Test Server suddenly screwy
I logged onto Test about 10 minutes before tonight's maintenance window to try out a respec, and found myself hit with a horribly laggy mess (this was just after coming off of Live, which ran fine). Since I wasn't going to try a respec under those conditions and with so little time anyway, I decided to try again later. After the newest patch, gameplay is still extremely jittery, framerate less than 5 FPS, longer than usual load times, with a netgraph that looks like it fell out of an ugly tree and hit a few branches on the way down.
Last time I played was anywhere from a few days to a week ago, and everything was working fine (and Live is still working fine, I just checked). So I guess my question is - WTF? Should I be worried about not being able to play I16 when it goes to Live? |
I'm lucky if I get that at any day and I can play just fine on live with that... >.>
even the 8-15 fps...
Did you read what I said? I'm sure the ping has nothing to do with it, I only posted it for the sake of completeness. The issue is the framerate, which isn't even hitting 5 FPS. On Live I get a few FPS below 30.

and how are your graphic settings set up?
Current equipment? Ram? processor? Video card?
Can't really answer a question about framerate without what your working with.
well considering that I've been having somewhat the same problems since the last patch, I have to wonder what's going on... and I have a high end gaming machine.
Edit: DarkGob's been around for a bit... I think he knows what he is meaning... no disrespect intended there though.
As I said, Live server works perfectly, Test was working fine just a few days ago, and I didn't change anything in the interim.
I didn't make this thread looking for a fix really; I mean, it's Test, not a big deal if I can't play on it. But if there's something wrong with a recent patch, something that might prevent myself and others from playing when I16 goes Live, that's going to be a problem. In hindsight, it might have been better to post this on the I16 Feedback or Bugs subforums.

DG, is this anywhere? I'm logging on to test as soon as it patches.
Be well, people of CoH.

Logged into PI with BZB, capped at 60 FPS just standing there. Fought a spawn of scientists in the parking lot of Portal Corp, had 1 dip to 50 FPS as I landed and engaged, that lasted less than a second and then stayed capped at 60 FPS while killing them.
Teleported to Pocket D. Had some minor fluctuations as the D rendered while I was jumping around but it settled back to 60 FPS.
Went to FF, same story. Capped at 60 FPS.
I am running the latest Nvidia drivers. I do know that my settings are identical between test and live.
I can not at this time recreate any performance issues on test that I don't already know exist on live.

I seem to have pinned down the cause, which is troublesome. At the time of the original problem, I had the Titan Network Tracker open. Closed it when I was done playing on Live for the night, then went back onto Test to check my graphics settings, etc, and everything was fine. Logged off, started up TNT, then logged back in. Sure enough, performance drop. Tried again with TNT open, but with CIT forced offline. Performance returned to normal.
Can someone else verify? Is TNT known to have this effect with Test Server, or will I16 break compatibility with TNT/Herostats?

Ok, yes this could very well be the problem, for the fact that more data is being pushed through and 99% of the time a new update comes out, they have to update herostats and TNT to match, because your on a beta version of CoX it could be having some conflicting issues but still working the best it can in that situation.
(also if you have "Report missing messages" on that can cause some lag as well while the program polls CoX for the missing data and sends it to the program designers)
Because its actually logging the tabs in a way looking for data refrencing to badges, attacks, hits, levels, experience and such it uses quite a bit of processing power alongside CoX. Hence lag.
Solution: DO NOT use TNT (Glycerine) or HEROSTATS whilst running the TEST server version of the game...
Especially when it is running an unsupported build.
The test servers are for testing game builds etc, not for continuous play like the live servers.
TNT (Glycerine) and HeroStats usually only get updated with the new information once the build/issue has been transfered from test to live...
Issue 16 (Kaleidoscopic Divergence) on live very Soon
Confirmed by info requesting players to use thier non-stacking /respec freespec's asap if they wish to use them at all.
There is a freespec issued with every issue (sic).
Based on experience this usually means that the next issue is due within a week or so, yes that Soon
