Any Primary/Secondary combination...

I am looking for the most overpowered MM out there. Some of the things I have heard are:

  • Dark is great for debuffs
  • FF is best for tanking
  • Traps is decent tank/more DPS then FF
  • Thugs own in DPS, but the Arsonist has a death wish
  • Bots can defend themselves better then all the others
  • Ninjas have the best [?? crt dps] single target DPS
  • People say to play whatever is fun to you
What’s fun for me, the most fun I can have in a game, is playing in the must overpowered class or FOTM that pwns everything.

I don't care if I have to just look at my pets do all the work or be the most active MM out there, I just want to know: What MM Primary/Secondary is the must OP vs PVE content.

Also, you can throw in an OP PvP MM if you want, as I like to compare things. Is whatever is the most powerful in PvE solo also what’s the most powerful MM in PvE when teaming? Is it a DPS MM setup, debuffing MM, or a Tankermind? I just want a character, that when I finish leveling it up to be that MM that can defeat anything in this game.

Get my drift? And thanks for any helpful replies, ahead of time!

Still Thugs/Dark for PvE, anyway.

I think a case can be made for Thugs/poison after noxious gas is available.

I also think Robots are very sturdy with their bubbles and self-healing. Pairing Dark or Storm with the Robots is very successful.

Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.

Whatever you do, for the love of gawd, avoid Robots/Forcefield. You will own everything you come across, but you will also be bored beyond tears. I have a 50 Rob/FF, and while extraordinarily powerful, it bores me to tears.

I'd recommend Robots/Dark/Scorpion for total ownage while keeping you involved/awake. You can also do Mu if you like, too.

Alternately, Thugs/Thermal

53 Bots/FF/Mace Mastermind | 53 NRG/FF/Electricity Defender | 50 Time/Dual Pistols/Soul Defender | 50 Demons/FF/Mace Mastermind | 51 Necro/Dark/Soul Mastermind | 50 Thugs/Time/Mace Mastermind | 50 Ice/Ice/Arctic Tanker | 50 Plant/Rad/Earth Controller | 50 Illusion/Trick Arrow Controller | 50 Gravity/Force Field Controller
Yes, I like Force Fields.

Wow, finally someone who took that as me helping, and not being a complete butthead!

I do suggest that you brush up a bit on your phrasing of things... your text is all we get as a way to "judge" you. Some judge harshly.

PvP=Thugs/Pain and or Necro/Pain

PvE= Any intelligent MM

I think thermal is the new hotness for pvp (pun intended).

Heat Exhaustion on something that usually takes exhaustive efforts to kill seems like a win to me.

Most MMs can do well, if you learn the powersets. Also, I'm one of those heretic MMs that takes personal attacks, so I have a very active Bots/FF/Mu Mastermind that's always doing something in combat. I prefer to leave the pets in Bodyguard mode unless I'm dealing with a single boss or something, which means I have to deal with the Pet AI for choosing targets. I swear they have a routine that runs something like:

If
(Target.health) <= 10%
Then
(Select NewTarget)

So being able to put a laser bolt into an enemy that is just standing around with about ten hitpoints is very helpful for me. It also gives me a method for drawing the initial attack from a group - Photon Grenade is a great way to open an attack if you want everything in sight to shoot at you.

*Edit* A possible exception to the "most MMs can do well" idea might be Mercs. Unfortunately, their damage is apparently a fair bit lower than any of the equivalent MM pets across the board. This might be meant to balance the mez effects built into many of their attacks. Unfortunately, the long recharge times and low chance for those mez procs actually going off keeps this from being a totally fair tradeoff. They also share some of the same AI issues as Thugs, in that I know at least one player who thinks that the Medic should be officially renamed "Suicidal Idiot."

I myself have a Thugs/FF, and just recently took [Provoke] so that I could even more take on the role of a Tanker. I have almost exclusively solo-ed with this character... so he may not be optimal for teams, not too sure.

However, he can melt most foes pretty quickly, and his HP rarely dips below green, until and unless all the shields fade and I don't notice... (The exception was Calystix... I just could NOT solo him!)

I would suggest the new therm Thugs/Therm for pet buffs and with heat exaustion for the -recov and thugs just pwns

It's better now with the new difficulty options. I cranked it up, and finally I have to actually, you know, do stuff to complete the mission instead of just sitting and reading something until I hear the sound FX stop.

I've been leveling a necro/storm MM and have been very impressed with it, especially after the second pet upgrade. There's a surprising amount of synergy between the sets and it's really good at handling large spawns.

I cannot wait to roll a Demon/Thermal!

I'm surprised I don't see many posts about bots\therm. Is there something I'm missing about this combo that doesn't scream awesomeness?
-it's ranged, so no need to micro manage as much as melee pets
-has +RES shields to add to protectors +DEF shields
-has a AoE heal with a large radius and a single heal
-forge + assbot
-heat exhaustion's good stuff combines nice with the -regen that bots provide as well
-melt armor + bots AoE's

It seems, on paper anyways, that bots and therm would go great together. I'm building one now, but it would see like it would really start to shine mid-late game...and wouldn't be 'as' boring as bots\ff, but still be able to steam roll over things.

My problem with Bots/Thermal is basically theme. Flaming Zombies or Burning Ninjas makes some kind of sense, as both can be pretty magic-based anyway. Fire Thugs or Mercs... eh, mutant leader, I can sort of buy it. But flaming robots? Part of it is just the character models - if there was an alternate Robot theme where they looked more like the Clockwork mechano-skeletons, then I could see it.

You could make it a "welder" theme. Welding/healing the robots back to health makes some sense.

with the ability to recolour thermal you can make it more or less look like smoke/steam. I'm sure someone could figure out a concept that would involve mechanical devices and that effect.

You can't touch burning ninjas!

Why must bots = technology origin? Don't plant your creative noodle on such an isolated island.

I've got a toon that I'm quite happy with...including theme, and I've recolored the flames from thermal to be dark blue\green and it looks fantastic...and yes..the origin in magic.

Besides, the Clockwork King animates his minions using his Psionic abilities.

For me, it's basically because the bots *look* incredibly technological. As I said, if there was an alternate version that looked more Steampunk, it wouldn't be such a leap. That's simply my personal bias. I see the current bots and reflexively think "science or tech." I do the same thing for Assault Rifle, despite the fact that I know of at least two fairly famous characters that use firearms and are essentially magical creatures. (Hellboy and at least one version of Ghost Rider.)
