Apparently, they will be going live on Tuesday

They all sound pretty cool, but the one by Bill Willingham sounds the most interesting to me. I thought Fables was really well written.

Now, get Hickman to do some!

Quest for magic sounds like it could be awesome storywise. Will defo be giving that one a go [and you know anything to do with magic always ends up in something going wrong].

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Heh, and someone thought the comments on MMORPG.com sounded trite and/ or snobbish

I for one support our new Guest Author overlords. Finally, the fruits of Comic Con pay off for Paragon Studios It will be something fun to try out between 2XP Weekend and the Halloween event

Heh, they talk about the three arcs, but mention that all four will go live on Tues

/this.

Edit: Seriously, the way this is going, why have an official site any more? We can just go to MMORPG, and Twit, and IGN, and CNN, maybe Blogger, Facebook, Myspace.... It's like actually announcing things on the official site, where I'd *expect* to see news, announcements and t he like, is a completely alien concept.

I'm half expecting to have to download I17 from Gamespy or something.

Isn't Hickman creating some as a player?

And in a way, you could say the Cyrus/Breakneck story added to the game from the comic is Troy's story, though its not AE.

"Quest for Magic" is the only one I am remotely interested in.

I'm only ladylike when compared to my sister.

They did announce it a while back, but no word of when it was going live.

This has already been answered by the mods: By giving exclusive head-start info to fan/professional sites, the sites are more likely to feature the story. That's free advertising.

Also, those sites have readers who are not CoH players, and seeing a feature article about the game might bring them into CoH.

Really, Paragon/NCSoft gets yelled at for lack of marketing, and then when they do market, they get yelled at.

On a different note:

"Algonquin Hate Table"

That's awesome!

If they have Willingham writing some, if you see the name Dr. Apocalypse...RUN!

My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.

I got no issues. The game has been woefully underpromoted for a long time now. It's not about telling peeps that are already subbed and letting them use word of mouth, it's about putting the data out there and getting ex or non players to start thinking about playing.

because mollifying the gaming press with 'scoops' generates goodwill and inspires more (and friendlier) coverage.

Ironically, publishing an origin story as a player tends to go up like a lead balloon.

Which part? Because the guest author news is not new. The specific story arcs are.

Also: It helps publicity to give news outlets the chance to say stuff before the publisher does - the outlets are happier with this, as it gives people a reason to read their articles. If you could read about this stuff on the CoH homepage, why go to Kotaku at all?

My issue with this article on Kotaku is that there was no accompanying announcement on the forum that there were tidbits on Kotaku. I had to learn about this article through this thread, which I may have missed entirely since I occasionally go days between visiting the City Life subforum.
