...what was the question?

Quote:Fix'dEveryone in this thread is just shortsighted, dumb, or secretly wanting the terrorists to win. There's no other explanation.
The main problem is that the OP's suggestion didn't go far enough. Here is what he should have suggested:
1) When you start playing CoH, you are assigned a group of 7 perma-teammates. The "Quit Team" button will be removed. You may not quit your team. EVER. This will save loads of time and will help everyone realize the truth of the joy of teaming. (Also, it is polite to refer to your perma-teammates as "comrades". EDIT: except for whoever gets the star; refer to him/her as "Der Führer".)
2) Because it may take a period of adjustment for people to realize how fun this really is, you will not be permitted to quit the game. EVER. NCsoft will just keep billing your credit card. Because it's fun. Even if you don't know it.
I am confident that these sensible proposals will, with time, come to be embraced by the proletariat, errr, player base. -
Quote:I Feel your plight, Sam. I have yet to get all Vanguard or Roman Armors!I think the Vanguard pieces are by far my biggest concern, because it is literally IMPOSSIBLE for me to get an entire set. The completion of all four arcs gives me enough Vanguard Merits for one, maybe two, at most three pieces, out of what looks like a dozen. There is no way I can get enough Merits by just running Rikti content, I have to grind my *** off (here's a cool mental image for you) to get enough merits for a full set. That, or run Mothership raids that I plain never see happening. I saw two last year, and I saw one a couple of months ago. Maybe I'm just missing them, but I'm not a fan of grinding repeatable Borea missions, so once I'm done with the arcs, there's no reason to hang out in the War Zone. AND they are level-locked, to boot.
The Roman gear is another major PITA. OK, the Romulus sword and shield I can kind of see needing to beat Romulus to get them, but basic Roman armour? And even the bloody Roman swords and axes need access to Cimerora to unlock. Instead, at character creation I have to make do with a Viking axe. Apparently, the Romans were cooler than the Vikings. Otherwise, why would their gear be higher level content?
I am in favour of making costume unlocks account-wise for two reasons. One is I get costume pieces at character creation, which is G-r-r-r-reat! Another reason is that this allows custom costume piece unlocks to be REALLY hard to get. For instance, I wouldn't bat an eye at the Vanguard costume unlocks if they were account-wise. Over the past year, I would simply have unlocked the whole set piece by piece by piece. And it would have MEANT something. Here is this long, hard trudge that took multiple characters and multiple run-throughs to complete, but it's WORTH IT! I now have the costume pieces unlocked, and this epic struggle came to something.
Or think about it in terms of Roman gear. I would not actually mind having each ITF unlock only a single piece, or unlock a few pieces at a time, if those pieces were unlocked account-wide. Then I would both have incentive to run it multiple times: I want the full set, but I would also feel I accomplished something meaningful each run. Oh, sure, my character may not be able to use that gaudy Roman helmet, but that's OK. I now have it unlocked at character creation and on all other characters, so the chances of at least one of them having use for it are quite great.
To me, this both serves to create a feeling of accomplishment and removes the trudge needed to get an item EVERY DAMN TIME.

Quote:Right...So what about the RMT people's spam, QJ?
I can't afford IT either. How does that enter your equation? If I want something spiffy to help me with my character's performance, I can earn it in the game just as easily as ever. If I want something extra to make a costume look just perfect - I can save up and every few months get a new doodad for that. It does not affect the performance of the game/character.
RMT still requires "rm" ... you do know that means "real money" right? A lot of us are sadly lacking in this economy, and I'm glad I paid for a full year of sub for this game when I still HAD that money. If it comes down to it, I would imagine more people would spend their 15 bucks for another month of play time, rather than fitting one character with however much influence *and then not being able to play the game*...
Ummm...
OP...?
You DO know that there are TON of people against RMT stuff like this, right?
Very counter productive and unfair... I could afford to do this, but it would ruin the game for me IMHO. Heck, I have 3 accounts that are all active, have all of the goodies tha have come out to purchase and WILL ALL be gatting GR when it comes out... but, I am profoundly against this idea.
Sorry. -

Heck, I won't play anything redside but an mm... and I wont roll any mm that's not /Dark!
Come to Think of it... I only have Bots/Dark MM's... 9 of them... I'm obsessive about it, I think.
But you can bet that I will roll a Demon/Dark MM right out the box when GR comes out!
Ofcourse I'm not opposed to getting more secondaries for my MM brothers and sisters out there. -

Quote:TBH, I don't remember and my search-fu is failing me ATM...If thats true then i ask why? If it has something to do with copying the appearance that puts the kbosh on it but if its powers or something else it could be easily done.
Just so you know, I'm not really for or against this, just wanted to point it out...
I'll try and find the quote though. -
various code-speak, acronyms, and tech language stated...
I like and support this idea with all my heroic/villainous heart./

not downing you, here, Durakken... but i do believe that it has been stated on many occations that having the ability to clone a toon as a pet was never* going to happen.
* then again, the same was said of power customization...what do I know. -

well considering that I've been having somewhat the same problems since the last patch, I have to wonder what's going on... and I have a high end gaming machine.
Edit: DarkGob's been around for a bit... I think he knows what he is meaning... no disrespect intended there though. -

Hey, yeah... no body plays with me either... I hate them all! Everyone that plays this game should play when and how I want them too! If they don't then they suck.
...Sorry, but really, that's how you come off. If you invite me to a team and I am busy, I will politely tell you so... or... As Memphis does, I play and work at the same time alot and may be afk and not see your tell... How is any of that bad or wrong to you?
I have 3 accounts that I pay for. Now if you want to pay for my accounts so I can play for free, then I will run on your teams anytime you like, seriously. I'll send you the info to pay for them if it's really that horrible for you. -
