How to free CoX of spam emails
A solution is already in the works. Patience.

...The question is then, why do temp accounts have email privileges? It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that if you take away those privileges and ban anyone who is caught spamming with their main account then you solve the problem. Why hasn't this been enacted? It doesn't make any sense to allow these people to go on harassing paying customers. Please take away email from temp accounts.

They don't. The spam is likely coming from the accounts of people who paid to get their characters PLed, and then subsequently had their full accounts stolen. Or, the RMTers are making enough money that buying full accounts to send spam emails isn't a net loss. Or a combination of both.

Who isn't fed up with the spam that overflows our in-boxes? Everytime I log in there are several emails (sometimes hundreds) from websites asking me to buy infamy/influence or powerleveling, etc. with real world cash. The in-game email has become completely useless. Who wants to wade through pages of spam to get to the one email that you might have from a friend. I don't think anyone uses it anymore because of this. In-game email was once a fun way to contact your friends and packmates. Now it's just another annoying way for abusers to aggravate players. The devs should know by now that these people are using temp accounts. One gets blocked by the player or deleted by the devs and they just make another account. The question is then, why do temp accounts have email privileges? It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that if you take away those privileges and ban anyone who is caught spamming with their main account then you solve the problem. One more reason I am anxiously awaiting the release of Issue 16 to the live servers.

Trial accounts have significant restrictions, among them that trial accounts cannot send tells, cannot send e-mails, and cannot speak in broadcast. Almost every single restriction on a trial account is there to fight RMT spammers, including the fact that they cannot form teams, join or form supergroups and cannot hold more than 50,000 influence. The only restriction Trial accounts have that I can't see being at all related to the RMT trade is that they can't level past 14.
RMT spammers are using real accounts, either their own, or the accounts of idiots who buy powerleveling services from them. They will continue to do so as long as enough idiots use their services for them to turn even a miniscule profit. Granted, most of the credit card numbers used to open the accounts are either fraudulent, or belong to the idiots who buy their wares.
Issue 16 will give us another weapon to use against them. Issue 16 will introduce an e-mail filter so that we can choose to receive e-mail from only our friends, our supergroup, or both. We will even be able to simply turn it off and not receive e-mail from anyone.
The spammers will try to find another way, we just have to wait and see what they try next.
New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
A filter is being introduced in I 16 (?) that will let you shut off e-mail from anyone other than your friends list. That should all but kill the problem.

1) Trials can't send emails.
2) Spammers are deleted as reported and verified.
3) As noted, I16 adds the long-desired filters to email to limit incoming to friends lists and supergroup mates 9or turn it off entirely).
Ta-daa.
My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.
As of Issue 16, you can choose to only accept mail from people in your SuperGroup and/or your friends list or can disable in game entirely. Utilizing any of these three options should take care of the RMT spammers.

Doesn't matter, the spammers have already started spamming in Local.
I don't understand why they allow spammers to create new accounts. Seems like if you ban someone's account you don't let them create a new one.

They are creating new accounts with new "identities" (which are most likely fake) each time. New fake email address, new fake contact information, and likely new (most likely stolen!) credit card info.

Do you honestly think they're creating new accounts under the same master account and with the same email/contact information/etc?

I thought the trial accounts could still send mail via command line; glad that fixed that hole.
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
Trial accounts can send mail through the mail interface. They were never restricted. It was mistakenly believed by the playerbase (including Paragon Wiki) that they were. They weren't, and aren't.

So, I was right then. After a whole page of being ridiculed and scorned. Finally some vindication. Ok, now I know I'm opening myself up for the real lashing. :P

"Is anything going to be done about spam emails?"
"Yes. Issue 16 has some cool filter options and it's due on Live in the near future"
Much less drama, see?
