta invite for anything other than the Champions beta.
However, I probably wouldn't do it even if offered. The whole idea of playing a non-live buggy version of the game does not appeal to me. But, if thats your thing then go grab your boat and float it to your hearts content. You beta folks help keep things clean. Thanks for all your hard work. |
Also this question that the OP asked, I am sorry, is a stupid question and really did not deserve the waste thread space.

To be fair, if this is anything like CoV Beta, it won't be a full-time job. Back then, we only got the servers up for a few hours a day, not every day. And even then, for me it was usually 1 AM to around 5 AM or some such.

Hrm, I remember that now. Yes, will have to keep notes on playtest times. Ugh, windowed playtest times.

Simple; 'offered' and 'partaken' are two different states. Some people don't want to try a beta no matter how long they've been here.
Okay, so people who are in the Closed Beta for an upcoming expansion are traditionally under a NDA, and it's generally considered poor form to even inform someone that you are in the Closed Beta. This is supposedly to keep people from being jealous or badgering the beta tester for info.
But whenever I see a character ingame with the 60 months Veteran badge, or the Loyalty Program badge, I will immediately know that the player has been offered a chance to be in the GR closed beta. How are veterans and loyal customers supposed to keep jealousy and nosy questions away? |
I think the 'false info' answer might be a good position to adopt.

The Welsh have a well established native language, widely spoken in most parts of the country. It's closely related to Breton, the language spoken by the natives of Brittany, France.
Actually, I believe w and l both qualify as vowels in Welsh.
