MA Super Team Starting and we want you!

Had a great turnout today and a lot of MA fun!

So many players showed up that we had to split into 2 groups. Team SO (led by WN) ran Player Nominee arc in the SO range while Team DO (mine) ran arcs in the DO range.

First up for Team DO was Bubbawheat's "Ctrl + Alt + Reset #137561"

You'd think that an arc based on the concept of being stuck in a time loop and having to repeat the same mission over and over would be grindy and repetitive, right? Wrong!! Bubbawheat takes the mechanic he/she used in Whack-a-mole and wraps it into a tight, compelling story with tons of easter eggs, fun dialogue, and interesing bios.

Everyone seemed to agree that this was a great arc with a surprisingly high amount of variety!

Next up: "The Invasion of the Bikini-Clad Samurai Vampiresses from Outer Space! #61013"

The writing on this was fun-tastic. Great dialogue, well developed characters, challenging, but not overpowered enemy group, and the humor had the whole group loling all the way.

Finally, we loaded up "Cutthroat Competition #10171"

Unfortunately, we hit a dud with this one.

Missions were grindy with very little clues (only 1 on the whole arc!) and very little dialogue (we grinded thru a whole map to get to the boss and all he said was 1 sentence...and it was forgettable.

It often jumped from serious to humourous in tone and never really hit it's mark as either before it finally went too far and broke the 4th wall in the final mission.

Not sure if it's due to an unavailable map, but one mission says you're going into caves and instead you go into a skyraider base! And a HUGE one at that. Author really should look into that.

And the topper to make this a must-avoid arc: invisible Assassin Striking LTs...en masse.

Seriously, this arc dragged out like Waterworld. It's so bad, I wouldn't wish it on Venture...or maybe I would...

Despite that last mission teaming up with other MA enthusiasts continues to be the highlight of my gaming week! Lots of fun was had and look forward to doing it again.

Thanks Backfire for running team 2 and posting the Player's Choice DO Nominees you guys ran. The SO team ran the following arcs:

Teen Phalanx Forever! #67335 @PW

This one was very well received by the entire team. Having played it before myself I was not surprised by the reaction as it is a very entertaining arc.

Polar Emergence neutral Government User Interface Network (PENGUIN) #29205 @Tubbius

People were mixed on this arc. Some clearly loved while others, not so much.

We are teaming again tomorrow at noon EST.

Check out one of my most recent arcs:

416951 - The Ms. Manners Task Force - More wacky villains, Wannabes. things in poor taste

or one of my other arcs including two 2010 Player's Choice Winners and an2009 Official AE Awards Nominee for Best Original Story

I wish it was the Skyraider base. While out of place, it would have been really cool. Alas, generic tech maps ahoy.

And I still have not seen WaterWorld yet...

And of course after the rest of the team wiped Lt. Mary Sue finished the Vampiresses off single-handedly and without even breaking a nail.

I am thinking that besides having the option to rez there our first real priority is storage. It would be nice down the road to get a telepad and the RWZ beacon.

Some of you have teamed with me a couple times as Shocking Bonefist. I just thought I'd mention that seeing as I have a tendency to get too tired to stay on shortly after we start. That I'm probably gonna start scheduling evening team ups for anyone who is interested. It won't be next weekend but the following weekend that I'll set up my first.

Great time as usual! Today we played:

The Monster Hop by Big Daddy Vio Arc ID: 27861

Escalation #6143 @FemFury

TV Casualties! by @Toxa Arc ID: 6777

The first two arcs are Players Choice Nominees and the last arc TV Casualties! was a random button selection that turned out to be pretty darn fun.

As I brought up after Escalation, every once in a while we should run arcs in Test mode so things can be debugged a bit as far as team size difficulties and other shenanigans.

Sure, why not. It is not as if we want to level these toons quickly to 50. However, you might consider making a special team for that purpose. Perhaps a different day?

I just logged in and the MOTD of both groups correctly reflects the schedule I posted above. I just changed it this morning, so maybe you saw last weeks schedule when it was still up.

I've recently been informed (and then gone to verify) that in the process of marking the Arc Dev's Choice, something corrupted in the critter files. If you still choose to run it, be aware that at the moment the final mission's critter file is basically gone except one critter, the EB and it will spawn as every mob. Not sure what did it, but it was functioning fine yesterday, and today it's got the problem.

I have a word in about the issue and I'm hoping they will allow me to fix it very soon.

Update: This morning, I was allowed to edit the arc and correct the problem. It has been redisignated Dev's Choice so it's easier to find. I've run the arc as it stands on live now on two characters at varyign Difficulty Settings and it is working correctly. For anyone who played it yesterday, I am extremely sorry the file bugged out.

Thanks for the warning. We better try it at a later time then.

Redbone just sent me a PM saying it is all fixed. So, it is back on the schedule for this evening.

That is correct. I have just nbow completed a second test on the live arc with a different character at a different Difficulty setting and everything appears to be "working as intended."

I really hope you guys enjoy playing it.

A good thing, as that arc is also nominated in the forum 2009 award for serious arcs! So it should be working properly.

Btw, I had the pleasure of judging the nominees for the short list of the Best Serious Arc 2009 and this arc was one of those I had to play. And yes, I liked it.

Had some fun tonight. Started out as planned with Wrong_Number leading us on:

The Storyteller: Sabrina's Tale #1237 by @Redbone

Then we lost half the team and continued on with

15+ minute tutorial - Knowledge is Power: Architect Entertainment #28470 by @Paula

And finished off with the last three teammates running a Whack-a-Mole #2711 race where Sure Thing won.

Not sure why I haven't joined in on this yet, but I've made an Energy/Electric Blaster, Doctor Von Heksung, on Triumph for the MA team. I'll join you all on saturday if I can get myself awake around noon :P
